Just getting through the first season of Dark. A German series (2017)

Creepy music, atmospheric build. Fleshed out characters. Non spoiler context: past, present & future happens simultaneously. If U want a break from Hollywood schtick... check it out.Screenshot_20231130_133944.png.73cfeb1c30002470a29fcd6c88663ef9.png

Dark had great world building and character arcs, but the concept got very bloated in the later episodes. There are some graphics avaible if you really want to untie the knot of the timelines. It still comes to a satisfying solution IMO, unlike the recent time loop based "Bodies" on Netflix.

I’m tired of the usual time and multiverse stuff, so I’ll probably skip it unless I hear it’s really great, but so far it sounds like just another of the same gimmicks

Just finished season 1.

So far pretty good!!

I hope a satisfying end is the same conclusion I come to.

U have a point. I just happy to have a break from Hollywood. Really enjoying a lot of foreign films and TV series.

Few DECADES late but I started watching The Sopranos a couple of nights ago. Wife declined to watch with me. Loving it so far!

I remember the first time watching it and we had the weird reaction of”Look, it’s the guy from Fist of the Northstar!!!”.

that show ended up getting so popular that I’m pretty sure it ends up the other way around when people accidentally find Fist of the Northstar

My favs in no particular order of action/sci-fi/drama are LOST, (well the 1st 3 seasons anyway) / New BSG / Breaking Bad and of course ST TNG / DS-9.  I'm curious to see if Sopranos makes the list!

My family and my ex-gf's family (very Italian) at the time used to make a Sunday night of it by having dinner then watching the newest episode of The Sopranos.

I will say that the 1/1 Scale B-17's they built (2 of them) look very convincing for all of the ground crew/maintenance scenes, I'm still iffy about the CGI, it looks a bit off to me but in 11 days we'll find out if this series was worth the wait, it's pushing 14 years since THE PACIFIC released.

My lady loves the walking dead. She’s waiting for all the shows to finish and then add the amc subscription to binge them all. I’m personally not into them and she watches them while I’m asleep. It’s really weird to be woken up by constant zombie moans.

We watched this show a couple weeks ago. It definitely has its moments, but it felt a little like certain story and character elements could’ve used some work. Overall, it’s not bad and I’ve been craving churros ever since

Two episodes in on MASTERS OF THE AIR, for whatever reasons I was having little faith if this series was going to be any good, something about the trailers just didn't feel right, especially the CGI... well, I love being wrong sometimes.

So far, I am really enjoying this, everything looks and feels authentic, the scenes with the crews eating their breakfast, ground/mechanic crews, the pilots getting their flights suits on, it's all very well laid out and filmed. There is some narration in the show and works perfectly IMO.

A couple of guys I keep in touch with who are a part of the CAF (Commemorative Air Force) said they helped out with their B-17 (I think she's called Sentimental Journey) for all of the engine & inflight sound effects, if you've ever seen a real B-17 up close and heard those engines kick over, that's what you hear in this show (none of that weird off putting made up sound-effects you hear in some WWII movies, PEARL HARBOR is a grand example.)

The .50 Calibers & FLAK are deafening. The way they do the pre-flight is detailed, really nice touch.

There's a couple of scenes in that are both based on real events and at least for me, feel like a nod to the film Memphis Belle.

So far for now, this is on my Blu-ray purchase list!

Is anyone here watching TRUE DETECTIVE Night Country?

If so, does anyone know what's actually going on? Honestly, I'm lost with this one, there's so far not a single character I remotely care about, there's a tie in with season 1 apparently, a young girl was murdered years before, possibly evil spirits are involved, and the writers decided that people only use the word F-ck to describe every moment in their lives.

So yeah, what's happening here or is this another, it all comes (sort of) together at the last moment kind of story?

Finally finished The Brothers Sun this weekend.  It’s silly fun with some good action.

Kinda smelled a key plot twist from a mile away.

But yeah, it was still pretty enjoyable.

And if you cause a man to burn his pastries, your ass is gonna catch a beatdown.
