Gundam@EFSF Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 How are the look n engineering comparing to do vf 19 advance? Thx Quote
neoexcaliber Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 (edited) How are the look n engineering comparing to do vf 19 advance? Thx It's based on the Yamato mold. The Arcadia mold is the latest version, excluding Bandai's VF19 Advance. It's still a good toy though. Edited August 1, 2015 by neoexcaliber Quote
Loop Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 I love the Yamato VF-19 molds, when they came out they were pretty hot and miles above the Yamato 1/60 YF-19. I bought every variant they produced and in multiples in some cases to form squads. Quote
Gundam@EFSF Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 loop, i saw it at 30000 yen at amiami, considering.... Quote
rasky Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Ugh, as much as Basara annoyed me at first, he kind of won me over at the end like he did with Gigil. I kinda want a Clown Valk, but I kinda don't either... Quote
derex3592 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Aww.....come on! You gotta have the Fire Booooomba! valk, it's just so... Booooomba! The sound booster is kinda goofy, but the Valk itself grows on you. Basara won me over in the end as well. I actually liked the character for the most part. Edited August 4, 2015 by derex3592 Quote
rasky Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Sigh, I was totally going to order it from Nippon Yasan at their great price, but then it sold out. https://www.nippon-yasan.com/figures/7455-macross-7-vf-19-kai-nekki-basara-special-with-sound-booster.html To be honest, I thought it would have sat around forever and was just waiting for it to be discounted further. Is Amiami the only place that might have it right now for a decent price? That is to say... does back order mean that they'll probably be able to get it? If so, I think I'll order it... BOMBA!! Edited August 4, 2015 by rasky Quote
barurutor Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Back order probably means don't hold your breath waiting for stock to come in, as this was built to order IIRC. You may have better luck getting the Yamato Kai and Sound Booster separately, or look in the for sale section of the forums. Quote
Loop Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Only difference is the new one includes the band figures and they swapped the Yellow for Metallic Gold. Back when I was making less money it was between the Alto YF-29 and the Basara VF-19 Kai and booster. I actually chose the Basara even though I was not a big fan of the face or the color scheme but wanted it for completeness and it was a new VF-19 mold. Once I got it, I was able to look past the colors as it was a great toy. I ended up getting the Alto later as Bandai did a reissue. Quote
rasky Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Okay, I ordered the VF-19 Basara on Amiami. Apparently that was the last one, as the order is now closed? Sorry, Gundam@EFSF... I hope I didn't take the one you were planning to get. I didn't know that was the last one. Let me know if you want it. I can try to see if I can cancel the order. Love your photos, by the way! Edited August 5, 2015 by rasky Quote
rasky Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Gundam@EFSF, I got a payment request from Amiami, and I just checked their site and it's available on backorder again! Guess they were able to get more. Ah, Basara, your stubbornness wins over Gamlin, Gigil, and now me too! Quote
Roanstalker Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Since the old thread is locked and its really long, just wondering if they ever rereleased the original set with fixed wing lights? or were they only ever fixed via contacting yamato? If so then is it possible to take apart the wings and flip them around? Thanks. Quote
jenius Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I believe there was more than one run of the 19k and all runs after the first were fixed. Quote
spanner Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 I believe there was more than one run of the 19k and all runs after the first were fixed. what was the issue with the original? wing lights? I have a Yamato 19K so how do I tell if its defective or not? Quote
Chronocidal Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I think the wingtip lights were just painted the opposite colors from what they're supposed to be (red on left wing, blue/green on right). Quote
Loop Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I have a spare set of corrected wings for my 1st run. I never checked the second one that I have, it never left the bubble wrap it came in. I e-mailed the shop that I bought it from when I found out they flipped the wing tip lights and Yamato was sending out fixed ones. Quote
spanner Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I think the wingtip lights were just painted the opposite colors from what they're supposed to be (red on left wing, blue/green on right). so the correct way is red left and blue green right yes? if so then mine is good! Quote
Lolicon Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Yes. Ships and aircraft are supposed to have a red port and green starboard running light. Quote
Roanstalker Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Thanks guys. So is the main problem with the Yamato/Arcadia 19s just the ankles? If I don't push them back too far they'll stay stiff? Quote
jenius Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Thanks guys. So is the main problem with the Yamato/Arcadia 19s just the ankles? If I don't push them back too far they'll stay stiff? No guarantees but that's been my experience. Basically, don't do much of anything in GERWALK mode and when in battroid mode stick to left/right rocking at the ball joint, not forward/back (toe up or down). Quote

I wish they had fixed this problem. If not on a rerun they could've tried to fix this on the subsequent 19 releases? Quote
Chronocidal Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 It's not something that'll be fixed in this design I think, because it's just an inherent problem with the ball joint itself. Never quite made any sense to me why the joint doesn't work well, it's apparently just molded unevenly, and doesn't hold its stiffness across the entire range of motion. Quote
Lolicon Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 After its first nosedive, I ended up taking the ankles apart and applying clear nail polish on the ball and socket. Now it can actually stay up in gerwalk. It's just too lose otherwise. Quote

Basically, don't do much of anything in GERWALK mode and when in battroid mode stick to left/right rocking at the ball joint, not forward/back (toe up or down). I noticed with mine even in Battroid it would want to slowly creep forward or backward even with the feet in a toe out position.. so I just switched it back to fighter mode which is where it will stay. Besides I just could never quite get use to that head with the clown face or with the optional mouth piece fitted.. After its first nosedive, I ended up taking the ankles apart and applying clear nail polish on the ball and socket. Now it can actually stay up in gerwalk. It's just too lose otherwise. its good to know there is always that option to help the situation even if its not a permanent fix to a bad design.. or is it!? after you applied the nail polish how has it held up? Quote
Lolicon Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 It can hold a pose like a champ now, even in gerwalk. Quote
spanner Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 That's awesome! like I said its good to have that option in order to make it properly poseable but I think a 19 in Gerwalk isn't on the cards for me.. even though its my fav Valkyrie mode just not on a 19.. Quote
Lolicon Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) While it's a simple fix, I will say the same thing I've said about many Bandai releases: for such expensive toys, I shouldn't have to "fix" it right out of the box like this. Though I did get my VF-19 from the bargain bin, so, uhh... Edited August 30, 2015 by Lolicon Quote
spanner Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 While it's a simple fix, I will say the same thing I've said about many Bandai releases: for such expensive toys, I shouldn't have to "fix" it right out of the box like this. Though I did get my VF-19 from the bargain bin, so, uhh... haha! maybe its an intentional thing the manufacturers do to add to the consumer experience! Fix, transform, pose & play! but yeah its annoying nonetheless.. considering the premium these toys demand now days they shouldn't require out of the box fixes.. As much as I hate waiting for stuff to release, they could add another month or two to the wait time and do a little more testing and quality control to ensure the final product doesn't require those irritating fixes. But that would only add to the final price.. and probably not worth their time. Its like they design them so that most of the joints only hold out long enough for a few transformations figuring the consumer will then pop it on display and be done with it.. Quote
Roanstalker Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 So I just got this in. Trying to lock down battroid mode but the chest nubs that are supposed to lock into the holes near the canards don't want to move in place (they'll reach but wont actually lock down. Is there a trick to this? Quote
ChaoticYeti Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Do you have the rest of the cockpit, and gullet transformed properly? Quote
Roanstalker Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) I think so? It has so many bars that kinda float there before the chest closes down. At least it looks like it according to the manual. Edit: Figured it out. Didn't realise the bar that connects to the nosecone was on a track. Edited September 3, 2015 by Roanstalker Quote
