For the talent involved, and the budget spent, this was the most boring, uninteresting, uninspired, by the numbers, made-by-committee, algorithm scripted blockbuster I've ever seen in my life. What an absolute waste of time, resources and talent, Netflix CAN NOT be banking on stuff like this to keep people subscribing, this was the most one and done film possibly ever. Robots looked kind of cool though, I guess. Cool, something to watch for tomorrow! In other news, The Wheel of Time Season 3 is up to ep 3 on Amazon. All three we released on the 13th. Really wish they would just stream it all in one-go, so I can binge it and be happy. Quote
TangledThorns Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I'll give it a shot if it has good reviews. Hadn't seen "Sawyer" in anything since LOST, lol. Quote

Mog Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Just finished Cold Harbor (Season 2 finale for Severance): Spoiler It’s therapeutic watching that punk Lumon thug get knocked down a number of pegs (and summarily ended) and seeing Gemma finally escape (hopefully). But like Innie Mark going back, the show can be hella frustrating at times. Hopefully, there are answers at the end, and this whole series finishes satisfyingly. Honestly, I had to be in the right mental state to watch each ep. The show has some very interesting ideas with its main concept. But it’s definitely a mind frak. Quote

505thAirborne Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Good show so far, only 4 episodes which is nice, it means it won't be dragged out over 12 seasons. LOL Quote

Mog Posted March 29 Posted March 29 So, Mythic Quest Season 4 finished up. Not sure how I feel about that last scene. Been teasing it for years now, but Spoiler almost every season has been about some tension/issue cropping up in Ian and Poppy's work relationship, coming to a head during the season, and then reaching a resolution by the end of the season. Guess they had to tweak the formula a little. Definitely thought the murder mystery ep was a high point. Enjoyed the poker ep too, because of how that particular story played out AND because it had Sabine Wren as Poppy's sister (two Asian-Australians using their natural accent?!). And as usual, they had the slightly oddball episode. Don't care much for the character they focused on, but the story was amusing and had a nice message in it. Quote
TangledThorns Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Watching the new season of The White Lotus and some of the plot line is really f'd up. Yeah, I know its HBO Max but wadafuq? Quote
TangledThorns Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) Ehhh, Rick & Morty's last season was pretty weak and struggled to get a laugh out of me. No surprise after their staff "shakeup" and should have ended there. Edited April 2 by TangledThorns Quote

No surprise after their staff "shakeup" and should have ended there. Oddly, I found that Solar Opposites turned out to be an improvement. They just came up with a giddy excuse for a voice change and it made it feel like two separate shows as intended. I also find that Solar Opposites doesn’t dwell on depressing humor the way Rick and Morty has been lately. Kinda like there’s a sense of joy to the show that’s been missing Quote
Thom Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I like their quirky episodes, but I hope the dramatic ones anchor it real well. At only 10 episodes, they better be good! And coming to Apple TV, from Guy Ritchie and starring John Krazinski and Natalie Portman... Fountain of Youth. Quote
Mog Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM Posted Saturday at 02:35 AM Damn it: https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/mythic-quest-canceled-apple-tv-plus-new-ending-1236366662/ It was a fun series that could surprise you with its silliness or kick you in the feels. Or sometimes both. Gonna miss where they could have taken the characters with another season. Quote
TangledThorns Posted Saturday at 12:49 PM Posted Saturday at 12:49 PM Finished the second/final season of 1923 starring Harrison Ford and its another win by Taylor Sherican! Great cast and Brandon Sklenar should have a heckuva future. Quote
505thAirborne Posted Saturday at 05:35 PM Posted Saturday at 05:35 PM Yellowjackets Season 3 finale... Now that is how you end a season and leaving the fans hanging on for the next one!! 1923 was awesome, hate to see it end but a damn good show all the way through. HBO's THE PITT, by far the best thing on right now, I highly recommend it. Quote

What an absolute waste of time, resources and talent, Netflix CAN NOT be banking on stuff like this to keep people subscribing, this was the most one and done film possibly ever. Robots looked kind of cool though, I guess. I thought it was a fun film, but not as good as I'd hoped it would be given the caliber of talent. CG bots were really well done, and I suspect that was ultimately the draw. I like Simon Stalenhag's work, and if you do too but crave something grittier, I'd suggest Tales from the Loop on Prime. I thought it was excellent, and a second season would have been most welcome, or another series done in the same vein. I was hoping Electric State would be closer to Tales, but it was a bit too tropish, rote, and played for humor, likely so it'd appeal to younger audiences. Been watching Pantheon on Netflix, based on three short stories by Ken Liu. Very well written and voiced (Aaron Eckhart and the late William Hurt play major roles). It's good sci-fi (for now) revolving around human minds being uploaded to a Cloud-like virtual space and the ramifications. There's far more to it than that, but that's the core of the story. well worth a watch. I'm just onS2 ep2, but I'm enjoying it immensely. Quote

Mog Posted Monday at 06:16 AM Posted Monday at 06:16 AM Unless you're a kid, does anyone really eat cheese only pizza? If it's the only slice left, I'll still reheat it with some pepperoni for my youngest, or I'll cut up some sausage links or patties to put some meat on the bloody thing. Quote

It is those people, some in every crowd, that insist on buying at least one everything pizza for a pizza party and not enough of the kind that everyone actually eats... Combination, supreme, super supreme- whatever they're calling their fully loaded pizza- yes. Just cheese is too bland and lacking texture and flavors that a combination of toppings bring to the experience. so off topic right now. Finished S2 of Pantheon today and it was both really well done and, thankfully, complete, unlike so many other shows that get axed before reaching a satisfying resolution. Highly recommended. Working our way through some older season eps of Black Mirror that we haven't seen yet before moving on to S7. Such a good series. One of the eps we watched today was called "Mazey Day". Spoiler It featured one of the best werewolf transformation scenes I've seen, clearly inspired by Rick Baker's work on American Werewolf In London. Quote
