1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) Ok I thought it would be a good idea to put all transformation instructions right in one big thread and round up toys from the old days right up to today. If it's a macross toy whether a valk or a SDF-1, (or variants like the macross quarter) or a VB type robot, it all counts as toy from macross and your video or step by step photo instructions or scans of manuals can all go here for easy reference. Whether you need it because you lost your instructions, wanted to archive it yourself but were too lazy, or just want to see how toys you don't own yourself transform, this is the place to put it, For me? I generally don't transform my toys very often so whenever I want to do it on the rare occassion that I am too lazy to open up the box where I left them, and read the step by step manual. So what I like to do is go to youtube and watch a video and pause at each step which makes it far easier. For those of us who don't open the boxes of your collections you probably have no need for this but for the rest of us this is our place to remind us how something should transform when we forget and want a quick reference. lol I recently sold an old yamato monster to a fan of transforming toys and told him I would love to present the thing in its box in bomber mode but forgot how to transform it without wrecking it or doing steps in the wrong order so I just gave it to him with the empty box and toy in gerwalk mode. lol That's how lazy I can be. Maybe along with this you can put in things like sticker guides as well as translated pages of the transformation instruction if you wish so that the japanese text in the pages can be read by english-only speaking people. But the main thing is transformation of toys. Thanks. All contributions help us to not wreck these toys as they seem to be getting more expensive so when we first buy them we want to be 100% sure not to make mistake. The community would appreciate it. Especially when you own loads of transformers and other toys which you have to remember steps for. Certain toys I have had I never transformed them more than 3 times. ie My SV-51 for instance. mechaninac Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Great idea to have repository thread for transformation tutorials and video links... this should be pinned, too. Quote
SuperSenpai Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Just a suggestion, but whenever a link is posted, would it be possible to edit the original post to index them all? That way we wouldn't have search through the entire thread, since I foresee there being a lot of responses. Quote

That way we wouldn't have search through the entire thread, since I foresee there being a lot of responses. Maybe I delete this thread, hand that responsibility over to mod and we start this again since they are going to be the most active here. With me I go through periods where i am not active in the boards and suddenly more active and so on which means it won't get updated as reliably. If it is important enough to get pinned then I think that would be a good idea. But if only a few people use it then maybe just leave it as is. Quote
Mommar Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Having a pinned thread for transformation video's would really be a good idea, especially for anyone new having trouble who stumbles across this site. I think it would be a really nice feature. Quote

1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) We should add every single possible YT video here Anything that is super expensive and complex to transform really benefits from video and commentary. There are certain things about the older yamato stuff to really pay attention to like how the VB-6 pegs can break easily if you are not careful, that need to be mentioned in videos for first-time owners. The money people spent on something can vary. If you got yours at bargain price maybe you are not so cautious but for those who bought it 2nd hand out of box, no manual, but in ok condition and at high price, (it's old and out of production so you had to go to ebay as last resort for instance) the video can save them guesswork. It can be scary the first time you transform something. What if say arcadia goes belly up and prices of existing toys skyrocket to insane prices so that it requires big care not to ruin it? What if the manual burns in a fire or nobody remembers where they left it? (girlfriend threw it out in the garbage bin?) It's all worth archiving. I may sound paranoid now, but look how hard it is just to get bandai mac f toys without living in japan. They deliberately make it hard for us to get it. So if you get it 2nd hand and the guy who owned it previously didn't keep the manual or box, you only have vids to go by. Edited April 2, 2014 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote

1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) I will try to update the first post to make an index as often as I can. There are only so many toys ever made where people want videos of. If it gets too much I just hand the control of the first post for a mod or regular member to edit. There may be more than one. I encourage people to download this to hdd in case the authors ever take it down for whatever reason in future. In firefox browser for instance I download youtube vids using the Download Helper plug-in. I'm going to sleep now so don't expect index to be current to the second new things appear. Gakken85 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Yamato VF 1 V2 Transformation. Virgin Road is the subject. It's the highest quality one I know of... though I think Jenius did another one? Not sure. Edited April 3, 2014 by Gakken85 Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 If you feel you can cut and edit and do an even better job than what is around out there by all means do it and then link it here in the thread. For example you might have done a review of a toy but then decided to seperate the review from the actual transformation portion. You could cut out the review part and make a video remix which only has the TF instructions only so people get an even quicker reference vid. In 10 years from now some guy might have bandai mac f toy ( he bought cheap off ebay perhaps it gets so hard to find them anymore when newer shows are popular) and needs some good vids to look at to help him change modes. Quote
VF5SS Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 yo dawg, i linked the whole CollectionDX Macross play list so feel free to take one good video down for each toy. I covered at least one of each type. Quote

Scyla Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Some of the older CollectionDX transformation videos where done by JoshB (mainly the Macross Plus reviews) and Atom (the older VF-1 reviews and the SV-51 Nora one). I don't know if you want to add this information into the links. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Thanks for pointing it out. I don't know the real name of them all. Do they post on MWB? Tell me which of the existing ones are mis-creditied and I will change them. I will try to add different authors TF vids too in case some people want to see more than one guy's work. I will put in bandai stuff next since I think this and yamato valks are the most popular toys. Then I will work my way down to other toys. (ie bandai hi metal, toynami lol etc) Arcadia will get some index love when vids of yf-19 (version 2) are ready. It's a pretty complex looking toy but if you know the vf-19 it shouldn't be a problem. Any good VB-6 Monster TF vids? Edit: Oh yeah I noticed there are different people from CDX doing the reviews. So the guy who says Batter-roid is VF5SS. And the guy who sounds sleepy which ones is that? Atom? edit 2: ok sleepy sounding guy is Atom. So anything not sleepy and not the batter-oid guy must be Josh Edited April 4, 2014 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote
close313 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 JoshB's review style has some slight sarcasm/comedy in it. I enjoy his reviews. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Ok I changed a few things in the yamato vids so it credits the proper guy. Sleepy guy = Atom Batter-roid guy = VF5SS Dude with the drink in his hand in the VF-22S Gamlin review = JoshB. Correct? I noticed the VB-6 Monster wasn't in the macross toys playlist. Getting sloppy! I thought you guys were fans. And where are you reviews of the Banpresto Valks??? I love those. When I get some free time I will add the bandai stuff next. Just be patient. Scyla Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Good work. jenius on the board is the guy behind anymoon.com and Scorched Earth Toys if you want to add him to the Video of the YF-29. He also did a transformation video for the Yamato SDF-1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdvWN71h7LU) and the Quarter from Macross Frontier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxjGLJWDF4Y) that are very good. Also if you are locking for transformation and dress-up videos of the V1 VF-25 toys peaugh did them way back when. If your try to offer some kind of Valkyrie Transformation Database I guess you have to have them (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4URnUSCMfQQ) I personally prefer different reviews for the same toy done by different people. It gives me a good idea what to expect when I buy stuff. So I think it is a good idea to include several sources for each Valkyrie if someone has information on the transformation that another reviewer missed. But this is your thread so keep up the good work. Edited April 4, 2014 by Scyla Quote
charger69 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Don't forget Graham's transformation videos  Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the help on who the authors are. will fix the anymoon credits in the morning. Kinda sleepy right now. Graham still posts here? What's his YT channel? I agree that the more tf vids by different authors the better. I got to be careful not to add reviews that don't actually show the transformation though. Some just skip that and only review the toy without the transformation demo. BTW it would be good if you guys took over. You see when I am not active on the boards and new stuff comes out I know the page will not be up to date as a result. So if I fall behind, I will copy and paste the first post to someone else to put into their own thread and you could create the new thread (and add all the extra entries onto what's already up there) if that happens. You don't have to use the same format. You know how it is with the internet. Information just keeps growing. I can barely keep up with all the news let alone new vids. While looking around I had trouble finding yamato vb-6 konig monster transformation videos. And I can't make a vid since I sold mine off. If you find one LMK. here is the code for all of what I have done so far if you want to create a thread like this and take over (I don't see it as "my thread", but really it's the fan community that should "own it".: -------------------- ARCADIA -------------------- -------------------- 1/60 -------------------- -------------------- BANDAI -------------------- -------------------- 1/60 -------------------- DX Chogokin VF-25F Alto by peaugh by Wizartar Fighter to GERWALK to Battroid by Wizartar Battroid to Fighter Armor pack attachment by peaugh DX Chogokin VF-25G Mikail by peaugh Super pack attachment by peaugh DX Chogokin VF-25F Alto Renewal by peaugh DX Chogokin VF-25S Armored Valkyrie by VF5SS (Collection DX Review) by peaugh by peaugh guide to attaching Armor pack DX Chogokin VF-25S Renewal Ozma Lee by VF5SS Collection DX Review with Super Pack attached by ?? You can take the first post of that new thread while this old one gets deleted to avoid duplicate threads. Then, when you get too busy or no longer active here, pass it on to the next guy who volunteers to keep it up to date when new products appear so that it gets bigger and grows. Of course there are only so many toys to cover right now, but by the time the new macross tv series starts there will be more transformation demos to collect. Loop Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Are any of the official Yamato videos still up that Mr.K did for them while they were active? I liked how he would slowly show you the complexity and flow for each mechanism. The only downside was the "Laughing" man and that it was pretty slow, but you could always FF or Rewind. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) I'm relying on you guys to help me find it all. Where do you get graham's trasformation videos? I am thinking of putting these up too. I still got to add all the other smaller scale toys like himetal and things like chunky munky and toynami stuff. (they released decent 1/100 vf-1 toys with the skinny thighs I remember) I thik the more expensive stuff should go first though because the whole purpose is to provide a quick reference for complex toys that you know you are too scared to transform because you might wreck it or do something in the wrong order. Small stuff is cheaper and you tend to take risks figuring it out yourself so you won't need a quick reference as much compared to the bigger stuff. Edited April 8, 2014 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote

derex3592 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) There's one guy's YF-21 video that is FAST and accurate that I use when I do my 21/22's. I like his because it's straightforward and to the point. I'll see if I can find it. All of Jenius' and Collection DX are great for full reviews of Yamato stuff. -- Fighter to Battroid -- Battroid to Fighter Edited April 11, 2014 by derex3592 Quote
