Einherjar Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Ah yes, I see what you mean now. Hmmmm.... this is a good point you make. It would be nice to see some Zentradi or some other race. What if it ends up being subtle hint of what's really happening in the show's setting? Showcasing these cute girls and pretty boys could all be a distraction to something bigger.
Mommar Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 quite interesting that the designs are more along the fantasy side. Kingdoms and all that. So far they look cool though. I'm rather enjoying that, for some odd reason.

seti88 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Fantasy settings need fire breathing dragons! That aside I hope the storyline is strong enough to propel the series thru. The first episode can't come fast enough already!!
Tochiro Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Bogue Con-Vaart 15 y/o Member of the Valkyrie Unit 'Aerial Knights' from the Kingdom of the Wind. Pilot. The mischievous youngest member of the team. Raised by his sisters.

seti88 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 image.jpeg If i hadnt had it in my head (from the poster) that the char was a woman, then ok, its an accepted anime art styling. My fault for forgetting if it was mentioned at all that the knights were guys. Just a reaction to my own mistake.

sharky Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) a dude!? From the original poster looked like a woman! excuse me a bit.... puking_brian.gif It's our own version of The Crying Game. In your defense they have him posing more like a woman IMO what with the way he has his hand in his hair. Also, the ruffley thing near the chest area covers up potential boobage had it been a female character. Edited December 18, 2015 by sharky
Scyla Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Maybe it is a female but the Kingdom of Wind only allows for men to serve in the armed forces so she has to be in disguise.

Maybe it is a female but the Kingdom of Wind only allows for men to serve in the armed forces so she has to be in disguise. haha that can be a backstory all in itself! how would she evade medical etc...or perhaps changes when she gets splashed with hot water looking forward to tmr's reveals...i guess they covered the boys/girls in the poster already..
Einherjar Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Hmm, Meltrandi power armor also had their guns mounted on their arms.
Tochiro Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 As did the vf-4, but neither were foldable/retractable like the vf-31.
anime52k8 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Maybe it is a female but the Kingdom of Wind only allows for men to serve in the armed forces so she has to be in disguise. maybe it's just anime where young guys look like women all the time. :edit: Edited December 18, 2015 by anime52k8
Zinjo Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 a dude!? From the original poster looked like a woman! Did you read the character description? He was raised by his "sisters".... 'nuff said.
Vepariga Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Anime 101: If it looks like a girl 50/50 chance its a dude.
seti88 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Did you read the character description? He was raised by his "sisters".... 'nuff said. Yeah thats where i got the realisation that 'she' was a 'he'!
JB0 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 haha that can be a backstory all in itself! how would she evade medical etc...or perhaps changes when she gets splashed with hot water Or when they use a micloning chamber? There IS precedent for people undergoing large physical changes with size change.
Tochiro Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Hayate Immelmann. 17 y/o. A young man who speaks his mind and can be a little blunt at times. He is wandering the galaxy when he arrives on the scene.
renegadeleader1 Posted December 19, 2015 Author Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Immelmann? Really? BWAHAHAHAHAHAH-*cough*-*hack*-a. Edited December 19, 2015 by renegadeleader1
seti88 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) am sure it was pure coincidence a valk pilot would have a surname of the german dogfighting ace... is this a comedic set-up, for him to fail to do the manuever i dont thk kawamori wouldnt do that... ...wonder why is he wandering the galaxy...shades of vajra attacks? plus his jacket reminds me of the vf-30 color scheme for some reason! Edited December 19, 2015 by seti88
Raptor One Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Nice design. "Speaks his mind"?? "A little blunt"?? "Wandering the galaxy"?? Alto and Sheryl's time-displaced son* confirmed!! *Or de-aged Alto with a new alias
seti88 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 (edited) Or when they use a micloning chamber? There IS precedent for people undergoing large physical changes with size change. i gather thats fine for size but not for altering one's physical shape. Edited December 19, 2015 by seti88

If there aren't characters named Bishop, Richthofen, and Boelcke in this series I'm going to be severly dissapointed.
JB0 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 i gather thats fine for size but not for altering one's physical shape. Two words. Klan. Klan. In the right person, micloning can cause a DRASTIC change in shape.
seti88 Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 If there aren't characters named Bishop, Richthofen, and Boelcke in this series I'm going to be severly dissapointed. Actually i tot those would suit the aerial knights side. if they do appear tho, well call it a fantasy pilot draft and i would expect all valks to be unbeatable! what are the odds for a maverick, iceman or goose too cant wait for more annoucements! Two words. Klan. Klan. In the right person, micloning can cause a DRASTIC change in shape. Oh yeah! well klan sorta aged too which explained her appearence and personality. But I never got that around my head and just accepted the character.. she is a unique character!
sketchley Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Immelmann? Really? BWAHAHAHAHAHAH-*cough*-*hack*-a. One must keep in mind that the average viewer in the target audience won't know very much about foreign names or their significance and any hidden meanings that they might posses - let alone the aeronautical significance of them! Maybe the best way to illustrate it is with this rhetorical question: "What does Basara Nekki's name mean, and what are the nuances and implications of the kanji that are used in the context of his character?" Just like how the majority of us English speaking viewers aren't even aware that there is an additional significance and hidden meaning to that character's name, the new young viewers that Macross Delta is targeting won't about these new characters. The names are probably intended to be in-jokes for those new fans that bother to look them up - and perhaps a nod to us international fans, too. After all, us MWers know much more about those sorts of things than the average person, eh.
RedWolf Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 Blunt eh? He is going to call one of the girls Obasan isn't he?
Marzan Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 In a big twist, midway through the series Hayate will be revealed to be travelling the galaxy looking for his long lost father, Nekki Basara.
