Wiz13688
I remember reading that others have had problem using decal softener with Bandai water decals on their VF-25s. I just build a 1/72 Cosmo Falcon from Yamato 2199 and I'm having problem with the large decals on the wing and tail conforming well. I used Mr. Hobby Mark Softer but it didn't seem to work very well as i don't see the "wrinkle" effect at all. Does anyone remember what work well with them as I'm in the process of building another one and I want to get the decals to work better on this one. This is my initial result after repeat application of Mark Softer.
anime52k8
I've found Walthers Solvaset works on bandai decals pretty well: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/904-
CrazyDude
Never had a problem with the gunze one, been using it for 30+yes.
David Hingtgen
Walthers Solvaset is notably stronger than most. Champ's is the strongest, but no longer made.
Wiz13688
OK. Thanks guys. Local hobby shop have plenty of Mark Softer in stock so I'll pick up another bottle. I'll also check and see if they have Walther's Solvaset at the time.
MechTech
I have an old bottle of Solvaset and it's easily the strongest I've used over Testors or Mr. Mark Softer. For "good" decals it may need to be thinned with water a bit. - MT
anime52k8
Walthers is ridiculously strong. like, eat into the paint layer if you put to much on a surface strong. in my experience Bandai decals react to it the way most decals react to microsol. Wiz13688
OK. I'll hold off on the Walthers until I try a new bottle of mark Softer. Thanks.
MechTech
What I've had to do with stubborn decals is coat the bottom and then keep coating the top. SOMETIMES that seems to help. I hope the new bottle works out for you! - MT
