Dynaman Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Great! (OK, so perhaps I should say that over in the guilty pleasures thread but I liked both of these movies so far) Quote

Guest davidwhangchoi Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 no guilt... no thinking... i'll see it in public with a group testosterone filled of macho guys from the Reagan Administration. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 I loved the first one, but the second one really dropped the ball to me. I could hav gone without the Chuck Norris jokes, as they really took you out of the moment. Quote
Uxi Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I actually liked most of the 2nd better than the first, even though I waited for it on Netflix. I'll probably stream the third. Quote
Graham Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Loved the first movie, but hated the Chuck Norris cameo in the second, really dragged the movie down into camp comedy. Hope the 3rd movie is an improvement. Graham Quote
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 i felt the first one had the important scene with Mickey Rourke that gave the movie some depth and less characters onscreen to develop chemistry between teammates. the second lacked any depth in character development and had too many characters on screen at once hindering development of chemistry. skullmilitia Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I'm cool with anyone on the list... But Cage. He's not... Really.. Right....for...that..anything. Quote
areaseven Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 I'm cool with anyone on the list... But Cage. He's not... Really.. Right....for...that..anything. Even if he gets his head jammed in a jar filled with ? Quote
Dynaman Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I thought the Norris camp comedy is what made the second movie. Face it, these are over the hill stars getting together with some newer faces for one last hurrah (or three...). Plot and character development are not needed, Lone Wolf jokes are though! Have to agree on Cage, he was NOT an eighties action star and certainly not a newer face. If they have him as a helicopter pilot that dies off in the first five minutes that would be good though. (I forget the name of the movie I'm thinking of and it is not worth the bother of figuring it out) Quote
derex3592 Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 The Chuck Norris stuff in 2 had me falling off the couch laughing at the awesomeness of it all! Loved it. Will for sure see the 3rd ! Harrison Ford and all the rest!!?? Are you freaking kidding me??!! Quote
areaseven Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 You know who should've been approached to star in this movie series? Carl Weathers. He's worked with Sly, Ah-nuld and Dolph in the past. And admit it: you mark out every time you watch Predator and catch this scene: Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 No Jeff Speakman yet? What about Bolo Yueng as a cameo villain? Quote
Uxi Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Is Bolo Yueng still alive? He'd be pretty cool. Definitely Carl Weathers. As a bad guy doing his biggest Apollo Creed as a prick like in the beginning of Rocky II more than Dylan or Rocky III/IV Apollo. They overdid the Chuck Norris. I thought his first appearance was great but definitely shouldn't have done the last one and the second one should have been toned down. Loved the snake joke, though. Quote
renegadeleader1 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 (edited) Bolo's still around and not in bad shape for a guy pushing 70. I can't see him doing heavy lifting, but he would make a great triad boss. Edited August 24, 2013 by renegadeleader1 Quote
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 he was awesome in blood sport and enter the dragon. 2011 he was invited to surpise jean claude at a dinner by his son. Quote
areaseven Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 If that's the case, I'm all in for bringing JCVD back in the series as a Double Impact reference. And if they do bring in Bolo, they should pick up this guy as well. Quote
Uxi Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Better yet, bring back JCVD and have him be his twin brother as a tongue in cheek reference to Double Impact (also had Bolo Yeung in it). Maybe that will be Expendables 4. Quote
Dynaman Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I'll ditto Carl Weathers, he had my favorite action movie line of all time "he had a spare!" Quote

jenius Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I haven't seen Demolition Man in a long time, so I don't know how poorly it aged, but I saw it shortly after release and thought Snipes totally stole that movie. Great performance. Quote

Hoptimus Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 FYI - Jeff Speakman is currently under treatment for Throat Cancer. I am sure he would love to be a part of it when he gets better. Maybe if they do a part 4. Quote
