SterlingMax Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Just saw this http://www.fandompost.com/2014/06/17/discotek-media-acquires-super-dimension-century-orguss-anime/ Just announced Orguss is coming to US DVD only first series from Discotek subbed including the Dub from US Renditions for the first 17 episodes. eriku Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Fantastic news! Wow, this is one I had always assumed would never get released here. Quote
SterlingMax Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Disappointed no Blu-Ray as it looks fantastic, the Japanese release price is too high without subs. I've never purchased a Discotek release but their prices on the site are reasonable. Quote
Sandman Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Finally! Been slapping myself for years for not jumping on the imaginanime release a few years back. Quote
DuelGundam2099 Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=39469&page=2 No offense to SM but we already have a topic. Quote
eriku Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 That other thread is for the Japanese Blu-Ray release. I appreciate the new thread for this US DVD as I never would have looked in the other thread since I have no interest in Japanese Blu-Ray sets. Quote
TheLoneWolf Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 DVD only? I was hoping that it'd be a blu-ray release, since I already own the ImaginAsian DVD set. But if Discotek redoes the subtitles to make them more faithful and uses physically pressed discs (unlike IA's burned discs), I might be tempted to make the jump again. Though, that largely would depend on the price. Quote
Hoptimus Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I was hoping Discotek got the BD license but honestly older anime if done well on DVD(nice crisp transfer ala SDF Animeigo) still look pretty nice on my 50" 1080p set. I am on this day one. Quote
technoblue Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) I am going to wait and see. Mostly because my ImaginAsian DVDs still work. Anime classics on blu-ray are too good for me to pass up. I'll probably start skipping DVD releases, unless the show is a true rarity. If there is a chance that a company will negotiate a BD license down the line, and bring another subtitled HD release to North America, then I'm willing to wait for it. Beltane70 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I'd only buy this release if it was on bluray since I already have the ImaginAsian release. Quote
jenius Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't have the ImaginAsian release so I might be down for this. I'll keep an eye on this thread for preorder info. Quote

Super Dimension Century Orguss original TV series complete collection episodes 1-35! Japanese with English subtitles. The first 17 episodes will also have the English dub! Quote
Primus1X Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Is it true Orguss aired on television in the USA once? If so, was it the dub and what days did it air on? Quote
Keith Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Is it true Orguss aired on television in the USA once? If so, was it the dub and what days did it air on? When Imagineasuan (was a badic cable channel) licensed it a fee years ago, they also broadcaat it, subtitled. Quote
Primus1X Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 On April 16, 2007, ImaginAsian announced that they would broadcast Super Dimension Century Orguss on ImaginAsian TV, and would thereafter give the series its first complete North American DVD release, with the first 17 episodes also having the old U.S. Renditions dub. So they announced it on April 16, 2007 but when did they begin airing it? Quote

Einherjar Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Don't recall the wxact dates, but I did flip past a couple eps while waiting for the DVD"s. I remember ImaginAsian streaming a couple of episodes on their website around that time. They were too far into the series for me to catch up though. Quote
Keith Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 A rep just posted over at the mania.com forums, look like we can wxpect a late July / August release. Quote

Keith Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Thanks! Been waiting to hear about this. Any word on price yet? Not yet, but all of Diiscotek's releases have been reasonable. Quote
Hoptimus Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Yeah pretty much. I wonder if their will be any new extras. Quote
Keith Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Up for pre-order. Set for 9/29. http://www.rightstufanime.com/Super-Dimension-Century-Orguss-DVD Quote
jenius Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 (edited) Just went to order this. It looks like you can order it but it also looks like it's out of stock. I'd assume it's out of stock and they just let you order in case they get more? Not sure I trust that. Does anyone know of a place where it's in stock? Edit - Duh, amazon is all over it. Keith Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Think I posted this in the toy topic, but same old pre-HF master, and much improved subs. I'd snag this again if Discotek decides to put it on BD, but I guess I'll be happy with their BD's for now. It just hurts to know how much better it could look. Quote
technoblue Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 ^Nice. I saw some examples of the improved Discotek subtitles while lurking on another forum. They do appear to be worth the double dip. Quote
spanner Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Im definitely gonna have to watch Ogruss at some point! The more I read about it the more interesting it gets! Quote
locidm Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 any thoughts on this release? Not a lot of hype, huh? Just found this thread so never mind on my post on the Orguss Bluray thread. Quote
jenius Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Just got my copy, not sure when I'll have a chance to watch it but looking forward to it. Quote

I'm looking forward to seeing more of what Discotek did with the subs. I also want to test a few key episodes later in the series, which don't always playback smoothly when watching my ImaginAsian DVD-Rs. Quote
jenius Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Just watched the first episode, the English subs are much better than the bootleg I watched once upon a time. The video leaves a lot to be desired though. I tried to watch it using VLC the first time but the interlace was so bad it was unwatchable. A second attempt in media player worked much better but still, far from crisp or vibrant. Quote
