Well, this the first time I had a major breakage on a 1/60 V2 VF-1 in a long time. So will Tamiya extra thin plastic cement be best for fixing this?

Sorry dude, same happened to my Max 1A. I used plastic weld to fix it. It's held so far.

Interesting, so this breakage has happened on someone else's VF-1 copy. I wonder if the plastic just wasn't molded correctly or maybe it was just poorly handled at the factory. I'll try some glue a friend recommended.

Ouch!

Is the Yamato or the Arcadia version? Which shop did you guy bought it from?

I don't think the Tamiya thin-cement can secure it properly, but you can try.

It's the Arcadia version. I bought it from a member on this board.

Tamiya thin-cement definitely not good enough. Try Plastic Magic from Deluxe Materials. This is a beast for joining plastic of most types.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try this if the glue a friend recommended does not work.

Just make sure you try it first on some plastic before applying it directly to the figure.

If you want, I could probably recreate that piece and put it on shapeways. Has anyone else had their neck break like that?
