3D-Brainx Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Hello Guys! So I might have the chance to get one of this, but only one. The question is, which one would you get? Its a VF-1D 30th anniversary vs. a VT-1 SO V2. Both new, never opened. Quote
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 vt-1 v.2 is worth 350 vf-1d 30th is worth 250 Quote
3D-Brainx Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Let's imagine in this case that money is not an issue. If you had the money to get only one of them, which one would you choose? Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 You may want to factor in the fact that the VT-1 had issues with cracked shoulder hinges like the earlier releases of the VF-1 v2. Quote
dapro Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I will go with the vf-1d since its iconic figure. I am still looking for one myself. Quote
Jasonc Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I have both, but I'd go with the VT-1 Ostrich. Every time I see it, in the box or out, the song "Sunset Beach" rings in my ear. That, and it just looks so awesome with all it's orange Fast packs and bright colored training goodness, it's hard to resist. It just looks so different from all the rest, if you want your collection to stand out, I'd go with that. Quote
jvmacross Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 I prefer the TV variants....so VF-1D..... The VT-1 will most likely get a re-issue this year...and it will be problem-free....the VF-1D will surely get re-issued as well, but probably not this year since it was just reissued... Even if you find a VT-1 at retail price...why spend the money on an item that is more than likely going to have cracked shoulders or soon develop them even if never taken out of the box? I say get the VF-1D 30th if at a good price (150-250 USD)....then wait for the VT-1 reissue Quote

I just love the Fast packs on this bird. Makes it really unique. Quote
barurutor Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 IMHO vt1+shapeways shoulders FTW. VF-1Ds are easier to find. Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 which are you more attached to? i say get the vf-1d, wait for a vt-1 reissue. the vf-1d 30th anny set is as good as that vf-1d will get. a vt-1 if reissued will have better shoulders. IMHO vt1+shapeways shoulders FTW. VF-1Ds are easier to find. then you'd have to paint the shapeways parts to match...this isn't a white or offwhite valk so the shapeways ones won't even sort of look right without matching paint. Raptor One Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) In terms of design and impact: VT-1 hands down. But the VT-1 is a risky purchase and if you're on the fence, meaning you like each design about the same, I'd say go VF-1D for peace of mind. That said, I just bought a used VT-1 and don't regret it one bit. Love that design. Edit: As was mentioned above, you also have the option to get replacement shoulders from shapeways, if you do end up with a cracked shoulder VT-1 Edited January 24, 2014 by Raptor One Quote
xrentonx Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 (edited) Pffff...VT-1 easy! There are shoulder fixes available! Edit: assuming money being no object and you need it NOW and you don't mind not color matching the inner shoulders. Doesn't bother me because I just use my imagination that inner support structures can be a different color...like delicious black! Edited January 24, 2014 by xrentonx Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 VF-1D, you can get it a fair price. VT-1 with most likely a bad shoulder for no less than 300, no thank you. Quote
valkfighter Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 in my case i cant tell you which one to get because the two seater valks are my favorite and i have both of them. if i had to sell my collection i would never get rid of my 1d and vt-1. in your case what do you like the most? the tv show or the movie? maybe the answer to that question would help you decide. skullmilitia Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I'd wait, at least until after WF before pulling the plug. Quote
s001 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Man! That's a tough one. Both are beautiful. I'm in a similar situation right now. I got money to buy just one vf-25 renewal and can't decide between the 25f and the 25a. It's driving me crazy!!! Quote
3D-Brainx Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 Hy Guys! Thanks for the imput. I wasn't aware that the v2 VT-1 had exploding shoulders and I'm aware that the VF-1D 30th anniversary is as good as the VF-1 mold would ever get. But I'm taking skullmilitias advice and I'm waiting at least until WF and see what Arcadia has to show there. Thanks again Guys! Quote
Gakken85 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I'm not dying to get an ostrich. I'd like to see Arcadia update it, but that could be a few years away or never. I don't think it's worth the money people are paying, though I understand the desire to collect rare valks. I paid $200 and something for the Elint, and I feel it's probably a better piece than the Ostrich. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 *sigh of relieve* wallet *sigh* Quote
jvmacross Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Surely either Bandai or Arcadia will capitalize on the 30th anniversary of the Summer of Macross..... Quote
Scyla Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Chunky Monkey reissue? Edited January 28, 2014 by Scyla Quote
amptor Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 VT-1 no question. I like the VF-1D although the colors aren't very striking on it but I like the VT-1 better. VT-1 and VE-1 are really nice kits. Quote
VALKYRIE ACE PILOT Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Hi there Guys !!! I see some of you say it´s easier to get a VF-1D valk ¿Yamato? nowadays. I'd like to know if you have an example of availability and good price since I´ve been looking for a Yamato one !! PD: I´m a new guy on the MW block, I´m happy to know there is a site to chat many other Macross addicts. Thank you !!! Quote
BlueSkull Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 D if you display in Battroid, T if you display in fighter/gerwalk. They're both nice, but i don't personally feel any urgency to get a T. Quote
spanner Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I've had both but recently let my VT-1 go but even regardless of cost I'd take the VF-1D any day of the week. I'll only replace the VT-1 if Arcadia release an updated version in the future.. Quote

valkfighter Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) that kit is nice for replacement parts if you already have a regular 1d. if i had the chance i would buy one. extra shoulders are always welcomed even if the 1d is safe Edited January 31, 2014 by valkfighter Quote
