I really don't have to "ask" to buy anything. I pay 100% of the damn bills lol

However...there's the "so what are ya going to buy me?" question. I've been getting that alot lately lol. And Christmas presents don't count.

After a Max 1/48 VF-1A last week, A Hikaru VF-1J 1/48 coming this week and Tenchu figures coming from HLJ today, I'll be hiding.

how do you other married men convince wifey of addition to collection

Frankly, I don't. If I asked, she'd just say "no." I figure my play money is mine to spend, so no biggy. We have sort of a "don't ask/don't tell" thing going on. She doesn't support my habit, but she doesn't give me too much hell about it either.

I try to keep purchases within reason. I don't have a lot of things I spend money on (dont go out to bars, dont smoke, no clubs) so its not a big deal. Look at your finances...if its a small thing thats important to you she should understand. My wife doesn't understand exactly why I love my toys, but shes knows how much joy I get from it, so as long as I keep it within reason she is cool with it.

my beliefs also, and my spending spree came after i put in 16 hours over time. 34 hours o/t in three weeks. so we are not hurting with money and only need gifts for 2 people. and on top of that i get bonuses for good work proformances.(that check is this week) and a xmas bonus

YOU: Hey honey I'm having an affair.

WIFE: WHAT!?!?!?!

YOU: Just kidding, but I did buy a Hikaru Valkyrie VF-1J with Fast Packs and I passed by your favorite shoe store and got you a gift certificate that equals the valk's worth

WIFE: Oh honey you're the best... get in the sack and think of the dirtiest things you want me to do!!!

I suppose my wife and I have a pretty good relationship. We are both layed back and don't argue or bark orders. If there is something I want and we can afford it, she is all for it. She knows it something I enjoy and makes me happy. The same goes for her, too. However, if it gets really expensive like when I spend $500 in a short amount of time, she will point it out and give me a little grief. When things get tight, we both understand that we can't spend money on certain things.

Har Har! It's about that easy...but I'd keep the affair thing outta the picture.

It's pretty easy for me to get my goodies by me wife....it's just very expensive. For example...that Super VF-1J that cost around $180 with shipping and everything, cost me around $360. Yep, that's right..... whatever money I spend on valks, the wife gets to spend on clothes, cd's ect. It's really not that bad....it keeps my girl happy and unconcerned about my growing mech collection.

So I don't want to hear people fussing about the price of 1/48's! They cost me double!:)

My wife is great, never once has she given me grief over any of my purchases. I'm the one who feels kinda guilty because it just seems like so much money for a toy. We could put the money towards so many other things. But we are good with our finances and this is the only thing I collect.

I just made a little Christmas present to myself; 1/48 low vis and 2 sets of fast packs. I guess that present isn't so little come to think of it.

I have been doing good with that lately. I pay all the bills and still get here things too. She does not know how much each piece costs and does not ask. She even got me a curio cabinet to display some of them. Like Myersjessee

I try to keep purchases within reason. I don't have a lot of things I spend money on (dont go out to bars, dont smoke, no clubs) so its not a big deal.
Also I rarely drink. A friend of hers says my wife is lucky because her husband spends thousands of dollars on race cars that just sit on the lawn and she would rather deal with the toys. She does not help add to my collection but just puts up with it because I still am a good husband and father like the rest of you here. If you keep them happy you will be happy. ;)B))

If you only collect Macross your lucky. My big 3 are Macross, Star Wars and Simpsons. I also collect Muppets, MOTU, some McFarlane sports and some other figures I come across I think are made well and look good.

She is pretty understanding becasue I don't drink smoke and I am not into cars at all. I have my collecting and hockey. So as long as we aren't broke and I ask for money for something I really don't get a fuss from her.

I stick to a monthy budget that my wife and I agreed on. This way, I still get to pursue my hobby while we aggresively save for our house.

Not married yet, but living with my fiançée, does that count? :p

I rarely buy anything. I don't smoke, I don't drink, and I don't go to nightclubs or parties. So I sort of have "credit" saved up for when I want to buy stuff. She actually tells me to go out and buy things sometimes!

But, it also helps that she's into dolls (like that Minmay doll that someone posted about before). Hell, she got herself the VE-1 because she thought it was cute and liked the name. When she got it, she tore it out of the package and started petting it and calling it her "birdy"! She's the greatest! :D

My wife has been pretty good so far but I have to say she's getting upset over closet space....I've got two walk-in closets full of Macross boxes...

-K

Yikes! Is that your private collection or the storage for the store inventory?!?

My wife rocks.

We have pretty much no spare money, or at least, the spare money we do have can always be better put to use somewhere else (kids, bills etc). So I made an agreement with her that I would finance my own habit.

I have a credit card that's solely for my anime addiction, so I get what I want. Usually, I am paying my own way through other means  . But occasionally, she'll have to pay the bill out of the real money, but she never gives me grief about it.

However, she's drawing the line at letting me get the big gigantic display case that I want. "Too much wall space"she says.

can't hid anything form an accountant.

Just have to make it up to her, for every one 1/48 I have ta let purchase two ta three shoes from nine west. So far she's out topped my macross collection in shoes. :D

My wife has her own hobbies that she spends on so she doesn't give me too much grief. As long as money isn't tight neither of us gets upset about what the other spends. When things get tight we each expect the other to use common sense.

hmmm??? paypal accounts. anything i sell, the $$$ stays in paypal. try to schedule shipments so she's not at home, send stuff to my job, etc.

she usually just says, "Now, what did you buy?" and then walks away before I can answer.

if i really want something, i'll just go work some overtime or a side job to get the cash. I try not to spend too much at any one time. usually no more than $150 or so per month (never you mind that I'm waiting anxiously right now for the FedEx man to show up with my Super VF-1J and reissue VF-1S from ValkyrieExchange.) I try to keep it within reason... :p

I'm not married, but I might as well be...

As for my girlfriend though... She likes my Valks... She wants me to teach her how to transform them.... So as far as grief for buying them... I'm a lucky man... I don't get ANY grief. :D

Now if I can get her to portray the enemy in mock battles, that would be something... Her explosion sounds aren't very convincing.:lol:
