areaseven Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 As all the Oscar talk is focused on The Revenant, I got around to watching Birdman. It's evident why Alejandro G. Iñárritu deserves all the praise. The editing and cinematography are so well-made that it's virtually a single camera shot throughout the entire film until its climax. The minimalist jazz drums really add to the hostile acting environment. And Michael Keaton really delivers his best performance ever, from his monologues as his alter-ego to the way he handles a local theater critic. Props also to Edward Norton, as he practically portrays himself in the film, given his real-life reputation with other producers and directors. Next month, I'll be watching The Revenant. If it's really as good as everyone says, then Iñárritu may be the first director in the modern era to score two consecutive Oscars - an achievement that hasn't been done since 1950. Quote
Duke Togo Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 The Revenant has some significant story issues, and Tom Hardy basically mumbles his way through the movie. However, the direction and cinematography are stellar, and Leo goes all out. Quote
Ladic Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 it's funny how he went from birdman to playing the vulture Quote
