Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 What is this kind of schematic called? I'm having trouble finding this type of image for all the Macross vehicles so I can make 3D models: http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo32/MatthewTan85/VF1X_decal_placement.jpg TIA. Quote
EXO Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Orthographic Multiview, multiview drawings or 3 view drawings Quote
mechaninac Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 They're also sometimes referred to as plan and elevation views (far more so in architecture than mechanical engineering, however); projection views drawing is another name used. But which ever way you call them, they are all blueprints. Quote
frothymug Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 That one is still technically missing the front view, but you get the idea. Quote
Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 Yeah, thanks - I needed the vocaulary to do google searches. Can't seem to find every angle. Quote
EXO Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 It's rare that they have orthographics for Macross Valks. The Hasegawa VF-1 is one of the few but most of the time the lineart is isometric. And when you do find 2 to 3 views of a macross mech, they don't line up. Quote
Mr March Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Whatever you do, I please ask that you don't make a 3D model from the orthographics you posted in your orignal post. The legs/engines in those schematics are wrong. I have a very good scan of Kawamori's original VF-1 schematics, which I'll include here. There are schematics of many different variable fighters in a number of the old, out of print art books for the Macross series. Debate rages about the accuracy of the older schematics (for which critics are mostly right to question) but priority was not placed on complete orthographic diagrams (fighter, GERWALK, battroid) for most of the valkyries. The Master File series of books do include rather extensive orthographic diagrams of the various variable fighters, so you may want to look at purchasing those books. I have the VF-1, VF-19 and VF-25 books and they all have orthographics of the valkyries. Quote
Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 You know what would work is if you bought a model and took flat photos of all the parts. That would work great. Quote
Galaxy_Stranger Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 I just ordered this book from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Macross-Variable-Fighter-Master-Squadrons/dp/4797372737/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405621780&sr=1-1&keywords=Macross+Variable+Fighter+Master+File Is that a good one for Orthographics? Also, I was thinking about getting this one: http://www.amazon.com/Macross-Variable-Fighter-Master-File/dp/B007X67LAQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405621780&sr=1-2&keywords=Macross+Variable+Fighter+Master+File And this one: http://www.amazon.com/Macross-Variable-Fighter-Master-File/dp/B007X64T56/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1405622436&sr=1-1&keywords=Macross+Variable+Fighter+Master+File%3A+VF-1+Valkyrie+Part+2 Quote
Mr March Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 The Variable Fighter Master File VF-1 Valkyrie Vol. 1 has several pages of orthographics. There are some individual schematics that are a little off, but most of the stuff is good material. Don't know yet about the other two volumes. Quote
