no3Ljm Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 My YF-19 ADVANCE!! Nice! Arcadia's YF-19 Advance FTW! Btw, if it's possible, can you take a close-up photo (probably rear show) on how the booster is attached or clipped during Battroid mode. Up to now, I'm really curious how they do it. And can you still swing the wing once the Booster is attached or clipped in Battroid mode? Thanks! Yeah! Especially that sexy arm-cannon... Any plans for the Bandai counterpart, Kurisama? Quote
Lolicon Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Oh my god that YF-19 Advance looks sick! Makes the Bandai version look like the Yamato version! Quote
jenius Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 So I got one of these kits and it came with little screws and washers so I was like YAY, i don't have to find those items.... Unfortunately, the screws and washers don't appear anywhere on the instructions and it seems like I need to get rods (1.5, 4mm and 1.5 12mm). Anybody know the best way to source those? Anyone who has built these remember needing a bunch of tiny screws and washers? Quote
Kurisama Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Surely you can get brass rods at your local hobby store? If not ebay? They're cheap as. Pics on your build please! Quote

jenius Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 I'm not sure I fully understand the instructions just yet but it looks like I only need 2 1.5 12mm and 2 1.5 4mm to complete them. I think everything else kind of pegs together. So I'm guessing buying online would net me way more than I want for more than I need to spend. I'm guessing Home Depot wouldn't have this stuff? Quote

Home depot almost certainly doesn't carry metric pins. You could also try Ebay and Amazon. You can also try getting the closest approximate sizes in Imperial (1/16"=1.5875mm) and drilling out the holes to match, and cutting the pins to length. [edit] If you want to try the imperial sized stuff, try this shaft: https://www.mcmaster.com/1257k3 and just cut out the appropriate lengths. Edited October 15, 2018 by Sanity is Optional Quote

Pins are for the missile pod arms and door hatch. I just went on ebay and HLJ for the materials. 1.5mm rods: https://hlj.com/al-line-1-5mm-3pcs-wavop363 I also ordered some ball joints to replace some of the ones for the main boosters since they were a bit loose. Forgot what size but I'll add the info if I can find them later. Maybe try a paper clip? Edit: Rittor said he used 17 gauge nails and dremeld them to fit. Edited October 15, 2018 by wmkjr Quote

Looks like those are cut to fit so it should work out for all my rod requirements. If you are able to track down other parts I should get, let me know! Quote

Here are some pics of the ball joints: Stock parts and when put together, the amount of looseness. Maybe you can use Future or something to build up the ball as an alternative. I cut off the ball ends and drilled a hole the same diameter as the Kotobukiya ball joints and trimmed the length to match. Here are pics of the instructions with the rod and missile arm parts unassembled and assembled (a screw/washer goes from the missile head + missile cradle + center hole in missile arm). jenius Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Super helpful! I think I'll try with the original ball joints to start and see if I can get a less permanent fix since I just need things to behave for a photos hoot or two. Quote
