I thought In the Beginning was good too. That would be GKar. Londo started out as a bafoon, turned into a douchebag, and finally a hero. In the Beginning was the best of the B5 movies even though it was just a clip show to allow people who had not seen B5 to catch up on events. Legend of the Rangers was that series pilot trial balloon on SyFy, only character from the original show on it was GKar I believe. It featured a weapons targeting system that would give the operator a heart attack in 20 minutes (really, someone ought to do a motion study for ANY device in a scifi show before they put the thing on screen). It also featured special effects that made syfy's Airwolf episodes look decent.

Well it becomes hard to satirize something that satirizes itself. As meta as it seems, our world (at least the US) is pretty close to that of South Park. That or after over 20 yrs they may have just run out of ideas or just in a slump. Last season was pretty decent.

Dynaman
The season opener of The Expanse was on last night and I watched it just now - looks like another solid season coming up on the show. The books this is based on took a slight dip in quality after the items this season covers so I wonder how the show will do (only a slight dip, kinda like the author lost focus on what he wanted to do with the series). Lost in Space on Netflix tomorrow too. And the Krypton clips just after The Expanse made me want to try that show after all, hopefully the first episodes are still available on demand. Dynaman
Watched all of Lost in Space, while not perfect (far too many people wandering off alone or not telling everyone something important bits) it was well worth watching. Looking forward to the second season.

I never watched the classic series, and the 90s movie was, mostly forgettable to say the least. Anyone else watching The Terror on AMC? Honestly, it's probably the best TV I've watched in 2018, it is incredibly tense, real classic slow burn horror. I absolutely love it, fantastic cast, superb sets, props and costumes, and really excellent sound design. I really can't recommend it enough, I even signed up for AMC Premier or something like that so I didn't have to wait for more episodes every Monday and I binged the whole rest of the series on Sunday, once again, watch this show, it is quite brilliant. 505thAirborne
I'm only 2 episodes in with Lost In Space but I am enjoying it so far. As for The Terror on AMC, it is a top notch show. Just like Master & Commander this series has focused on keeping the ships, uniforms, language/mannerisms & food accurate to that time period. While part of the story is fictional for the show the HMS Terror & HMS Erebus were real and their crews all met their fates at the hands of the elements, tainted food, illness and starvation. It's a unique blending of history & horror.

Like I said the only reason I was able to blast through the whole series is because the whole series is up on AMC Premiere, but you can only sign up with that if you have a cable subscription. I'd guess it will pop up on Netflix like most AMC stuff does eventually, but I also believe episode 5 just aired this Monday and there are 10 episodes in the series, so it will still be some time before it wraps up and pops up on Netflix. 12 hours ago, 505thAirborne said: As for The Terror on AMC, it is a top notch show. I actually ordered the novel off Amazon because I loved the series so much, and I've heard good things about the novel as well, and that the TV adaptation is really well done and very close to the source. Also, after finishing up the series I was on Google for about four hours reading about the real Terror and Erebus crews, pretty terrifying stuff in real life even without a fictional monster thrown in to the mix. That's why I need to get my hands on the novel, this property in particular really seemed to nail a perfect blend of fact and fiction, all centered around this horrifying setting and story. I am SOOOO glad I didn't end up passing on this series like I initially thought I would, I figured I'd check it out eventually, which I would have, but it's really good and I'll still continue saying it's probably the best TV of 2018 so far. 505thAirborne
As I'm watching AMC's The Terror right now it's harder to know which is more terrifying, being stranded in the middle of Baffin Bay, food that is in spoiled tins (causing lead poisoning & botulism), a Monster hunting you down or a Commanding officer making decisions that range from bad to arrogantly foolish. This season looks frakking hilarious, I can't wait. Season 4 was, rough to say the least, but has anyone else watched the remixed season 4? I can safely say it is VASTLY superior to the original season 4, the original season 4 was a drag, episodes were too long, too focused on one character due to how they had to film the thing, it wasn't very funny and I found it really hard to get through a whole episode in one sitting, these characters play best when bounced off each other, most of them can't drive whole, long episodes themselves. The remixed season is much, much better, it's the same footage yes, but it's all been edited together so everything jumps from character to character like earlier seasons, plus shorter 22 minute episodes, and tons of new dialogue and narration by Opie Taylor, I mean Ron Howard... I'd highly recommend remixed season 4 now, the original was banished to the trailer section on Netflix because how inferior it is. I actually binged the whole new season 4 this weekend with ease, one episode after another. With the original season 4 I found myself taking multiple weeks to get through certain episodes. I'd take the monster personally, most immediate, less frakkery. The creature will just maul you alive, but every other way is far more drug out, and would seem far more horrifying. Dynaman
SyFy's "The Expanse" has been cancelled. Considering the license agreement I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I can't imagine not having streaming rights these days.

I think SyFy has cancelled almost every show I've watched in recent years: Alphas, Dark Matter, Defiant, and now this. With luck, it will find another port of call. At the very least, I hope season 3 doesn't end like Alphas.

The Terror is a fabulous adaptation of the Dan Simmons novel. Just absolutely top notch. I'm sad that it doesn't seem to be getting the love it should. Regarding Lost in Space, I'm pretty surprised about how watchable it is. It helps that the young actors are pretty good. And those Macross similarities! Dynaman
That was quick! Looks like The Expanse has been saved. http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/the-expanse-officially-picked-up-at-amazon-for-season-4 Also want to say that this week's episode was excellent. mechaninac
Agreed. That was an epic sudden deceleration from extreme velocity visual. Spoiler One minute the cocky schmuck is all gung-ho about accomplishing his stunt, and the next... a gory mess akin to a bug on a windshield. The treatment of real-world physics on this show, although not 100% perfect, is very meticulous and authentic so that it really gives it an air of plausibility and realism. I'm so glad this show seems to have been spared, at least for a bit longer.
505thAirborne
Started watching OZARK on Netflix this week, It's a rather dark story so far that's reminds you whenever you think your life is a dumpster fire it could always be worse. renegadeleader1
G.L.O.W. season 2 is coming in about a week so I did a bit of a refresher of the first season. The show still holds up well, and I'm still amazed by how well the Ruth/Zoya character is portrayed. At best she is an idiot who seems to be completely oblivious to her actions and how they affect others or at worst she's a horrible self centered b!tch that continues to make the worst possible decisions over and over that she immediately regrets with the exception of when it comes to the wrestling. And yet we still feel for her and hope for the best even if those feelings do get strained by the end of the series. Then you have the Liberty Belle character. She comes off as cold and b****y for most of the series, but I really don't blame her. She stopped a successful acting career to have her baby, her husband is a scumbag, and her best friend sleeps with him behind her back... Twice. But she still manages to find a way to take back her life and reconcile with everything, including her scumbag hubbie who she utterly puts in his place by the final episode. I'm interested to see where season 2 goes with everything.

Wolf-1
Caught an encore presentation of Yellowstone's premiere; the new K. Costner show on Paramount Network or what was Spike. Went into the show expecting a 1 hr premiere; its 2 hrs and well worth it to set all the pieces into their opening moves. Massive Cattle Ranch dealing with everyday life, encroaching civilization, and of course a Reservation and Casino; this is before we get into internal struggles on the Ranch or Reservation. Well worth checking out!
