Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) I started teaching myself blender a couple weeks ago. This last weekend I made this: A week ago, I made a humanoid figure out of polygons based on an arcade cabinet video game the characters were playing in Southern Cross: Next, I was thinking about making a model of the Sharon Apple computer box: What other simple objects are there in these series that I could practice on while working my way up to transformable valkyries? Gerli Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Do some weapons... like Missiles and Gunpods (So later you can use them on your next proyect) Fastpacks, etc. Quote
Mr March Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Agreed. Weapons like missiles and guns would be a great place to start. The gun pods especially since they are some of the most important mechanical designs in the anime, yet tragically undrepresented in any art or 3D modeling. You might also try fold boosters and different things like cannon emplacements. Quote
Zinjo Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 How about some non-canon mods like the armor components from the Armored GERWALK? Quote
Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 I don't think I've heard of a non-canon armored gerwalk. You're not talking about this, are you? Quote
Mr March Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) I think YF-30 Zinjonos (*wink*) is talking about the old concept art showing an Armored configuration for the VF-1J GERWALK. Edited July 18, 2014 by Mr March Quote
Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) Oh that's interesting. Is there any more of this? I'm a long way from anything like that, though. This, on the other hand, is just an abonimation: Edited July 18, 2014 by Galaxy_Stranger Quote
Gerli Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Hey... it's just like with Kerbals... when in doubt, add more boosters. Quote

This, on the other hand, is just an abonimation: I'm pretty sure that is fan art by someone very good at editing line art. I don't ever recall seeing such an animal in official publications. Quote
chillyche Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 There are lots of little items, the soda machines, the trash collector roomba drone thingies, definitely micro-missiles, gunpods, and missiles. I had a good time practicing making an RMS-1 a while back. Check it: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=28292&p=786086 Quote
Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 25, 2014 Author Posted July 25, 2014 Very cool stuff. What 3d program are you using? Quote
chillyche Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 That's 3ds Max. I have no idea what version that was, maybe 2009? Currently using 2013. Quote
