Duymon Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 (edited) Looks like an online exclusive at the premium Bandai Hobby online shop. And there's a milia next to it. Kill those 1/72 kits with fire! Edited August 31, 2013 by Duymon Quote
Graham Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Wrong forum, this is a model kit, not a toy. Moving. Graham Quote
Hikaru1234567890 Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Man, Bandai really needs to rethink how they made these are just horrible kits. Quote
Chronocidal Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 An online exclusive model? Well then. I guess that says one of two things.. Either they want to make it really exclusive and fancy, and make them collectors items (which for a mass-produced model kit is just plain stupid and nonsensical), or they're fully aware of how much the first release is hated by so many people, and they're squeezing all they can out of the molds before giving up, only making enough to satisfy the people who will actually want them. Funny, have they even announced a Hikaru 1J yet? Actually, no, I guess this sort of makes sense.. I don't think M&M stuff is that popular in Japan, and they will need custom colored packs anyway... Which begs the question.. Why are Millia's packs the wrong freakin' color entirely?? Quote
Loop Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I actually decided to watch veef's review of the Hikaru version and I was very disappointed. It was way worse on video Quote
Vifam7 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I might get it just to have Max and Millia. Since I'm locking mine in fighter mode, I won't be bothered much by the faults. Quote
anime52k8 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 An online exclusive model? I'm amused by how perplexed you are by something they do all the time. Quote
Chronocidal Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Fair enough. I don't pay enough attention to bandai's other models anyway. Quote
anime52k8 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Fair enough. I don't pay enough attention to bandai's other models anyway. Yeah, they like releasing cool but slightly niche remolds and repaints via their webshop. It's part of there general love for making their customers suffer as much as possible. Quote
electric indigo Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Yeah, they like releasing cool but slightly niche remolds and repaints via their webshop. It's part of there general love for making their customers suffer as much as possible. This should push more people to put on their man pants and paint the models themselves. So it's actually part of a secret plan... Quote

Unless if you mean customers from overseas - who are not their target audience, and have the onus of going out of their way to acquire the merchandise... Quote

Vifam7 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Any thought of just buying the Hasegawa versions instead? Cheaper to buy and better looking proportions. I have the Hasegawa kits too. The thing is, it takes me a lot of time to build them. Sometimes I just want to slap a kit a together and get it done without having to do so much gluing, sanding, and painting. Quote
HWR MKII Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Id ratehr build teh Hasegawa kits myself...Anyone got a super/strike battroid kit they wont build? Quote

close313 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I noticed the front part of millia's super part is white. Not anime accurate, but i like the change. Quote
Chronocidal Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I don't understand a single thing about that paintscheme. Not only are half the pieces entirely the wrong color, they didn't even bother to make the TV style arm packs. Not to mention, I will never ever be able to understand why so many people put the dual reaction missile mount on the outer hardpoint... Quote
505thAirborne Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Its like Bandai teamed up with Toynami and did a few lines together, these Valk's were the end result. Quote
sketchley Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Not to mention, I will never ever be able to understand why so many people put the dual reaction missile mount on the outer hardpoint... In this case, in Battroid form it kinda makes sense - the dual missiles would interfere with the shoulder (or vice-versa). Quote
Gakken85 Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Have a feeling that if these kits are up arcadia might be putting out a m and m soon. Quote
Reïvaj Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 ave a feeling that if these kits are up arcadia might be putting out a m and m soon. Amen. Quote
modelglue Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Not to mention, I will never ever be able to understand why so many people put the dual reaction missile mount on the outer hardpoint... Just a stab in the dark here, It appears that the dual wouldn't fit on the inner hard point and might interfere wit the shoulder or possibly the intake in fighter mode? Aesthetically, it makes tonnes more sense to load it inwards. I'm with you there Chrono. modelglue Quote
SuperSenpai Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Well, it's not like the dual reaction missiles are anime accurate anyway right? I think in both the TV show and the movie, the three reaction missiles were each individually mounted. I'm assuming the toy and model convention of using a dual reaction + single reaction is to accommodate the different missile configurations -- the DYRL box missiles and TV cluster missiles were two per wing, whereas the reactions were three per wing. It was probably easier and better looking to use a dual reaction missile pack to "fake" the three missile config, instead of using three hardpoints and leaving one empty when mounting the box and cluster missiles. Also, if you want to do the movie config that uses a box missile and two reaction missiles, you'd have to put the dual reactions on the outer hardpoint. Quote
Duymon Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) Not to mention, I will never ever be able to understand why so many people put the dual reaction missile mount on the outer hardpoint... How Can you blame them? The only other config is the Micro Missile pack inner with reactions and the reactions are always outside. Besides, the two pack would force you to have have the wing out wider which might get in the way It's a compromise because no VF-1 Toy or model has had three hardpoints outside of the Hasegawas Even Yamato did it that way We'd need a proper V3 that has 3 hardpoints so we can have this in toy form (you can barely see that each missile has its own hardpoint) Edited September 24, 2013 by Duymon Quote
Chronocidal Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Oh, I know they're supposed to have more hardpoints.. but in the case of having just the six reaction missiles, I don't know why so many people put the dual on the outer point. It just rubs my sense of wing strength the wrong way (not that it matters with the material strengths in the Macross universe anyway ) Quote

I'm sure someone out there could design a Shapeways replacement wing with three hard points, plus a mounting piece so that dual reaction pack can be separated an individually mounted. Quote

They're not designed to. That said, it's a snap together plastic model. So, one can either carefully jimmy the fuselage apart to get the wings out, or (the easy option) make the modifications before initial assembly. Quote
