areaseven Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Coming this fall on Adult Swim is Mike Tyson Mysteries, starring former boxing champion Mike Tyson himself. Quote
Phyrox Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I don't get it. How is this guy not a pariah? You can "bounce back" from a rape conviction? Make racist comments and you kill your career. Ok, fair enough, I'm on board with that. Rape someone and you get to be a quirky pop culture icon, and you might get your own cartoon? Quote

JB0 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Mike Tyson Mystery #1: Who in Zophar's name greenlit this project? Quote

JB0 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 http://rpg-home.lunar-net.com/lunarweb/lunar2mcd/bosses/omni_zophar.gifProbably not the picture I would've chosen to represent everyone's favorite nigh-omnipotent evil space fairy, but... yeah, that guy. Quote
Dynaman Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Well, it is Adult Swim. A cartoon block devoted to swimming in the sewer. Quote
Mommar Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 "Ain't got no time for bird sex" is surprisingly catchy if you're listening in the background at work. Quote
reddsun1 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 God help me, this actually made me chuckle. I feel so guilty. Is that Norm MacDonald as an alcoholic, lecherous, talking pigeon? Meh, I'm in. Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 How the hell has A1 not commented on this yet? Quote
areaseven Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) And now, a word from our sponsors... Edited November 10, 2014 by areaseven Quote
JB0 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 is this a joke? You know, when I saw this thread, I immediately checked the date to make sure it wasn't April 1st again somehow. Quote
Agent ONE Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I don't get it. How is this guy not a pariah? You can "bounce back" from a rape conviction? Make racist comments and you kill your career. ... Pretty much. How about Mark Wallberg or Roman Polanski? How the hell has A1 not commented on this yet? I am more excited about this than any show to date ever. Mike is awesome. Criminal history is definitely not a plus for the guy, but watch his 2009 documentary... The guy basically grew up a wild animal. Quote
Chronocidal Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Having only seen the single frame of animation shown on the youtube preview, I'm going to say... Scooby Don't? Quote
Gakken85 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Big Tyson fan here. Looks amazing. I wonder if his catch phrase will be, "I'll frakk you til you love me happy person." Quote

But I will say that it seems like he's taking a genuine stab at being decent now and that's enough for me to give him another chance. Personally knowing several individuals who have struggled with a difficult childhood is enough for me to respect his attempt to change. Quote

I think if you had a shitty life and grew up the way Tyson grew up, and got falsely accused of rape and had to spend years in prison being screwed up even more, plus everybody who hung around you stole your money and left you when you were down.... you wouldn't be a shining example of a human being either. I think he did the best with what he had, plus he became an elite athlete. That's more than most people can say. Cus was the only guy who cared about him and treated him like a human and when he died... If anybody wants to really know who he is I suggest the documentary "TYSON". Really good. Quote

Not sure why this is necessary, I already said I respect him for giving an honest effort to sort his life out. Quote

areaseven Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 (edited) "To the Mystery Mobile!" And while we're at it, go watch Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth. What better way to know the guy than to let him speak his mind on stage? Edited April 18, 2016 by areaseven Quote
reddsun1 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 This could quite possibly fill the void left when the Venture Brothers ended... *best announcer voice* Tune in October 27th, and see Mike Tyson punch a T-Rex da fu*k out! Quote
aerocombatpilot Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 The only thing he's never beat the s#it out of? Buster Douglas! Quote
reddsun1 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Venture Bros is over? I can't remember the last time I've seen it on the CN. But I'll be the first to admit I only tune in sporadically at best lately. Quote
Keith Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 VB Season 6 - January, with an hour long special soon. Quote
reddsun1 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) Woot! Between VB, Mike Tyson Mysteries, and Rick and Morty, CN may actually attain relevance for me again; give me cause to laugh once more... Edited October 13, 2014 by reddsun1 Quote
reddsun1 Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) I swear, I hope somebody's rotoscoping some of this footage somewhere, to work into some episodes.... Just straight destroying motha fu**as...if you can find footage with more wide-angle(?) shots, you really can see the power in his punches literally starting in his feet and coming all the way up through his body. Now I wanna see him do that to some ghosts and monsters and aliens and sh*t... Edited October 13, 2014 by reddsun1 Quote
modelglue Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Americans love a good redemption story. I woke my wife up laughing. MTM is further proof that while some of us are seeking enlightenment through anime, the remainder of humanity circles the drain. Quote
