skullmilitia Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Surprised no one posted these yet. http://www.figures.com/forums/news/49092-tf14-toynami-robotech.html Vinyl SD figures don't look too bad.. Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 i'd buy an SD "rick" or roy, maybe even the valk. definitly woudl go for a minmay or bridge crew SD if they did those too Quote
anime52k8 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Who's sculpt are the ripping off with that SD figure? Quote
aaajin Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Who's sculpt are the ripping off with that SD figure? the sculpt looks Ben10-ish (rick) BTW, I thought they have long ditched the 1/100 line (since Maiden Japan departure from Toynami) Man I wished they had at least released the glaug, GBP-armor and the VE-1, VT-1, VF-1D that they showed before kicking the 1/100 variants bucket. At least the GBP armor, because they look pretty good and can be used on the current VF-1 lines. Quote
Knight26 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I might consider the 1/100, for the boys can't remember if the reviews were crap or not. I just wish the plushes would come out sooner, then I would get one or two for the little guy. Quote
Hoptimus Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 The 1/100 are pretty neat but they get floppy quick and the parts just fall off. Best in Battroid mode. Quote
Duymon Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 The 1/100 are pretty neat but they get floppy quick and the parts just fall off. Best in Battroid mode. If you want 1/100 spend twice as much on a VF hi-metal. Those were freaking awesome. Quote
Hikuro Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I thought those plushies were scrapped? I remember last year i heard something happened and TOYNAMI decided not to release those. Quote
danth Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Wake me up if they re-release the MPC Cyclone. Quote
DuffCon Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Anyone have more info if they're really being released? Quote
SuperSenpai Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Anyone have more info if they're really being released? Beagle, the company that made the original toys, is defunct. Unless Toynami managed to get ahold of the molds, no chance of a re-release. Quote
DuffCon Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Beagle, the company that made the original toys, is defunct. Unless Toynami managed to get ahold of the molds, no chance of a re-release. Odd that several sites are doing presales: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOY10612&mode=retail Quote
SuperSenpai Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Odd that several sites are doing presales: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOY10612&mode=retail Sorry, I was referring to the MPC Cyclone, which was originally made by Beagle and licensed and re-branded by Toynami as a Robotech product. I think the post before yours was asking about Cylone re-releases, and I thought that was what you were referring to. Quote
jenius Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 So is Toynami going to be selling a Robotech item at SDCC? Quote
CoreyD Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Well, now it's 2015, but has anyone seen this from the toynami booth at sdcc? Are those 1/18 Sdfm figures?! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D_Eua96pRKg/VZ4axyswXPI/AAAAAAAAAyw/JDri-CJ6dr4/s280/IMG-20150708-WA0064.jpeg Quote

Keith Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 But they look like shitty Yune inspired face sculps. Quote
EXO Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I'm going to look to see if I can at least use the bodies. The women look a bit big on the shoulders but yeah... the heads are not doable at all. I'm more worried about the plastic. So if it's straight from Toynami, I wouldn't even consider it. If it's a third party then I'd have to look into that also. Quote
myk Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Any closeups of the faces or was the public blocked from getting that close? Quote
EXO Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 It was difficult getting close because the figures were small and they were so far from the glass. Overall the face sculpts weren't as bad as I thought but still doesn't look like the characters. The bodies are bad sculpts and that was all I was interested in. And also bad lighting. They seem that they are manufactured by Toynami and not a third party so it's going to be a no sell to me. I just refuse to buy toys with expiration dates. Quote
Keith Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I haven't seen leg joints that bad since the original figure line. Hell, I wouldn't doubt rubber band joints. Quote
myk Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 LOL what was the design influence for the joints, Stikfas?! LOL what a joke, and those faces might as well be from the cast of LOST or V for Vendetta they're so off! Quote
JB0 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 LOL what was the design influence for the joints, Stikfas?! LOL what a joke, and those faces might as well be from the cast of LOST or V for Vendetta they're so off!I think you're being unfairly hard on them. They're a quite faithful homage to the original action figures. ... Figures, it must be noted, that were pretty crappy. Quote
myk Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Well said. Although I admit to owning the Matchbox Dolza figure so I'm hardly innocent... Quote
JB0 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Well said. Although I admit to owning the Matchbox Dolza figure so I'm hardly innocent...I may still have Max and Zor laying around somewhere. MOST of my Robotech stuff wound up in the trash by parental decree. Even my Rick Hunter and a veritech with the cockpit for him to fly in! Quote
CoreyD Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 In all likelihood, none of them will ever see the light of day anyhow. Quote
EXO Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I was staring at the pictures after I posted it and I just realized that the helmets had faces sculpted in. I thought they were empty and could be placed on the heads and that explained Hikaru's hair sculpt being flatter and closer to the skull. But now it really doesn't make sense. With all the other figures that have come out over the years especially with their own Popbox figures, how are they still thinking they can get away with a Hikaru that's way off? Minmay is also an amazon seeing how she stands head to head with the male pilots. Sad since I've been interested in Macross figures for a while now. Quote
technoblue Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Of the face sculpts, Minmay and Roy are passable. The rest of them just look strange. Is that really how HG is trying to tweak the look for Robotech? Edited July 10, 2015 by technoblue Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 minmay is out of scale but probably the 2nd best sculpt after roy. i guess you could say she is wearing heels? still though. even though i'd get these i wish we could have better. Quote
myk Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 In all likelihood, none of them will ever see the light of day anyhow. We can only hope! Quote
Dynaman Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Don't know if Misa fans should be insulted, or rejoicing... Quote
505thAirborne Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I haven't seen leg joints that bad since the original figure line. Hell, I wouldn't doubt rubber band joints. I'd be disappointed if they weren't rubber band joints. Seriously HG, make the damn Shadow Beta and we'll talk about you getting my $$$. Quote
EXO Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Went to get CoreyD's acid rain stuff and passing by with a friend... He noticed that Rick had Roy's hair and vica versa. He was 100% correct. That's kinda hilarious. Quote
