areaseven Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Prisoners is a suspense-drama film directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Hugh Jackman (like no one here knows who he is...), Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Colter in Source Code), Terrence Howard (James Rhodes in Iron Man, Djay in Hustle & Flow), Viola Davis (Maj. Anderson in Enders Game), Maria Bello (Edie in A History of Violence, Evelyn in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), Melissa Leo (Alice in The Fighter), and Paul Dano (Seth in Looper). In this film, two families' daughters disappear on Thanksgiving night, with the only clue being a run-down RV they were last seen playing around. When police apprehend the RV's owner, the case is thrown out due to no evidence found in the vehicle and the driver having an I.Q. of a 10-year-old. Jackman is pissed, so he takes matters into his own hands and abducts the driver to find the truth about the missing children. The film opened in the U.S. on September 20 at #1 on the box-office. Reviews have been mostly positive (79% on Rotten Tomatoes), with some independent critics comparing the plot to The Dark Knight. There's also been some speculation that Jackman and Gyllenhaal could receive Oscar nominations for their performances. Official Site Quote
