satoshitomi Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Hi all! This is my latest work; I'm learning airbrushing and weathering/aging techniques. Still needs some touch-ups, some black pigment around exhausts and mounting of nose antennas (I'm currently painting them). Maybe I will spray a light matte coat, because to me it still looks too shiny (despite the satin varnish applied). Thank you everybody for comments. UPDATE: posted new photos, scroll down page Bye! EXO Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I like it. The scaling of the weathering may be a bit off because it looks like a metal toy with some weight on it. maybe lighter colors with smaller specks (thinner paint on the weathering?) Otherwise it's really good if you're just learning how to AB. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Sweet, nice weathering, I agree, a bit of matte coating and the weathering will look more subtle. Quote
satoshitomi Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) I totally agree with you for the need of a matte coat (and that the chipping is something off scale...). I did some touch ups, used tamiya weathering pigments for engine exhausts, a drop of clear gloss to the red lights, and added the painted antennas. The last touch is a coat of final acrylic matte varnish. Thank you for all the comments. Next kits will be the Regult and the Monster, something larger for better handling.... I think I will reduce the aging process, and I will try to keep them with a "newer" and less weathered look. Bye! Edited April 5, 2014 by satoshitomi Quote
Mr March Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Wow! This is a stellar-level version of the Glaug! The detail is very impressive and I like all the wear/weathering. Amazing work. Quote
MechTech Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Great finish on it, epspecially if this is an "early" venture for you with an airbrush! For some reason the photos keep reminding me of the Macross Modelling Manual (especially when it was glossy). - MT Quote
satoshitomi Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Thank you guys for replying and for your magnanimous comments!@MechTech: What is "Macross Modeling Manual" and where I can find it? (pardon my ignorance, I'm a novice) Edited April 7, 2014 by satoshitomi Quote
MechTech Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Sorry, it's an old book from the 80's long out of print now. - MT Quote
