Gatchaman: Crowds

Discovered this the other day. I would have thought that somebody here would have mentioned it already as I am sure that a few of us would be interested in a new Gatchaman series. Not really a reboot or a remake, it is supposed to be set in the same "universe" as the original.

It's pretty out there and I don't know if I really like it yet (its 7 episodes in), but a lot of Gatchaman fanboys and girls will *HATE* it bigtime.....

To me, I think it's possible that this project did not start out as Gatchaman, but ended up morphing into it during the design phase. It has little in common with the original series.

So, its essentially in the same realm of WTF? as Aim for the Top! 2: Same reality, but nothing remotely like the original.

I made it 3 episodes before I gave up. The first episode was fine, but by the end of the 3rd i was getting annoyed.

Like Bay's TF designs, you wouldn't know what they're supposed to be without someone telling you, as they bear no resemblance to their namesake.

I thought that was a joke when saw the designs and learned it was for a Gatchaman anime. I didn't even bother giving it my time. Same goes for the live action version. Too bad we never got the American movie version. The designs weren't the best but they were better than these two recent shows from Japan.

I still don't understand why it was called Gatchaman. I enjoyed the show for what it was, but was bugged that they put the Gatchaman name on something so clearly unrelated.
