Dax415 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Want to know other places to buy model kits besides hobbylinkjapan. Especially if they tend to have old stock laying around. Figured I'd ask you guys and avoid buying from some place overpriced or with bad service. Thanks for the suggestions. Quote
brannon Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 banzaihobby.com not sure what kits your looking for but they are the best site ive ever delt with Quote
David Hingtgen Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Starshipmodeler often has a few hidden gems. I got my Hase YF-19 there. http://www.starshipmodeler.biz/shop/index.cfm Gundamstoreandmore.com Imageanime.com Quote
chyll2 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 i was able to buy VF-0D from hobbysearch (1999.co.jp) last week. I notice as well, that they got some stocks that are usually sold out to hlj and amiami like vf 11. Quote
HWR MKII Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Amazon.com has alot of macross kits listed. Bandai and hasegawa and good prices. I trust Amazon more than ebay to be able to get my goods these days as well. Edited January 27, 2014 by HWR MKII Quote
close313 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) What kind of models are you looking for? I think mandarake has a good listing of sci fi/anime models for low prices like gundam or macross etc. If you're looking for military models, other than those stated already, maybe you can try luckymodels.com (i think thats the website name) Just to add to this thread, does anyone know where i can get cheap moebius Battlestar galactica kits? (Cylon raider and cylon centurion are out of stock at starshipmodeller ) Edited January 28, 2014 by close313 Quote
CrazyDude Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Forget Moebius from any Japanese source, Platz their local distributor way overcharges for them. SSM seems to be a good source but charges normal prices. Quote
electric indigo Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Forget Moebius from any Japanese source, Platz their local distributor way overcharges for them. Since US overseas shipping costs have exploded, it may be cheaper for non-US residents to buy Moebius and R2 kits from japanese dealers. Quote

Dax415 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions guys....there was another Japanese shop I used to buy from, but its been so long I forgot the name of the place. They had a few airsoft items like hlj used to have as well. Maybe you guys know of another good Japanese online store? Would be nice to find the one I used to use. Quote
CrazyDude Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Rainbow 10 by any chance? They closed their online shop? Quote
ahiachris Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Yes and no, unfortunately they closed their international online shop due to they are unable to communicate in english. From I the time I started buying from them years ago they already said that they have to specially hire people to handle the international orders. Quote
Dax415 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Now that you guys mention it....rainbow 10 sounds like them. The website didn't have a cart system...you could browse through it then manually type in your order then send it off to them. Quote
MechTech Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) Don't forget: https://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/kits/ They have some rare kits there often (check the Japanese Anime section). - MT Edited March 17, 2014 by MechTech Quote

MechTech Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 That's what happens when you mix hallucinagenic drugs and plastic Looks like the Japanese version of H.R. Puffinstuff! - MT Quote
Nekko Basara Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I never realized that "AXE GIANT: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan" was a remake, but clearly Japan got their first. And I'l second the Amazon Marketplace suggestion. I've been surprised at stuff I've seen on there, usually cheaper and more reliable than ebay. It doesn't hurt to look, anyways. Quote
