areaseven Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) The Interview is an upcoming action comedy film directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (This Is the End) and stars Rogen (The Green Hornet, Dale in Pineapple Express) and James Franco (Saul in Pineapple Express, Will in Rise of the Planet of the Apes), along with Lizzy Caplan (Claire in Marvel One-Shot: Item 47, Amy in True Blood), Randall Park (Governor Chung in Veep), Diana Bang, and Timothy Simons (Jonah in Veep). Also appearing are Eminem (overrated rapper), Rob Lowe (former '80s sex tape scandal figure) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Don Jon, Blake in The Dark Knight Rises) as themselves. In the film, Rogen and Franco play celebrity journalists who travel to North Korea to interview Kim Jong-un, but are ordered by the CIA to assassinate him. The film opens in theaters on Christmas Day. Official Site The Interview @ IMDb Edited January 1, 2015 by areaseven Quote
TangledThorns Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Looks hilarious! I hope I'll be able to find the time to see it in the theater. Quote

ambient73 Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Looks unbearable...which is pretty standard for anything involving Rogen or Franco. Them together?...instant pass. Quote
Roy Focker Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 That looks really bad. The first teaser trailer you got posted here makes it seem at least look bearable to watch. This last one makes it just god awful looking. Quote
Kanedas Bike Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 No, that Red Band trailer does not inspire confidence. That said This is the End was amazing, so that will earn The Interview at least an initial "I'll watch it on Cable/Netflix", if word of mouth about this is outstanding then maybe I'll see it at the theater. -b. EXO Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 People just take their comedies way too seriously... except for Adam Sandler and anything produced by the Wayans... they Suuuuuck!!! Quote
areaseven Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 It's been heavily implied that this film was responsible for Sony Pictures Entertainment's servers getting hacked late last month. The perpetrator was supposedly North Korea, as they've made threats over this film. Quote

Hikuro Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 theater premiere was canceled and a number of theaters are deciding to not show due to the vague threats of guardians of peace. hypocritical much for the name? Quote
areaseven Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 To no surprise, the critics are not impressed. Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 46% Metacritic Score: 54 out of 100 IGN liked it, though. Seems like a guilty pleasure at most... until Jeremy Jahns and Chris Stuckmann post their reviews. Quote

azrael Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 It's now at 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. Sony should release it online. Quote
Dynaman Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 As much as I thought that movie looked like crap (and it does, I could feel my IQ going lower while the trailer for it was playing) I am disturbed that it was canceled due to terrorism or extortion (choose whichever description you think most appropriate) Quote
Gubaba Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, The Room, and Invasion from Inner Earth have played in more movie theaters than The Interview will... Quote
Einherjar Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 The Asylum wouldn't have backed down if they were behind this or the eventual knock off. Quote
TangledThorns Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 This incident should be taken more seriously, it's an act of war IMHO. If NK can do this to a huge corporation like Sony then our financial institutions, infrastructure and power grid are dangerously at risk too. Quote
kanedaestes Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I've seen all the comments online about this and how people are upset or how we let the terrorists win. I agree with TangeldThomas, while its been mostly a massive hacking situation who knows how far they were truly willing to go. This is the safest move to do. Quote

I appreciate you agreeing with me but we shouldn't cave into threats or extortion, even over what may be a crappy movie this is still a threat on our way of life. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 All I'm seeing here is they just not gonna release it on Christmas....which was a horrible date to begin with. But whatever, didn't wanna see the movie anyways, it's sony's loss but also shows that we can't protect ourselves without big brother stepping in : / bring on the government control. Quote
jenius Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I hope they release it in mid-January or something... letting the terrorists win seems like a really bad precedent to set. Quote
TangledThorns Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 The more I think about this the Japanese are the ones that should consider this an act of war. RAISE THE YAMATO! Quote
azrael Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I'm guessing this ruckus is all stemming from this scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALYw9eJ_jf0 The likelihood that just the sheer stupidity of this film would have been its demise, but gotta love NK for hyping this film up now. It won't have even made it to NK. Quote

Isn't the hack just making it more readily available on the Internet instead? As well as raising its profile from "dumb. unfunny comedy that'll have maybe one good week at the box office" to "major political cause." Quote
JB0 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Dear Sony Pictures: Good call cancelling the movie's release. It was the safe thing to do. Now put it up on YouTube, in full. Show the terrorists who REALLY won today. Sincerely, JB I honestly think nothing was going to happen. The "terrorists" were too grandiose in their claims. "If you live near a movie theater, leave"? Really? Are they going to nuke the movie? That said... you can't bomb every computer in America. Quote

Tking22 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I honestly would have watched this, damn shame. Hopefully Sony will release it on demand somehow, if I remember right it had a 40 million dollar budget, and Sony's not doing great overall, so they gotta make some of that back somehow. I really don't get Kim Jong-un's problem, his father got it much worse in Team America World Police, but I guess, in the end, he was just a little lonely. Quote
