Falcon18 Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 That sure is some impressive leg articulation right there! I've had girlfriends who couldn't manage that range of spread! hah. That was soooo coming.. But yeah. This thing can really spread. Quote
wm cheng Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Great box art, BUT even that great shot has the neck gap - I have yet to see a single photo of this without the neck gap (if the neck is shown) - this doesn't bode well. Quote

skullmilitia Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Nice box! - Thats what he said sounds like the wings were going to connect to the rear plate, but the end result of 3D model to physical model didn't translate out. So, it sounds like they are abandoning the rear wing root locks... yet MrK will try and see if there is a fix before the deadline. Quote
wm cheng Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 This pic doesn't have the neck gap. I stand corrected, well that's better. However, my old VF-0 didn't have the droopy neck when it was sitting on the landing gears too, the front gears pushed up the forward fuselage to close up the gap. But as soon as you pick it up, it was there! Quote

jvmacross Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 The box design, if that is the final design, looks way better than anything they have done in the past....I guess if they cannot afford to pay Tenjin for an original illustration (or don't want to pass on the cost)...they may as well try their best to emulate it.... Quote
no3Ljm Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 That box art looks awesome! Wish the released YF-19 before has something to that effect. Thinking of the boxart of Hasegawa's 1/48 YF-19 effect. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Great box art! Nice hips articulation... but it will all be worthless if the ball jointed feet are a loose mess. Quote
Shukenzero Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 This is gonna deny wallets but mend hearts. Looks amazing. Quote
spanner Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 The box art does look cool I'll admit! The Yamato and Arcadia boxes have all looked quite average till now. But its a shame most of the boxes will be packed away out of sight once the Valks are taken out for display! Then again I wouldn't mind even if the box was a plain cardboard brown! As long as they get the Zero-D as perfect as they possibly can instead! Quote
close313 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I just realised how all of the fins and (vertical?) stabilizers make it look so coherent and awesome from the front shot in the box art. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I just realised how all of the fins and (vertical?) stabilizers make it look so coherent and awesome from the front shot in the box art. It mirrors the VF-4 in a way. All of its fins and wings have the same angles as each other, too. (this is actually quite stealthy in practice, though I'm pretty sure that wasn't in mind when Kawamori made the VF-4) Quote
spanner Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 what are these meant to be on the upper fuselage? conformal tanks or something? Not that I mind them being there or anything but im curious what the Zero would look like without them.. or if they were smaller.. Quote

spanner Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 ahhh I figured so.. they are very similar setup to the conformal tanks on the Advanced Super Hornet.. hmmm maybe Boeing - McDonnell Douglas copied the design idea! hehe! yeah I doubt it.. Quote
Kurisama Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 what are these meant to be on the upper fuselage? conformal tanks or something? Not that I mind them being there or anything but im curious what the Zero would look like without them.. or if they were smaller.. Yeah - and you can take them off the current zeros. Also, the VF-1s have them, although substantially smaller. Quote
spanner Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Yeah - and you can take them off the current zeros. Also, the VF-1s have them, although substantially smaller. I wonder if that'll be an option with the new Zero-D!? Quote
close313 Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 If they're still using the same type of mechanism, then it should be able to. But that'll leave holes exposed on the surface. Quote
aaajin Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 now that I think about it, I did saw VF-0D design some time during my childhood days... folded paper plane (folded tip of the wings) Quote
spanner Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 If they're still using the same type of mechanism, then it should be able to. David Hingtgen Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Really, they are homages to the F-14's glove stiffeners above all else. Very early F-14's had larger ones than you usually see. It's why the VF-1 (and VF-0) have them. Quote
Saburo Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The box art looks great! February can't get here soon enough. Quote
Gakken85 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 The box art looks great! February can't get here soon enough. Seconded. Quote

Jasonc Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Confirmed as my February birthday present. Yay, wallet thanks me. Quote

Not that I mind them being there or anything but im curious what the Zero would look like without them.. or if they were smaller.. Zero-D pic.jpg Here ya go, early F-14: (yes, the shadows are exaggerating their size, but it makes them easy to see) Quote
spanner Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Here ya go, early F-14: (yes, the shadows are exaggerating their size, but it makes them easy to see) ahhh yes! great photo! you can see where the inspiration for the VF-1 & VF-0 came from eh.. The F-14 is a beautiful bird! Shame they retired them.. although I think Iran still operates them.. Quote
Scream Man Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 i know this is herasy, but i always loved the Zeros over the VF-1's. Its like all the cool bits of the 1's with all the detail of modern Macross works. The 0D is gorgeous. Quote

Its like all the cool bits of the 1's with all the detail of modern Macross works. The 0D is gorgeous. I do see your point and I have to say that many aspects of the Zero, the "D" in particular make the it look like an evolution of the VF-1 to a point where it appears almost out of chronological order.. Yes the Zero-D is gorgeous! Edited December 9, 2014 by spanner76 Quote
abbadon Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I like the fighter mode of VF-0s, but I still prefer the battroid mode of the VF-1s. I love the Gerwalk on the 0D though! Quote
spanner Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I'd say the Zero-D wins fighter mode but its very close between them.. the VF-1 takes battroid but for me the decider is VF-1 as it nails gerwalk like a boss! Quote
wmkjr Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Here ya go, early F-14: Both test versions? Hope they can release the B/C versions in the future. Quote
