fairchild22 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 this is awesome. what is the best place to look to actually learn to do papercraft? Quote
Nyankodevice Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 this is awesome. what is the best place to look to actually learn to do papercraft? Papercraft in it self isnt that hard... same skill level as gluing a plastic model together... other skills needed: Precision and Patience... however if u mean a forum like this one.... http://www.papermodelers.com/ would be the go to forum for that... im not there my self that much... but definitely the go to forum for learning papercraft... Quote
Nyankodevice Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 and yet again i have something to show you! well nothing major like last update did some of the stripes Main thrusther and upper side of the "shoulders" also some progress on the rail cannons still not finished though... some weathering has been done around the "legs/thrusther" area... not sure if i overdid it abit? and i realized that i never showed u guys the underside of the SDF-1 here goes..... abbadon Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Masterpiece! This thing transforms, yes? I can't wait to see how it looks in Attack Mode. Quote
DarkArchon3000 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Absolutely Gorgeous! If this was a kit, I would want two. One for each mode. Quote
Nyankodevice Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Ok i was wondering, which type of varnish would be best for the main hull of the SDF-1 : Matt, Satin or gloss....? Personally I dont like gloss for this purpose, but I'm not sure about the other two types...? Any input would be useful.. Quote
Knight26 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I would test it on a small area or a discarded piece first to see how it looks, probably more of a satin finish though, given the size of the "actual" ship. Naval ships are mostly flat in color, but the water and constant repainting, cleaning can make them appear shiny. Quote
jvmacross Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Keeps looking better all the time! Are you adding detail to the Daedelus and Prometheus? Quote

Are you adding detail to the Daedelus and Prometheus? yes definitely, its a must i would say Quote
fairchild22 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 very nice, and thanks for the link! Quote
Nyankodevice Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 So the devil took hold of me again.... I decided to make the arm actuators movable To Better accommodate the "transformation" I'll post update to show u what I mean, tonight. Quote
big F Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 So not only are you awesome at paper craft you'll happily work on an already excellent build to make it transformable. You sir are on a level above most of us here. Quote
Nyankodevice Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 As promised ill show what i have in mind with the shoulder parts.... i disassembled the "shoulders" and made new structure inside made room for the arms... and here they are: Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I have a new found respect for papercraft now, simply awesome! Quote
Hikaru1234567890 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 OH MY GOD ITS EVEN GOING TO TRANSFORM!!!!!! Nyan...your just a really mad scientist now... Quote
Nyankodevice Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 ok Almost there! just need to make it all "pretty" again after having worked on it.... the "Arms" can rotate in 2 places and bend in two others!! need to paint it where i have made changes Quote
Mommar Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 It transforms too???? I'm so jealous! Damn, this thing looks amazing! Quote
big F Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I've seen kits that look rubbish compared to this, and to think its made out of old cardboard and paper. Quote
Nyankodevice Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 I've seen kits that look rubbish compared to this, and to think its made out of old cardboard and paper. the "arms" are rock solid... made of book binders cardboard they can easily with stand 50 kg pressure, maybe even 100 kg.... since they are gonna hold the Prometheus and Daedalus while also able to move bend and turn, they'd better be sturdy Quote
Mommar Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Holy poop man, why the eff isn't Arcadia finally giving us an SDFM version of this? The look and proportions of this are absolutely perfect! That's the perfect shade of blue and red for it as well. Truely awesome, I hate you. lol Edited September 9, 2014 by Mommar Quote

Nyankodevice Posted September 9, 2014 Author Posted September 9, 2014 The old cardboard statement was meant more in jest, this thing is stronger than the Chunky Monkey VF1 it weren't meant as a correction... cuz i do use old cardboard too... for different purpose though.... Quote
big F Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) In the uk there is a children's programme, called Blue Peter where they make suff and, when they tell you what you'll need to make it they always say you will need some old cardboard ans some sticky backed pastic (selotape), it just reminds me of paper craft Edited September 10, 2014 by big F Quote
Hikaru1234567890 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Will the ARMD's that thunderchild made fit on this? if so I need to print them and print out the SDF-1!!!! Quote
