Star Wars = The greatest movie franchise of all time

Yes, this includes all of them so watch them all when you get a chance. So much more going on in all aspects of story and movie making happening in all the films that paved the way for what we can experience in theaters and at home these days.

You’re thinking of Rogue One which is probably the only decent Star Wars film to be released since Empire Strikes Back.

I'm going to have to correct you there, Return of the Jedi has the best space battle ever set to film.

Haven't see Twilight Saga at all during my years in YYZ, although I did read the entire book saga over a month and half (I know... A Tween book series). Didn't get any glares from any of my female friends that a guy is actually reading the book series.

There are actually reports of guys reading the book series, don't know if they liked it or not. Manga is another ball game... :p

I tried watching the first Twilight movie, I really did, and an honest attempt without preconceptions, too; but it had me hitting my head against a wall within less than 15 minutes... after that I stopped watching it, and I felt immediately better.

Upon inspection of this Psylock I need to find the black haired version.  I don’t understand why they changed her costume color as well as the hair because this costume color is wrong.

Congrats.  Where did you get them?  I hope I can get one of each of the types of Psylocke.

I would not bother watching Star Wars ep 8 The last Jedi. Total disrespect to our iconic characters. I tried watching it a second time, and I could not finish it. Total crap sore movie from friggin’ hell.

Target.  I got lucky, I took my Dad to a Dental appointment and went next door to keep myself occupied.  They were restocking the toys at the time and they happened to have a whole, unopened case waiting for me.

I liked Ep 8 quite a bit. Worth the watch.

Luke had one of his baddest ass, non pansy moments in the entire franchise in that movie.

SPOILERS!!!

You are going to tell me the man who gave his own life to save his murderous Father, would try to kill his own still innocent Nephew, in his sleep?

Luke Destroyed the Death star, brought down an AT-At by himself, He took out at least half of Jabba's gunmen, and then let the Emperor attempt to kill him, so his Dad, would in turn face the emperor, and redeem himself. This is not badass?

What did Luke do in ep 8? Luke whined, drank nasty milk, and projected himself to another planet. To just die of exhaustion. How is that badass? Even Mark Hamill, himslef said " this is not my Luke" in regards to the poor treatment his character got.

Do you want to get into the plot holes, and terrible waste of time in Canto Bight, the casino? Flying Leia? Chewbacca does nothing in this movie? Not for  a second Luke mourns the death of his best friend? They destroy characters at the expense of a joke(Genreal Hux)? The super slow space chase? The fact that Admiral Holdo wont share the escape plan to the man who just saved them, by destroying the dreadnought? This causing an unnecessary mutiny? The social justice warriors message with the horse/bunny/dog creatures? Plus, listen to Rian johnson, the guy who wrote and directed the film

This to me, means he can please only half the audience. Plus this "sequel" (ep8) does not follow the things set up in the previous film. Then the terrible humor...

In my conversations online i have noticed the people who actually liked this movie despised Luke's character. I can understand that, and I have to say, a beautiful movie to behold. This movie is well filmed and incredibly beautiful. It is like buying a beautiful Italian sports car, but it doesn't run. It is pretty though!

I am sorry man, but if you liked it, i am glad for you.

If you liked TLJ or hated it, that's fine. However, I bolded the above part because Star Wars fanboys love to take Hammill out of context to "prove" their point or whatever.

Hammill didn't agree with the direction of his character at first, but once he saw the entire arc that was written for Luke, he said it was interesting and he did like it.

Anyway that's all I have to say on the matter. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan or anything so I have no stake in this and this isn't a Star Wars movie thread anyway.

Lolicon, Disney called Hamill into attention. Disney knew this was negative for the brand. Mark apologized for his remarks, and then became more optimistic about the movie. He is a great actor.

Technoblue, since disney bought the franchise the toys quiality went to crap. NOW after lots of fan backlash and competition from Figuarts and others, Hasbro is upping their game. I partially blame TLD for the collapse of ToysRus. I don't know if you noticed the mountains of star wars products not sold. People hated the movie, so the toys won't sell.

He went out with a fizzle. It was so bad it turned me off of the new movies (except rogue one).  And why couldn’t a droid or even the ships computer light speed into the other ship. Ugh....

Posted (edited)

I am still turned off too Erikelvis. This is why Solo flopped. No one cares anymore.

edit in: The Return of the Jedi's space battle is :yahoo:

Remember how the ships had to divert, because of the shields being active on the Deathstar? then in TLJ the shields don't matter, right? UGH

Yeahp. Anyhoo, my Calibre Wings Su-24 Fencer was delayed until the end of August, and my Hobby Master Su-34 Fullback was delayed until December. So no die cast for me for a while!

The Force Awakens toys were crap, but The Last Jedi line was a significant improvement across the board:

Bash the film all you want, but the toys were the best Hasbro had given us in nearly a decade.  :good:

Yes, they even have face printing technology now. Hasbro has upped their game, and the prices...

BTW, that Kylo's Tie fighter(pictured with wrong pilot) is way too small. I got all the Tie fighters, including the force awaken's, and I can't bring myslef to put this thing next to them. Plus the plastic is shait, at best. I saw it on sale for 30 bucks, and i still didn't buy it. I watched it die. I had car repairs too, but hey, I watched it die...

BTW i have bought no TLJ toys. Big turn off.

Yes, it's underscaled -- as the vast majority of Star Wars vehicles have always been -- but it's proportionally accurate.  It looks like it's supposed to.

The Force Awakens TIE Fighters had grossly undersized wings, which I found far more inexcusable:

1278951623_TIEsnewandnewer.thumb.jpg.6b681cc2e582e959ddd825871e03e5b5.jpg

...and of course, their plastic was shite, too.  <_<

Maybe it would help to have someone from the Marvel Legends design team transferred to the Star Wars line...

Once Hasbro ditched the 3 3/4” scale for the 6 inch scale and left us with 5 POA figures, I knew it was time to leave.

As much as it sucked at the time, I feel like I made the right decision to jump out.

If you could actually find them (seriously, Hasbro’s horrid distribution and case assortments killed the toy lines), the Vintage Collection figures (from the early 2010’s) were pretty damn solid.

Posted (edited)

That on the left, is the legacy collection tie fighter,  with the bigger wings. Still, look at the size of the cockpit. at least that's the same. I Own a TFA Tie, and its the same size cockpit as it is for all my other Tie fighters. TFA Tie plastic sucks though. The Lego Kylo's Tie is actually a bit more proportionate. Yes know the scale is off generally ins star wars, but judging from the plastic quality, this looks ridiculously small. Please pause video for size comparison.

How do you pilot this thing? Laying down? It is tiny, and embarrassing...

Haha, well Star Wars certainly draws out the passion and dissent all the time! :D

Since the conversation started here, I'm going to leave my hopefully final thoughts and responses here.

Plus, I haven't had time to take any pics of my new hauls lately. I can say that I've gotten more MCU ML figures that I don't care about but am compelled to buy for some reason.

So...Since when has Mark Hamill's opinion on Luke had any influence on the direction of the character? Whatever the case, in the end it was pointed out that he changed his mind about his negative opinion after seeing the last film and we have to take it for what it is. I am probably the biggest Start Wars fan and possible apologist there is but I have never considered or heard of Mark Hamill being a great actor. Which brings me to one of my main points:

Start Wars has never been about great acting or bulletproof plots.

Luke did baddass things in most the movies he was in but the last one was the most badass. He whined and ate nasty rations in ESB, he whined pretty much all the time. He's not even the most important character of the franchise.

Star Wars has always been about fun set in a classic setting and that has been preserved and consistent throughout all the movies.

I was against 6" SW figures and coincidentally quit collecting everything around the time BS 6" figures came out. I've since succumbed but I also realize the "real" Star Wars toys to have these days are made by Bandai, not Hasbro. I bought that Kylo Tie Fighter because I saw it on sale for $15 and it looks, yes, badass.

OK, sorry for the sidetrack, just felt I deserve to respond in the thread that started the discussion.

Move along, move along...
