g3173 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Thought I would post some recent pics for the new peeps. Man i've missed this place. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Sweeeet! Always nice to see some 1/48 love! Don't know why Yamato went for the bubbly canopy instead of keeping the more lineart sleek canopy on the 1/60's. Paris act, enigma and honeycomb digi camo = awesome! Edited October 4, 2013 by Valkyrie addict Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Those are such awesome customs. I want to make a 1/60 version of the Enigma some day, but I'm not sure where I could get the decals for it. Quote
g3173 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Valkyrie Addict, that digi camo is the infamous Blue Rose. That's my favorite of the group. I'll dig out my other 1/48 customs and will post more tomorrow. Think 1/48 line nailed the look. Macross Junkie, that was Kurt's 1st Enigma custom. Still a solid piece for how old it is. Also one of my favs Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Ahh...Blue Rose, nice, very nice!!. Masking and stencil use for digital camo is an art. Kurt's work is the best, I knew I'd seen that enigma and paris act custom before, what other gems do you have hidden, do post!! Wish I knew Kurt¿s technique he uses to prevent paint chipping. Quote

Also one of my favs Yeah, I remember those posted back in the day. Kurt, Jung, and others made some great customs with the 1/48's. I wish I knew Kurt's method of getting the graphics for the decals. I don't think they were scanned from the Model Graphix magazine. Quote
g3173 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 MacrossJunkie, the decals were all custom made by Devin aka Anasazi37. He made some sick water decals that finish these customs. They truly looked painted on. I have a full custom DYRL set too along with a one of a kind Jung Cannon Fodder. Still trying to find it in storage. Will post more when I get them all set up. My son is dying to get his hands on these. He's 7 so he's not to keen on the, we only look.. hahah. Quote
Mommar Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I specifically have a beat up V.2 1J and 1S I keep around in case my nephew ever wants to play with any of my Valks. The rest are "don't touch" but he's usually pretty happy with just the 1J and 1S. My ex-girlfriend's son too, though he REALLY wanted to play with my 17's. Quote
g3173 Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Mommar, man my son has gotten his hands on a couple of 1/60's and 1/55's and they are beyond beat up. hahahaha. The 1/48's are all for daddy. LOL Quote
zulu Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Could you imagine what it would be like if all the companies decided to stick with Yamatos 1/48 scale and not switch to 1/60. OMG swooshing around a 1/48 Nora or a VF11c would be amazing!! Quote

OMG swooshing around a 1/48 Nora or a VF11c would be amazing!! I know I would be much poorer and would need a lot more detolfs because the toys would be a lot more expensive and I wouldn't be able to fit as many on each shelf. Heck, a 1/48 SV-51 wouldn't even fit as the 1/60 version in fighter mode already has to be displayed at an angle just to get it to fit. Edited October 6, 2013 by MacrossJunkie Quote
xrentonx Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Yes. Poorer and smaller collection would pretty much be it for me. I would've tapped out a long time ago. I'm very happy they stuck with the smaller scale since it was perfect for me Quote
mojacko Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 drooling over those magnificent work of art..... Quote
bbrain Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 these are amazing. someone should make a custom in the popular street wear patterns like floral or digi floral, that would be awesome. if i could i would. Quote
g3173 Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Found this custom Kirk made for me. This may have been the last piece he built for me. This is the 1st time i've taken it out of the box to display. Bad ass VF1J Custom Quote
g3173 Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 Finally dug out the Strke Low Vis done by Kurt and Desert Brown Digi Camo Blue Rose Strike done by June. it's been fun finally taking these guys out of the boxes and putting them together. My son is dying to get his hands on them and see if they can fly.... yike! Hope you enjoy MW. Quote
Reïvaj Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 I'm certainly enjoying them! Awesome stuff!!! Quote
g3173 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Some beautiful chunky monkey customs that I dug out today from storage. Some OG MW Peeps should recognize some of these. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?app=gallery&album=659 Quote
g3173 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Thanks Falcon. Going through these brought back a ton of memories. Can't believe what we used to spend on all these 1/55's only to pay more money to the customizers to make them better. Quote
Falcon Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Wish Kurt was still around making Macross customs like Frenzyrumble does for Transformers... those are certainly pieces of art! Quote

MacrossJunkie Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Those are all such fantastic customs. You have quite a unique VF-1 collection to be proud of. I wish Arcadia would make some of those or at least sell some decals and more of those blank VF-1 kits. Quote
