Robowang Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Sweet holy crap! I have never owned one of these until today...I got the DYRL Milia 639 red Queadluun Rau mecha and OH MY GOSH this thing is one of the coolest toys I have ever owned. I had no idea the figure included was the same size as the CMS figures, nor that the whole thing was this BIG. So is this why the CMS Zentraedi outfit Max figure is leaning back in that pose a little bit? Does he actually fit in the blue version of this mecha? Or does that one come with a Max figure? Now I just gotta find a Bandai 1/55 DYRL Valkyrie in Max colors to go up against this baby! Also, it looks really nice on display with the old Matchbox Robotech Battlepod and Officer Pod. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 The blue Max Q-Rau doesn't come with the max pilot figure. I think you have to do a slight mod to the CMS Max figure to fit in the Q-Rau. Quote
Benson13 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 No mod on Max required. His lower legs pull right off and he has two joints in his arm to mimic Milias position. Quote
Robowang Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 That's awesome. I love when companies make products to fit something from another line. Very cool. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 ah..that's the thing, pull the legs off so the canopy could close, thanks. Quote
Benson13 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Just trying to be a team player. Let me know if you want pics. Quote
Kurisama Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I should really get around to finishing my TV Rau custom. Quote
Robowang Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) So is this "Queadluun Rehr/Rare" thing I see on ebay just the same toy with a new "face" or is it something different? From what I can tell, there's some Klang Klang girl who uses it in Macross Frontier? I've never seen it, but I'm curious about the toy. Edited September 6, 2013 by Robowang Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 there's the old Yamato Q-Rau discussed here, it was made in the late 90's I think after the v1 Vf-1 I think, based on DYRL. There's the non scale Bandai modified Q-Rau used by Klan-klan in Macross Frontier made recently. sithlord, that's a beautil M&M shrine...you're just missing their 1J's and virgin road. Quote
Kurisama Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) At a glance the original DYRL Rau and Plan's Rhea look quite similar. But you'll find - apart from the obvious difference of impact cannon, duel canisters, face and forearm cannons - most of the main body parts and backpack are different. Lots of little greebles like cameras, thruster nozzles & vents. Trust me, I've studied the design a lot... I should add its designed for a more aggressive stance and silhouette as well as far more articulation & flexibility. Edited September 6, 2013 by Kurisama Quote
Robowang Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Thanks for the info! Also, I'm sad, because the cockpit doesn't actually close over the Max figure. I took off his boots and positioned his arms, and he looks great sitting in there (minus it being Millia's) but because of his shoulder pads, the two side pieces don't close all the way. I guess that saves me $100+ for not having to buy the Max suit. Damn, Macross is expensive. On that note, at least I have a thing for the old Bandai Valkyrie mold. Those seems to be a bit cheaper than those removable leg Yamato things that I don't like. Are any companies ever going to make Valkyries again, or is that pretty much over for good? Quote

Are any companies ever going to make Valkyries again, or is that pretty much over for good? there is a WHOLE world of valkyries now!! get thee to anymoon.com to read up on them! yamato's valks havent needed to remove the legs in a VERY long time...like a decade or so. I think you will love the current (2008 to current) yamato "v2" 1/60's (yamato is now arcadia so the current releases and thus upcoming are now branded arcadia), or the older (early to mid naughts) 1/48 scale valks. Valkyrie addict Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 LOL!! I must be getting too old now where my mind merges different decades into one, don't know why I always remembered the v1's being released in late 90's. Thanks for clarifying my mistake EXO. Quote
Robowang Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Hmmm. Still liking the old Bandai's better. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing Really, though, any big versions of the Hikaru Strike Valkyrie VF-1S would be amazing. The only Yamato version of that seems to sell for well over $500, and that's just NUTS. Good to know that this Arcadia thing I keep hearing about is actually the Yamato company, though. I thought it was just that garish looking forward-swept wing Valkyrie I keep seeing pictures of. Thought that was called the Arcadia or something. Can you tell I haven't watched any of the more recent Macross series? Quote

I thought it was just that garish looking forward-swept wing Valkyrie I keep seeing pictures of. Thought that was called the Arcadia or something. Can you tell I haven't watched any of the more recent Macross series? But the "forward-swept wing Valkyrie", actually called the YF-19, is from Macross Plus, which was released in 1994. So it's not very recent at all... Can't blame you though; the original show is and will probably always be the best. However, Macross Plus is generally considered one of the best sequels, so you should give it a try. The same goes for the toys! Quote
skullmilitia Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I think Yamato failed by making the Q's in colors of literally one screen shot in DYRL. IMO, they would have sold better being in Zen Green. People would have army built them. Quote

Oh, I knew about that one, but I have such a crappy eye for detail that I just assumed it was something different. I can barely tell the difference between a Macross Plus white Valkyrie, a Macross II white Valkyrie, a Flashback Valkyrie, and all this stuff from Frontier. Maybe It's the colors, because even without having watched it, I can identify a Fire Valkyrie FYI, I have seen Original, DYRL, II, Plus, and Zero (which I didn't really enjoy, but hey) but I haven't seen 7, 7 movies, Frontier, or Frontier movies. So pretty much anything subtitles that's more then a few episodes And of course I have NOTHING against any of those series. I'm just one of those OG guys Quote
TCracker Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 seeing there will not be a Q-rare (Klang version) by either Bandai or Yamcardia, I might as well get the DYRL version as a stand in. Quote

People would have army built them. I do agree that I would have preferred the Green Q-Rau but Millia's Qrau has a ton of screen time in DYRL. And Max's Blue verision was in more than one shot and played a major role in the final fight. I think it's been said a couple of times that DYRL is more popular in Japan but to me the regular Q-Rau was an army builder and Millia's white and green power suit would have been a great follow up/recolor. In any case they should have sold a similarly sized Regult first. It's a mistake to lead off with the power armors. Quote
bhchan Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Dang it, I just got a VF-1A DYRL Max with Super Strike, so a QRau would make for an interesting 'love at first sight' combo. Sadly, neither are in their proper respective colors or variations, (VF-1A TV-Max and Green-white Q-Rau for TV version; the VF-1S for the DYRL version). (edit... it's a 1S, not a 1J... I miscounted the number of antenna ) Edited September 9, 2013 by bhchan Quote
Robowang Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 A TV version Q-Rau would be awesome, just because of the sweet eye/sensor thing. I love those on the Battlepods, too. How about the DYRL MALE armor? Those things were awesome, but I haven't even seen a model kit for them. I never liked the TV male armor. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Check my avatar That's the Yelow Submarine 1/144 Nousjadeul Ger DYRL? resin kit. I'd kill for a 1/60 Arcadia version. Quote
DarrinG Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Making a custom TV version Rau is worth it, and possible now with Kurisama's upgrade kits. I should have a nice little 1/60 accessory to go with them too. Look for some more details in early Oct... Quote

Robowang Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Man, if someone could make a custom head and feet, the Matchbox Robotech male power Armor could be a pretty decent DYRL Nousjadeul Ger. Just add paint! Kinda tempting. There's an amazing 1/100 version from some toy show a couple years ago, but it seems to be selling for $400. That's a little nuts. How big is 1/144, anyway? Like a couple inches tall? Quote

Kurisama Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Yes, that little project should be very interesting! I have a number of large projects on my list, VF-11 armour, Renegade Power armour and DYRL Nousjaduel among them. I made the 1/60 Impact cannon, as a test to gauge scale and if I could make a bona fide 'new' stand alone piece. Trust me, I want a 1/60 power armour to go with my VF-11Bs and DYRL VFs as much as u guys you just need to be patience. Quote

Kelsain Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I got about halfway through carving a new pair of legs for the matchbox N-Ger. Then I had to start packing for our move. I've also considered modding a 12" robot toy into a renegade suit. And order some of Kurisama's Q-rau kit. Now I currently have no hobby zone & a 6-week old boy. Sigh, some day... Quote

Kurisama Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Great idea! They way I've planned out out is to have the main components interchangeable between the TV, DYRL Ger and the Renegade - so you can potentially make your own Zentran poorest armour . I won't sacrifice accuracy or functionality for that tho. At the very leastmake the DYRL Ger new able to sport the TV and renegade had unit and one of the impact cannons from the TV, DYRL or Frontier. Quote
