Jasonc Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 OK, I figured I'd post this here. As my wife and I are getting ready to move into our new house (we'll be in by August), I had an opportunity to buy the Macross Plus Jamma board, as well as the Macross DYRL board, and am going to work on making these as two stand up, coin-op arcade games to put in our house. For anyone that knows, or has some experience working on coin-op arcade games, does anybody have a clear diagram of the wiring for power? I have the switching power soure already, JAMMA cable. I still need to buy the power cables, but is there anything else I need to consider for the power, like on/off switch, AC noise filter, or anything like that, or are these things unnecessary with the newer power supplies (referring to the AC filter). I'm also looking for some hi-res graphics to put on the side of the cabinet for both games, as well as something for the marquees in the front. I found the original one for the DYRL game, but not one for Macross Plus. Any help would be appreciated. working on this build will take awhile, but for now, I'm working on all he electrical parts to make this work. Thanks. Pics will be up eventually, once I start the wood work. Quote
505thAirborne Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Sounds like an awesome project (Mac Plus & DYRL), keep us posted and congrats on the new house! Quote

Jasonc Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) Sounds like an awesome project (Mac Plus & DYRL), keep us posted and congrats on the new house! Will do. I have the designs all done up, and will be using some good, large monitors for it. I just need to figure out what power supply stuff I need before I start building. His build is very nice for the first link. A little hard to read in spanish, but I understand enough to get it. Thanks for that. I will help. Edited May 1, 2014 by Jasonc Quote
Jasonc Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 Power supply and all the wiring is almost done. Just waiting on a distribution transformer and some extra wiring connectors and it's all done. Just got the A/C noise filter connected to the main power wire and to a fuse. Also have the voltage distributor block and power switcher just about wired up. Definitely need to practice my soldering again. Quote
Jasonc Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 Power supply setup 95% done. I'll be picking up a manual on/off single pole switch tomorrow at Home Depot that will eventually get routed to somewhere on the outside of the cabinet to power off the game when not in use, instead of having to go in the back and pull the plug out. Jasonc Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Out of curiosity, does anyone have a very hi res scan of this? Looking for this one and possibly another one to make a large (possibly vinyl print) for the sides of the arcade cabinet. Not sure if I want to double it on both sides, or put up another image on the other side. Anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Quote
WhiskeyDanger Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Hey Jason, I too am working on a Macross Plus arcade build, also running into some issues sourcing artwork; have you found high res versions of the art? Quote
Valkyrie Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Well, I tried. I realized that I have that logo on my Macross Plus LD box. But alas, it's not in the best shape. I can get you a 1200dpi scan, but I fear it'd take a lot of photoshop magic to make it worth printing. I do also have the Sharon Apple version of the logo if you want that for the other side of the cabinet. But the quality wouldn't be any better... Quote
