I'm still waiting for Elvis Draken, Bandai-san.

. . . Add it to the list of items Bandai needs to release. <_<

Speaking of things Bandai will take forever to release, I'm glad I took the plunge and fixed this old pup up when I did:

Is it modded? Just it being able do an A-stance makes a whole world of difference and gives it a more modern look. :good:

Modded and repainted.

Shoulders were busted right out of the box.  So, had to do more work than I originally anticipated.

Though, it was a fun little project to keep busy with, when the pandemic first hit.

- Get a dark colored Valk;

- Leave it exposed to dust for at least a year;

- Wipe off excess dust;

Viola, grey panel-lining for your Valk! :D:

Recolouring all my yellowed valks . Kept them away from uvs ,smoke etc ..but eventually they turn yellow . Have tried using hydrogen peroxide, but it only last for awhile.So recolouring is the only option left .Didn't want to use white as it will turn yellow again. Even some of the green ,grey etc turns . Got total of 17 valks and accessories have to respray .... But I'm quite certain the new coat of acrylic ( deeper colours ) will not turn . But still ,hopefully the lighter grey I'm using doesn't turn .Lost some of the tiny decals on the way which I cannot mask out tho.

Do you mean no UV light or "not much" UV light? Is the room 100% blacked out with no windows? What sort of lighting do you have in the room?

What sort of time period are we talking about here?

Room wasn't fully dark . I'm using LED lights .

Time period as in how long I own those toys ? Think they have been with me for 8-10 yrs or more if starts with the yamato versions.

As much as light plays a factor, temperature variations and just the damn plastic itself can contribute to the yellowing issue.

I have a few 3.75” Star Wars clones, Stormtroopers, and Biker Scout that yellowed on me.  From stinkin’ Hasbro of all companies!

And I did stick a Yammy 1/48 TV Max 1A up in the attic that “tealed” on me.

But yeah, painting was the best option to fix each of these things.

Yamcadia valks may somewhat cost double of Bandai's, but from yellowing experience they are much more resistant to it and appear to take twice as long before they turn.

I have always wanted to try the fishing line method to display valks; they are a such a clean way to show them in flight. Actually bought some but never got around to doing it yet.

I definitely didn’t do my Max any favors (subjecting it to that temperature abuse), and it also wound up affecting gun strap too.

But it’s the only 1A I still have:

I have an idea to save folks a lot of grief and time struggling with this issue:

We simply declare yellowing 'canon"; that after so much time in space, the paint just tends to yellow on the mecha.

Boom! Problem solved! :D

Lol! I know huh?

But we all know people will then take images from different sources and drive themselves crazy complaining that their shade of yellow is off. 🤪

And then it's not 'canon' anymore. Boom! Back to having problem! :lol:

Haha, see now that looks fine to me but I know some people just can't handle it.

I’d rather see the 17D get reissued (along with the FP armor), since I preferred that head better.

I'm good with either, since I don't have both. :)

i love the heft of the 17 and ode to the retired F117

Agreed on this. :good:

Yamato 17 is a bit of love-hate. Basically it is quite the polar opposite of the Chogokin 171. Sculpt is neither here nor there on both fighter & battroid, it has next to none tampo details & the legs in Fighter have a strong tendency to detach. Yet the wings stay on properly, the plastics feels very robust, and the heft is likely to be just about the heaviest per sq inch for a valk (I don't have the 1/55 chunky so perhaps that trumps it).

And while the Chogokin 171 have detached quite far from the F-117 due to the long nose cone, the Yamato 17 still looks the part.
