Most of the "mehs" aren't even ratings, they're just people saying it looks/sounds bad so they won't see it now, they'll wait for Netflix. And I think that's just because MW hates everything that came after the '90s.

It's hardly OUR fault that the twenty-first century is nothing but disappointment and heartbreak. How's a man supposed to enjoy life when it's 2015 and he still doesn't have a flying car? Edited by JB0

So true..we're, like, 15 years behind the projection, and not even a damned hoverboard, let alone a flying car. <_< Actually, the way they drive here, it's probably a good thing.

Just got back from seeing it, and thought it a good sequel to the original. There are some nice nods to Jurassic Park throughout. I was hoping there'd be at least a cursory mention of Alan Grant or Ian Malcolm, but sadly, no. While the basic formula is still in place, what I liked best was the mirroring of real world amusement park mentality: always looking to create a bigger, better thrill to lure more visitors in and liberate them of their hard earned money. As with all these movies, there had to be Kids-In-Peril so kids in the audience had someone to relate to, I guess. Wish they'd been eaten, but no. Chris Pratt made a good hero, albeit quite watered down compared to his Star-Lord. I got a little bit of an Indiana Jones-ish feeling from some of the scenes. Anyway, seeing the dinos up on the big screen reeking havoc again made for a nice Sunday afternoon.

The controller geeks workstation had Ian Malcom's fake book "God Created Dinosaurs" sitting on it. Oh and not really related but there was a vintage snowspeeder toy missing its canopy sitting on the kid's shelf in the begining of the movie.

Just watched this film in 3D, and it is a worthy successor to the first film. Jurassic World knows very well that it's not as good as Jurassic Park, but it brings back the original film's level of dinosaur terror - only with more dinosaurs and a larger playground. Sure, the idea of training Velociraptors is far-fetched, but it actually works well with the storyline. Oh yeah, the most implausible thing throughout the film is not any of the dinosaur action, but Bryce Dallas Howard running around the entire island on high heels. That being said, Jurassic World is a much better sequel than The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III.

Interesting to hear that the trailers are misleading. The trailers put me off the movie big time but I might have to change my mind about seeing it in the theater based on the reviews and impressions here.

I've seen it twice now and really enjoyed it. As a big dinosaur fan, I also really appreciated the line by Dr. Wu explaining why the dinosaurs look the way they do. Comparing this movie with JP is unfair as JP had the advantage of the wow factor since nothing like it was seen before. Kind of like one of the themes in JW, people have just become use to the spectacle. JP didn't have that disadvantage.

Indeed, Dr. Wu's identifying the underlying need to fix the error in the DNA retrieved, also revisited why the Raptors from JP didn't look like actual Raptors. It really did a good job of showing the Raptors weren't "trained" so to speak, but that Owen (Pratt) had become the alpha through training them to trust him in feeding and hunting skills. Without spoiling anything, there was a lot of feels in that end sequence. mainly from the bonds you gained from Owen's work with showing everyone that these Dino's didn't know they were created, and they feel pain just as much as any animal.

It was even almost a little animal preachy in that regard. But there were a ton of little easter eggs in that movie for the trained eyes.

It's obvious the sequel will involve InJen doing some shady work probably with the miliarization of dinosaurs, but if that means Rex's chomping tanks, and raptors killing terrorists... and eventually inJen guys.. I'M IN!!

VERY misleading, almost like "Who was in charge of this trailer project? They need to be fired." kind of misleading.

I talked to a couple of co workers who are dead set against the film and think it's god awful from two things, "raptor trained" and "communicating". I shook my head and told them it wasn't the case at all. The only thing that'll piss them off watching it are the two kids who served very little purpose other than to connect to the younger audience, and all the blasted product placement. Verizon, Samsung, Ben & Jerry's, Zales or whatever. I mean a big ass sign saying "SAMSUNG's Hammond Research Center" Spared no expense.

For once, I didn't mind the product placement, as it takes place at a theme park (which always thrives on product placement). And let's not forget Margaritaville, with CEO Jimmy Buffett making a cameo appearance as one of the guests running away from the Pterosaur swarm.

Not in the mood for margaritas? On a tight dining budget? There's Yoshihoya and Jamba Juice at the park.

Speaking of parks have you guys ever done the Jurassic Park ride at Universal Studios? It's pretty fun. On the same note Universal Studios is the best amusement park in Orlando, way better than Disney's. Especially the Harry Potter Forbidden Journey ride, it's the best ride ever!!

I've been to the original JP ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. Still the best water-based ride I've taken.

I was dead set against the trained Raptor thing too, the communication issue never made sense to me given how many other animals can actually communicate with each other.

Given that I now understand that this is like a completed theme park in the style Hammond had always envisioned the product placement stuff you mentioned seems pretty realistic given EVERY major sports arena on the planet is named for a company.

Nope. For now, the Sapporo Dome is still called the Sapporo Dome. Same with Tokyo Dome and Nagoya Dome.

It's much more rare, and only with very old stadiums, for the most part. The list of ones named after companies quickly outstrips those retaining their classic names, at least wrt US Pro Sports.

I'm naming and then some. JPIII was way better than JPII.

Agreed.

But since they both sucked badly, what is the difference?

I dunno. I picked up the Blu-ray box set, and the wife and I watched one a week leading up to JW. III was much better than I remembered. I loaned them to my parents who also wanted to watch them before JW, and my dad said he liked III the best (although I definitely wouldn't go that far).

I think some folk liked III the most because it was better than the second film and had way more dino action than the first.

Yup, that'd be me. :p Actually, I wouldn't say I liked JPIII the most, since the original JP is still the best in my book.

I watched T. rex Autopsy on YouTube. As with all dinosaur media, the accuracy of this show is questionable due to the ongoing lack of information we have on the t-rex. Even after over 300 years, no one has dug up a completely intact t-rex fossil. Sure, most of the show is guesswork, but it's a very convincing theory of how the t-rex's diet worked.

Also, given that the cause of death was ruled out to be a broken neck, one can't help but reference the BS fight with the Spinosaurus in JP3.

I will have to say that Stan Winston would be proud of the team that crafted that t-rex carcass, guts and all.

Well, finally found time and took the kids to watch it in 3D. It took forever since my daughter is CDO (OCD spelled correctly) and had to watch the first three movies before she could watch this one.

While predictable, it was still a movie the kids liked. They've actually seen it twice now. One day apart. Which is rare for my kids.

As I first started watching this I wasn't sure how to take it. But then I relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it did pull off a lot of the charm that the first one had. I also enjoyed it more than age of ultron.

Saw it yesterday with my wife and son.

Enjoyed it well enough, typical Hollywood leave-your-brain-at-the door summer-blockbuster fare.

Chris Pratt was enjoyable enough as usual.

Have to say I've never been a huge fan of any of the Jurrasic Park movies, thought they were OK, but they never blew me away. I think I definitely rate Jurrasic World higher than any of the original three.

As to how it ranks on my enjoyment level of movies so far this year, I enjoyed it more so than Age of Ultron and rate it about the same as San Andreas. But my favourite and highest rated movie this year so far is without a doubt Fury Road.
