CrazyDude Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Hi All. Come up to the lab and see what's on the Slab, I can see you shiver with ..... ..... .... Antici..pation. In this thread I will be posting my WIP's. I model slightly different and tend to work from 5 to 15 kits at a time. I assemble them after that I rent a model studio where I do the painting and airbrushing en masse. Got a bit burned out on macross kits so the current batch only has 2 macros kits in it. Finishing the last 3 kits before next painting run. More to come soon. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 8, 2014 Author Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Break in the wedding now can post what I forgot yesterday. First EVA-01 Frame, I don't like the designs from the new movies. Kit(set of 3) for when I get back tomorrow. All my kits end up with bases(picture frames, etc) and fixed posed mostly due to the frequency of quakes here. 3/11 took quiet a toll on my display shelf including resin kits that can't be replaced. After that it is still RG Strike and 1/72 Dougram, and prepping the 1/72 VF-1A Strike. Edited March 8, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
Jefuemon Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 First EVA-01 Frame, I don't like the designs from the new movies. Built one of those many years ago. Gave the launch frame to Asuka, though. Quote
MechTech Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 That EVA-01 kit is nice, I have one myself. - MT Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Back home, I sooo hate Japanese weddings. Here are 2 quick pics, getting back at the models after lunch. Gundam Build Fighter Fenice nice because it is asymmetric. Trio of Legioss, Gryphon and Dougram. Quote
EXO Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 That's the new Wave Legioss? What scale is it again? 1/72? Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Yes, it is 1/72. Typical wave quality. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Yahoo, time if the poor pics is over. Was a bit of a struggle but got my new SD-Card Reader to work on my Nexus 7, so I can use my rerepaired camera now. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 Valkyrie I am working on, will get an eggplane duplicate. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 9, 2014 Author Posted March 9, 2014 The Boys are back in Town. Yes, that is a RG Strike head there. Still paint and detail missing, converting sticker sheets to waterslide decals. Next step is to get them boys their wheels. Figures are around 1/12 scale, don't have my Stick figure/bike handy to confirm. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Awesome, thanks for sharing. I love WIPs Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) The boys found their wheels. Thy come with dayglo stickers those areas will be painted instead. These kits and all other in these batch will have some milder in details replaced with made parts, more on that later. Lonely Chasers. Double Chaser. Feel free to ask for pics of any item. I often stray a bit from the instruction and also add/remove details. Now to finish the RG Freedom Gundam and prep the resin 1/48 Scopedog B. Edited March 10, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) Finalised and ordered the next batch of kits and stuff I need to finish the current one. Total of 8 macross kits in it, mostly smaller items. Lots of 1/100 and SD items. After this batch no kit buying for 2-3 month as I need to replace my double suspension mountain bike, helmet and gloves. Edited March 10, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 RG strike Freedom Gundam. Group shot. Mo-Craft 1/48 VOTOMS Scopedog B. I like those little resin kits, pity you can hardly find them now as they had some rare variants. Starting to clean the parts, another shot before I start drilling the holes for the pins. One reason why I like kits is because they are much cheaper than the toys. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Clean up of the Votoms kit has started. Still waiting for the Votoms colour to finish 2 Scopedogs and a Rapidly Dog. For this step of the build I am using 3M sanding foam pads, Hasegawa jewel/needle files, Wave sanding sticks(great stuff) and a Tamiya pin-vise with a 1mm drill bit. I really like resin as a medium. CrazyDude Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) Got a quick Macros kit question. How big is the 1/8000 Macross Fortress kit when finished? https://secure.hlj.com/product/BAN953442 Edited March 13, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Doing some lengthy modification/improvement around the ankles of the Scopedog, so no updates right now. Votoms colours also have not yet arrived. Started 1 of 4 1/250 gundam dios, also got a 1/144 one planned(One Year War)? Plans on the 1/8000 Macross SDF-1 Dio are also being finalised. Quote
modelglue Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Love it. Haha. You've got a ton of energy to put towards your hobby. It will be neat to see all these together. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) Being on medical disability gives me spare-time and a chance to work up some of the ideas I got. Lot of the kits I do are older kits like the 1/250 Gundam Dio's which cost me a few hundred yen each or bought at sales via HLJ, etc. Edited March 17, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Ordered this today: http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN959022 And the 3 Mecha College Yamato items. Quote

CrazyDude Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Competition is moving along nicely, I am learning a LOT. Bit tough as we don't use a ranking system, so your opponent can be less or more experienced no weight classes either. Looking forward to next week, tomorrow I will put together an order from my PW going to keep it under 28500Yen for everything. Order will arrive on the 2nd, COD payment. Item photos will be split as follows Votoms, Macross, Gundam, Idol Master, Scale Models and Materials. Edited March 28, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Placed my order from the PW, actually 2 forgot to add 3 items on the 1st one. Bout $290 but that is still at current tax-rate. PW now dropped to 15 items from 48. First Builds will be D-Style Patlabor kits after that hopefully onto SDF-1 in Lake. Edited March 28, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Back from China, decided to skip the Shaolin Trip and come back a day early. Found a few old Macross kits during trip. Thee old combining hangar kits and the 4 diorama kits(tile with 1 Valkyrie and a few ground vehicles), both those sets can be combined to make a larger display. In the afternoon I am back at the workbench, working on a 1/250 Gundam Dio kit. Edited March 30, 2014 by CrazyDude Quote
