nostromorolls Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Been waiting - waiting - waiting... Did I mention Waiting... Seems today after having OCT Re Stock on there web site...these kits are now BACKORDERED...I have a pending order...and waiting to hear back from HLJ on What happened..... HOWEVER - I have a plan for these models and a Model Contest rapidly coming up....I want these kits in my hands (I ordered two) as soon as possible. I live in Canada, and I realize that there are no North American Distributers for these kits - I think Can anyone help and show me where I might be able to order these??? THANK YOU ALL Quote
mickyg Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Try here: http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/item_s-1680181.html Bear in mind, these are occasionally second hand items but often store front or damaged box items. Also worth noting, they tend to be a bit pricey for their shipping charges. Make sure you're aware of how much the kit weighs and factor in a fair bit for the shipping box, then use that weight to compare with their listing for shipping rates here: http://www.mandarake.co.jp/en/information/qa_hand.html They get cranky if you make an order, then discover shipping is too high after the fact. Otherwise, they're pretty easy to use and shipping to me in Australia was very quick: 1 week from the time I ordered to when it arrived. Quote
vincemoto7 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Starship Modeler says they have 2, they also have the Max/Milia w/ RMS missiles in stock... http://starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm/category/61/macross.html Quote

nostromorolls Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Thanks again...yes to pics as the build develops... I'm in Nova Scotia, the only show that I know of in Ontario is the one at the Heritage Museum in Hamilton. I hope I can get this paid for BEFORE the kits find other HOMES!!! Good Night ALL! Quote
Zinjo Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I live in Canada, and I realize that there are no North American Distributers for these kits - I think You can blame the high costs of shipping and the exchange rates for this, as it often makes then retail markup unappealing to walk in traffic and then you add that Canada has tariffs on Japanese goods like this, it brings the price up even more... Your best bet is to order directly from Japanese online stores like: Hobby Link Japan,( http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Dis=2&qid=9BDWXLE2FF&q=1&DisplayMode=grid&Word=macross&set=1&Sort=releaseDate+desc&gclid=Cj0KEQjw8aeiBRCknPXk-u_V_4gBEiQAD2-mgSLaaszku0yBNN-qZgpdrz74-2YiaJf4M8ISd69XDtUaAhAL8P8HAQ) Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/693/0/1) Or Some North American Dealers like: Starship Modeller (http://starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm/category/61/macross.html) Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dtoys-and-games&field-keywords=macross&sprefix=macro%2Ctoys-and-games ) But you'll be paying extra than you would by importing directly. modelglue Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Ordering through HLJ has been the least expensive lately. I get nailed with duties using the yahoo japan brokers, and even ordering through the states I can see a $10-20 duty fee. My history with HLJ has been spotty with regard to low stock and restocks, but the reasonable SAL option coupled with duty free shipments makes them the current winners. Quote
Darth Mingus Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Actually, you can thank Harmony Gold for not having these models available in NA. I've been able to beat HLJ's prices using Hobby Search or AmiAmi. Quote
nostromorolls Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Well - Couldn t get through to Starship Modeller - so my order was cancelled. THEN - HLJ contacted me that the order was in and to top it all off it was 20.00 US cheaper Than Starship!!! So guess what - the order cleared Custom's today so I should have it soon!!! Duty - Taxes - Etra fee's will soon see!!! My friends, Thank You ever so much for reply ing - and weighing in on this!!! Will post Development shots of the build - CAN YOU post pics directly here??? Quote
mickyg Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 You can indeed! They get scaled down a bit but there's no limit to the number you can post (if I recall correctly). Post away! Looking forward to seeing some progress. I don't think I've seen any in-progress builds of the 1/48 kits. Either I was away when people were building them and missed it, or there simply haven't been any posts here. Either way - bring it on! Quote
modelglue Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) Oh yes, post away! (Haha, snipered by Mickyg) Edited October 27, 2014 by modelglue Quote

Here in the US there are no duty taxes on toys or hobby items, I would think it would be the same for Canada. Can't wait to see some pics of your progress. I am also waiting for a 1/48 build up. modelglue Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Here in the US there are no duty taxes on toys or hobby items, I would think it would be the same for Canada... I wish that were true. I only ever order from online sources outside of Canada. It depends but some places I get charged duty, others like HLJ I do not. Quote
