Not sure if it’s an update to the old hg kit or totally new, but there’s a preorder for an hg Dunbine on the p Bandai US store. The joints definitely look new though and I don’t remember the feet in the old one having articulated toes. A bit pricey at $37 and changeIMG_2199.jpeg.8f82cdc46d35217dc1c414fd4cf9d0c2.jpegIMG_2200.jpeg.ab3c59b4373819e5de2c69d85ddb6b39.jpegIMG_2200.jpeg.ab3c59b4373819e5de2c69d85ddb6b39.jpegIMG_2198.jpeg.9fbfb7bc31abb5c03ee8b269349b654d.jpegIMG_2197.jpeg.29ceb01ab346dfbf1c584438fac60104.jpeg

Finally able to answer my own question since I just got one as a gift. I’d been curious if it was just an updated kit, but it’s actually a brand new mold as of 2023. All the runners have the same date on them. No polycaps and no rubbery joints on this like the old one. The wings have an interesting sparkle and the canopy uses “half mirror technology”. Basically it’s like a weird mirror is coating over the top, but is still a dark clear plastic that mends up translucent. I just thought their term was funny.
not sure how to recommend it the kit since it seems really great, but costly for a hg kit. Maybe for a big Dunbine and model kit fan that has extra spending cash

Wow! Congrats on the score. 👍

Unfortunately I missed out on the premium preorder along with the L-Gaim MK-2 and others in the series. Sad days for this noob.

I did however get a preorder for the large MG Dunbine the other day which will mark my entry into the series. Not sure if it’s just a reissue or reworked design. Photos used for the preorder looked like the same ones from the OG box art. 🤔

From what I’ve gathered, the mg is the old one. But it really is hard to find info on non gundam kits. I had to actually check the runners on the Dunbine hg kit to see that it actually was an all new kit. I skipped the hg Virunvee, and now I’m wondering if that was also a brand new kit. I may have to get one to find out if it gets rereleased like the hg Dunbine and the Dragonar 1

After looking at the pictures and the price on the mg, I’m pretty sure it’s the old kit. The dang thing is less expensive than the new hg kit and that was my first clue

Yeah I bet it is the old one. Wild the HG was more $$$$ lol.
I’ll chime back in when it arrives. I’m scratching my head on how to paint on the soft rubber parts at the joints and legs. Haven’t had luck with any flexible materials taking paint without flaking off and looking crappy.

Best way to handle soft material is honestly to just leave it be. There aren’t many paints that work on them, but in the grooves on the old hg kits that had rubbery joints, I found that games workshop paints don’t come out of the grooves easily. I did a panel lining with their black and it gave a pretty good effect since nothing was in contact with those areas and the gw paints are a little rubbery themselves. Those parts also don’t sand well, so for mold line a sharp knife blade works if you have a steady hand.

I think I remember someone using plastidip on them, but I’d definitely test before use.

As far as being cheaper, it’s probably due to the age of that kit. It’s pretty old at this point and all the newer hg web exclusives are really pricey between 35 and 50 bucks here in the U.S.

Thanks for the tips. I’ll look around for that paint.
I’m going to also give this little Tamiya weathering kit a go as a test on some scraps. It reminds me of a small makeup set with a pad applicator. I think it’s wax based? Not sure… Maybe it will work on highlighting some of the rubber areas to create a nice effect if it can stick to it.

Not sure if that stuff will really stick. It will lay down well, but probably rub off easily and the rubbery stuff doesn’t handle top coats well.

Ahhhh. Good to know. I will probably never reveal the inner “muscle” frame legs, or brain anyways so maybe this is just a case of leave it alone.

I already have the main color version of this kit and absolutely love it. This is just a recolor of that one , but for fans of kits and Dunbine and you skipped the main color version, then I highly recommend this kit. It’s not the older high grade kit or an updated one. It’s a recolor of a totally new hg kit.

Very easy to clean up and extremely minimal on the seams. Everything other than a few parts that need a little touch of black are totally in color, so barely any work for those that don’t mess with seams. It’s just too bad the line is all web exclusive, that’s really the only complaint I’ve got about them.

Yes please to all these beautiful kits. I entered this hobby late and missed that HG Dunbine. Now is my chance. Hehehehe. ♥️🪲

I missed the dunbine the first go around, but got it in the second and really love it. I’m hoping for more of theses kits. The Virunvee looks pretty cool as well, but I didn’t have the cash at the time.

Wow.I didn’t know they had a P-B release for Virunvee. I’ll have to do a search for that one. Maybe it makes a return?

They probably will. Most of their stuff goes up again and again after a while.

found some pictures of it. Not sure if they were on a previous pageIMG_2924.jpeg.4c515f9ef04ae10f17283e70cbd06110.jpegIMG_2925.jpeg.eb591a2eae5816a32c40bc97a8c1589b.jpegIMG_2926.jpeg.e9cd720c73bc532859eb7f5c5385a7f1.jpegIMG_2927.jpeg.5d7e0ccbbdc9c94ca0a0736651963481.jpegIMG_2928.jpeg.559f93ed233b2e68cde5018134566a57.jpeg

Sunrise Robot Laboratory new second experimental video "AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE R". Following the first experimental video "AURA BATTLER DUNBINE SIDE L" released in May 2024, this video was peoduced by a collaboration between Bandai Namco Filmworks and Kamikaze Douga, a video production company with a track record in numerous anime. New settings such as new weapons will appear. In addition, the theme song is "Remaining Story", written specificially for this experimental video and sung by MindaRyn.

Looks cool. Wish they will redo all their Sunrise 80's mecha stuff in this new anime styling. I would rewatch everything again.

I thought it was funny that he didn’t know how to use the lance. He just used it like a club.

Personally, I’m fine with the old animation. I’d rather they do some more new mecha action shows. There’s a major lack of anything in that genre these days and way too many reincarnated from a video game or into a video game. If I wanted to watch someone stuck in a video game I’d just watch Tron again
