Valkyrie Hunter D Posted April 21, 2022 Author Posted April 21, 2022 All new FM game: Aaaaand it's for smartphones, ugh. But new FM is better than no FM I guess. Quote

Given modern Square Enix's track record of success when it comes to maintaining their back catalog? I dunno about that. Who wants to bet on the FM1 and 2 remakes being horribly optimized junk compared to the originals? They couldn't get Chrono Cross to even match the PS1 original's performance... Quote

Yep, I can only speculate on how good the new games will be. But if all these upcoming FM games result in more attention to the FM franchise or at least an official english release of FM5, I will gladly support Squeenix's efforts. Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 (edited) Gameplay footage of the FM2 remake: It sounds like FM3 will also get the remake treatment as well, but there's no video or screenshots of that project yet. Edited September 15, 2022 by Valkyrie Hunter D Quote

I’m interested since FM3 was the first (and only) Front Mission game I‘ve ever played. Quote

I don’t think that the ones before 3 came out here in the U.S.. 3 was the first one I ever saw. It was such a great game for the time. Quote
Rhubarbarian Posted September 15, 2022 Posted September 15, 2022 Yeah, IIRC we only got 3, 4, and then that 3rd person 360 one. We missed 1, 2, and 5. Upon double-checking, I guess the DS port of the first one eventually made it over around 2007? I liked 4 more than most people, it seemed; was always bummed we never got 5. Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted September 15, 2022 Author Posted September 15, 2022 FM5 was the pinnacle of the series imho, I hope the remakes go that far. Gameplay for FM Borderscape looks promising: Quote
davidwhangchoi Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 I want an official english translation of 5 so bad Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted September 16, 2022 Author Posted September 16, 2022 Watching the gameplay footage for the FM2 remake makes me thankful they sped up the combat. In the original, the wanzers would float/dance around each other for quite a while before performing an action. This would consequently make each round trudge on forever, it was worse than Ring of Red. That combined with reading an online script to translate all the Japanese dialog added up to a not so fun way to play the original FM2, so I gave it up. Quote
Big s Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Looking forward to another set even though I’m still waiting on the third one Quote

Even designs I wasn’t super excited about have enough options to make them stand out. I’m really glad they’re pumping these little guys out regularly. Quote

Valkyrie Hunter D Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 New release trailer for FM2 Remake: BTW, Phantom Brigade finally hit the market. I've been following its development since its announcement; it reminds me of Front Mission but with a time manipulation element: Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted April 18, 2023 Author Posted April 18, 2023 Well, sh!t - Borderscape was canned. I'm guessing licensing costs is the cause for the breakdown since it seems the game was just reskinned and plot points were changed. I'll still give Mecharashi a try though. Quote

I loved Ring of Red's alternate history setting and the mecha designs were cool, but yes, battle sessions were as slow as molasses. It didn't help that all the mechs moved as if they were stuck on 1st gear. I also remember taking shots with "99.9" percent chance of hitting the target, only for the shot to COMPLETELY miss. That happened way too often. Quote
davidwhangchoi Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Ring of Red was so fun. I loved the little side soldiers that accompany Quote
