cool8or Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Great pictures, and gorgeos boxart! Thanks Jefuemon! But I'm thinking... Miria will be just a male pilot with Her Colors? May be we'll need to add some boobs and waist to give her some justice! Edited May 31, 2014 by cool8or Quote
Fatalist Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 That box art is screaming to be my next wallpaper! Quote
Checkmate Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I love it! For those of you who built a 1/48 before, did you have any problems with the base color (aside from white) showing through the kite decal? I had to paint a white circle first on a brown base color for my VF-1A. Quote
Chronocidal Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I'm pretty sure most of Hasegawa's VF-1 decals include a solid white circle decal to place the insignia over. I don't know how effective it is though, since I haven't gotten to that stage with any of my kits yet. Quote
joscasle Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 1/48 don't include the solid white circle. Quote
joscasle Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 The blue color that Hasegawa used for the MAX build I think is too dark IMHO and they used the color scheme for episode 30, the factory episode. The episode 27 schema for both valks is diferent, well the super pack color match the valkirie color. these is the Hasegawa blue vs the episode 30 max blue color: Quote
joscasle Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 I made a mistake, the color scheme Hasegawa used is for the episode 27, the battle with Boddole Zer’s main fleet. The picture I used is from Episode 30, the factory battle. As you can see the Super parts are all in the blue/gray color. Quote
TMBounty_Hunter Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 IMO, analog video sources should never, ever be used for color reference. Especially when it's really crappy, multi-generational copies like macross/robotech have suffered from for so long. It's pretty much worthless. If you're going to use video for color reference (which is in general not the best idea because of the variation in monitors/TVs as well as decoder settings) at least try to get the best available and use it merely as a guide and not the absolute definition. From the BDs (which is as close as you'll get to the original film): 27: http://i.minus.com/ipsmeghuHPljh.jpg 30: http://i.minus.com/iBlPL8kwxTbvG.jpg Sure Hasegawa's looks darker, but I like it more that way. A darker blue works better with a glossy finish, and the one on the reference model is fantastic. Quote

Kelsain Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) Yeah, and the FAST packs are WAY too big. Just compare them to the screenshot! Outrageous. Edited June 4, 2014 by Kelsain Quote
joscasle Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 I prefer the anime color. Usually Yamato's color are bad... Quote
close313 Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Dat old anime proportion tho, Millia's super pack ended where the chest plate ends. Anyways, I like the darker glossy blue that hasegawa used on the kit. Quote
Mommar Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 That should be the color of blue on the Arcadia TV SDF-1 that will never be made. I really do like that shade on Max's VF-1. Oh, the the Reaction warheads tips being red matches the Valk so well. Quote
anime52k8 Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 FYI, it's a model kit, you're going to have to paint it anyways, so just paint it the color blue that you want it to be. Quote
mslz22 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 HLJ states in stock this morning. I'm looking forward to getting them, more so that i can use the missiles for a DRYL 1A Hikaru build, I am counting on them selling the weapons pack separate at some point so I hope borrowing the missiles from this one works out.... NICE!! Are you gong to put some missles up for sale, till hasegawa puts theirs out . Quote
mslz22 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 No, just stealing the ones from Max and giving them to Hikaru, I can't imagine that they are not going to release a weapons pack. I will be using some left over UMM7's from the Club M kit that i will clean up a bit and add a little detail to so i can finish my 1a DYRL Hikaru up and test out the launch arm i made. mike NICE!! Chronocidal Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Any hint what color this one is molded in to start? I'm hoping white just for consistency, but I'm actually kind of tempted to mix and match pieces to make a TV 1S Hikaru with packs. Quote

If you want to be anime-accurate, what you need to do is get an extra "S" head from the previous release, paint the Skull 1 markings (or, take the decals from the other kit, too), then you've got Hikaru's Super ride. mslz22 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Got mine today, they must be planning a weapons pack at some point because the RMS comes with extra parts (not listed on the instructions as far as i can see) to have 2 RMS's joined together with one mount point, rather than 3 individual mount points for the TV style. I was also surprised at how big they were, closer in size to the Yamato rather than the Club M, so i will need to mod a Yamato UMM7 for my current build, unless they announce a full weapons package very, very soon as i am looking forward to finishing up the one i am working on. mike Quote
joscasle Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Hey Mike, is the box the same size of the Strike one? That was a huge box. Some one have a high rez image of both box ars, I want them for my wallpaper. Edited June 26, 2014 by joscasle Quote
mslz22 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 A quick look it seems to be the same size box.... Quote
close313 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I notice that the FAST PACK arm parts are the DYRL type. But I don't think it matters since it's covered up anyway. Quote
