Wu Jen Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I found this toy at a local Wal-Mart here in Iowa, USA. I will check to see who the manufacturer is but it looks like a 1/55 scale bandi type. Quote
CoryHolmes Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 13.5 kilos, gross weight? That must be solid metal! Quote
dyowelb Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 that wouldn't be right..13.43 kgs(29.6 lbs)!??? even a 10 yrs old kid would have hard time carrying that thing Quote
sbarrett4 Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I have one, its very good quality. Walmart has been carrying the other Galaxy Defender figures, but I have never seen the valkyrie. I hope this is a chain wide release. Well worth the 4-5 dollars price WM charges. Quote
Mr.Sci-Fi Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I'm going to buy several of these, I like the added armor lines. I think the galaxy defenders are through a place in Iowa. Quote
JB0 Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I've been checking my WalMart since I first saw this thing mentioned. Mine only carries the other bots. Quote
Druna Skass Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Does harmony crap know about this? Quote
91WhiskeyM6 Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 (edited) Does harmony crap know about this? Alright! 2 evil companies duking it out over their bootleg products I hope they destroy each other financially...bastards! Time to do some shopping! Edited December 21, 2003 by 91WhiskeyM6 Quote
Mr.Sci-Fi Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Does harmony crap know about this? They might but atleast this company is trying to change it enough to defend themselves. Quote
waylandcool Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I haven't seen this particular one at Wal-Mart yet. But knowing the inventory of all the stores around here, I may not seen it for another two or three weeks. There are a lot of empty store shelves here. Quote
ComicKaze Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 None in Canada here. What are the other Galaxy Defender bots? Quote
JB0 Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 None in Canada here. What are the other Galaxy Defender bots? A passenjer jet with support vehicles, a generic-looking spaceship, and... I'm sure the reIS another one, but I can't recall right now. Quote
Mr.Sci-Fi Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I just was told that these have been in walmarts since botcon. I've never came across one though. Quote
F-ZeroOne Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 that wouldn't be right..13.43 kgs(29.6 lbs)!??? even a 10 yrs old kid would have hard time carrying that thing I think you'll find thats the gross weight for a shipping carton or container for these things - not one individual piece. Something made of 13 Kgs of metal would have set off the die-cast mass sensors of every Japanese toy freak in the country...! Quote
Göönk Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 it's the weight for 18 toys it's written read Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Thanks for the heads-up Wu Jen!! I'm on the east coast and will be lookin' for them. Mind if I ask the price? Man, you could strip one of these boys down and customize away!! Quote
Radd Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 I've heard that there's also some Gao Gai Gar bootlegs in the Galaxy Defenders line. I think I saw a downsized King J-der toy. I'm gonna poke around Wal-Mart and see what I can find. Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 It was 12.95. "Impressive..................Most Impressive." Quote
mbs357 Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Next time I go to my local Wally-World (which could be months) I'll look around for one of these. D= But I'm in sort of a small town, and we don't get much in the way of the mainstream stuff...so meh. Quote
Dangaioh Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 woohoo inexpensive customizations, here i come. Quote
ewilen Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 This guy was reviewed on the old forums. I think it has a little less diecast than the originals--or none at all. At least one person sells them on eBay for $19.99. Quote
yellowlightman Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 woohoo inexpensive customizations, here i come. You can find reissues for $20-25, and you wont have to deal with filling all those hideous panel lines. It's cool to see another bootleg easily available, I just wish it wasn't so hideous. Quote
Mr.Sci-Fi Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Could you post the dcpi # off the reciept or the shelf tag to help others find it. I'm not sure if the numbers on the box will help either. Quote
Valkfan Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Has anyone else found one of these at Wal-Mart. I know that they're kind of funky looking, but I have heard that they are built as well as the Bandai's. This claim, if true, would make the Galaxy Defender, the best bootleg 1/55 (quality wise) ever made. If anyone else has found them, let me know. I'd really like one myself. RJ Quote
buddhafabio Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 i saw one when the thread was started but nothing good is at wally world now Quote
Mad Dawg Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 I think Wal-Mart got a cease and desist letter about this from HG. Not certain, but I remember seeing that somewhere. Quote
Guppy Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 OMG.. I actually like the paint scheme on the wings! I'll have to try that on a custom sometime. *ducks rotten fruit* Quote
newca Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 it has a very good looking, the nose is slimer than Bandai original I thought, they reshaped it? Quote
Guppy Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 Looking at the pic I just noticed that the wingtips have the same circle indent as the ankles. how strange!! Quote
Valkfan Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 (edited) In my endless search for the Galaxy Defender VF-1S, I found this! http://www.2005boards.com/showthread.php?t=12903&page=2 Edit: Never mind. I jumped the gun. I thought they were talking about the Galaxy Defender Jetfire. My mistake. Edited June 21, 2004 by Valkfan Quote

Before start customizing it you would have to "de-customize" it. Funny how the Battroid Mode is called Fighter Mode Edited June 21, 2004 by Lonely Soldier Boy Quote
