Thom Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Silo Season 2 is playing on Apple+ Currently up to ep4 out of 10. So far, it has the same solid writing and acting as season 1 and I am enjoying it. Quote
electric indigo Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 While I would enjoy Rebecca Fergusson just reading a phonebook, I found the writing of Silo rather pedestrian, and the already thin plot felt stretched over the season. Is S2 any better so far? Quote

TangledThorns Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Great series. Looking forward to the next season. Quote

Big s Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Just finished the new season of Squid Game. Definitely doesn’t have the impact that the first had. I still found it likable with its absurdity and goofy characters, but it’s one of those that seems like it may have been better if it just ended with the first season Spoiler The show leaves off with a big cliffhanger and the games aren’t even over yet, so I’m not sure how the structure of the next season will be. It just says coming this year at the end Quote
TangledThorns Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Watching LANDMAN on Paramount+, really good Taylor Sheridan modern western series that keeps us hooked. Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter are great, especially Ali who has aged amazingly. Highly recommended. Quote
azrael Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Interesting read of the day: Cutting the cord again? Americans are spending less on streaming as fatigue and options grow (Techspot.com) Quote

Americans are spending less on streaming as fatigue and options grow (Techspot.com) It’s definitely a bit overwhelming and most seem unnecessary. I kinda liked it better back when there was only Netflix and Hulu and the early days of prime. It seemed like there was more options before all the extra channels Quote
Thom Posted January 4 Posted January 4 As usually happens, the market gets so saturated with everyone and their dozen cousins jumping on the streaming bandwagon that it becomes like wet tissue paper. Quote
Dynaman Posted January 5 Posted January 5 When there was one company at $10 a month it was a no-brainer. When the content is spread between multiple companies each at $15 a month or so (unless you want ads and nobody really wants ads) then it is time to get choosy again. Quote

TangledThorns Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) You can find streaming deals here and there. For example I have the MAX/Hulu/D+ bundle for $30/month however I read it doesn't support 4K. I also have a yearly subscription with Paramount+ for $60 year, I was able to get that price when I was in the midst of cancelling the service over a month ago. You may be able to find streaming promotions or cash back deals with your credit card too. I earn 6% cash back with my American Express Blue Cash Preferred for streaming services. AE also had a promotion for P+ (ad free) where I earned $13 cash back last month so in total it ended up coming to $44/year which is an amazing deal!! I currently don't have the other services as we don't watch that much TV because of time. Edited January 5 by TangledThorns Quote

I think streaming (satellite radio included) is hoping subscribers won't care or notice in their monthly billing or... are too lazy to put in the effort to pause/cancel a subscription. I cancelled my SiriusXM satellite radio subscription last year. Even though it was about $12/month it was still a waste of money as I work from home and never listened to it at home too. It's much how I felt about the excess streaming (Prime, Apple+, Netlfix and Crunchyroll) services I had till I picked what gave me the best value which was P+ and the MAX/Hulu/D+ bundle and cancelled the rest. We'll periodically sign up for certain streaming services to binge a series we really enjoy but will it be short for a month or two. New seasons of Squid Game or Stranger Things on Netflix is an example. Quote

If you’re not in a rush, I’d wait til the third season comes out later this year or whenever the last season of Stranger Things comes out. Either way, both shows are doing their last season this year and I guess you won’t need Netflix after that Quote
Mog Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Finally finished up Interior Chinatown last night. Definitely a silly and absurd reality-twisting show. The show meanders a crap-ton, but I’m not sure how I feel about the ending. Spoiler The absurd spoof of them being in a police procedural show and not being “seen” doesn’t always mesh with the themes of a family broken by an untimely death and being forced/pigeonholed into stereotypical roles. If I was to summarize it, the silliness and seriousness don’t blend well at times, especially towards the end. I guess Willis got to write his own ending to his story. But then he and Lana are now stuck in another tropey show. All this to say, there’s parts I really liked, but I’m not sure if they stuck the landing at the end. Quote
Thom Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Dang it! Just found out today that Shadow and Bone Season 3 was cancelled back in November. Really liked that one and was hoping to see more. Guess I won't be watching that show ever again. Quote
electric indigo Posted Saturday at 11:38 AM Posted Saturday at 11:38 AM I saw "It's what's inside" yesterday and found it awesome. Original in concept & execution, good acting, suspese & fun. Along with "X" and "Bodies Bodies Bodies" it's cool what current filmmakers still can do with well-worn settings. Quote
505thAirborne Posted Monday at 06:37 AM Posted Monday at 06:37 AM And just like that, it's now the waiting game for LANDMAN Season 2. I certainly hope it gets renewed. AMERICAN PRIMEVAL, so far this has been a really good series. Acting, cinematography, the sets, clothing and the Native American actors all make for some serious entertainment. I said to my dad the other night; this is what Kenvin Costner should have made with Horizon... he laughed. This show is directed by Peter Berg & the same writer from THE REVENANT. Quote

Just finished it earlier today. It’s definitely filmed well. Only six episodes though. Rather Brutal. Spoiler Six episodes and about six camps of people viciously massacred. Hundreds of people die on average in this show and it’s not even an official war. I do have to say that the main lady is the absolute worst mom ever and probably would’ve done her son the biggest favor by just leaving him behind in Philadelphia Quote

Thom Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I've gotten into watching a few Nerdforge vids on Youtube and would just like to share. In case anyone has not seen her yet, this is Martina from Norway who makes a great number of incredible builds on her channel. From creating a prosthetic to replace her missing pinky to rebinding legendary books, like the Stormlight series and the Hobbit, she is super entertaining and interesting, esp with her ideas. The first one I watched was her rebinding the entire Stormlight Archive series for Brandon Sanderson. And she and Hansi have been on Tested with Adam Savage. Just cool interviews and I just love they way they geek out together! Quote
