Details (not that there are many atm) at the bottom of this post.

http://www.macrossworld.com/5878/macross-frontier-movie-boxset-announced-with-english-subtitles/

Macross Card Fighter - a social game (probably for smartphones). Possible follow up to 'Macross Cross-Deculture'? (which was pretty terrible...)

Macross Sound Scramble - a musical action game for smartphones? Now THIS sounds intriguing.

New details will be posted as they arrive.

Thanks for the news. Personally, I'm disappointed they're smartphone things, but they sound pretty cool, more Macross games never hurt. It's also about time there's a music-based game for the series.

So was I...

Why don't they release a Macross for VITA? They could do something great.

I'm still sticking to the old iterations on PSP (done, done and over done).

Personally I would've liked another PS3 game (could build upon the existing Macross 30 engine to reduce development costs), but unfortunately smartphone games are where the money is at these days. Lower development costs, maximum hardware penetration, much longer revenue tail. I don't like it but unfortunately thats where the market is at these days.

And here I was expecting to find words like "PS4" or "Vita"...

Well the PS4 hasnt even been released here in Japan yet! Even if it had, given the niche nature of a property like Macross, the development costs for a PS4 game woould be far too high for the game to even break even, let alone make a profit.

The Vita has a higher possibility of getting something at some point, although the install base is nowhere near that of the PSPs - this is the main problem facing putting a Macross game on the platform at the moment.

On a separate note, the following images have been doing the rounds for a while. No screenshots or gameplay information yet though.

I assume that Artdink is involved with these games? Seeing as the artwork is identical to the stuff used in Macross 30.

Artdink was just the developer. The art was not done in-house (done by Marufuji) and the rights to said art reside with BW.

Given that Artdnk has no prior experience on mobile platforms and that neither of these titles has the action-oriented gameplay that they tend to do, I doubt they would be involved.

They also arent credited on the game's official website.

Naturally, this is all hearsay until the games actually come out though.

An unbelievably cool trailer for an admittedly poor game.

That... was... awesome!

Makes me wonder, though, would this be the only time we get to see a hand-animated YF-30?

I assume it will be like the Transformers mobile card game, where you collect character cards and equip them with weapons and such and engage in turn based battles in a simple ladder form story mode, aswell as the multiplayer battles. most of the battles are automated and just rely on the stats of each card.

Thats what I'm guessing this game will be like, similar vien.

Just FYI, its already been out for a month.

And I WISH it had as much depth as you've just described. It's basically just static card management leading to fights against bosses. There are 'raid bosses' but nothing as complex as PvP or multiplayer. Some nice art though.
