UN Spacy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Just what we need...another form of display stand What does this make it? The fourth type? Looks like the one that came with the YF-21 or SV-51...just slightly modified. Quote
Sandman Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm liking them including a stand. Better than trying to hunt down one of the overpriced yamato launch arms and definitely better than the paint stripping flexi-stand. Quote
Pedro2k6 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Altre foto! Release in dicember 2013....nice. Quote
technoblue Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I wonder if that means we will see the preorders for Hikaru's 1S soon? If so, it could make the end of the summer (over here) a touch more expensive. But those photos... Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 wait so the stand is grey? not clear/frosty? major bummer if so. i'm hoping thats just a grey resin prototype and not the final deco. i'd prefer at least the arm part of it to be crystal clear. was thinking icy/frosty clear might be ok. grey? no F-ing way. Quote
connor99 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I could care less really if the stand is grey, clear or black. I'm in it for the valk. I just love this particular variant. I'm just glad I've got a couple of months to save up for it. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I like it gray. I guess if its clear the housed loose parts will be visible trough the stand making it an eyesore. Quote
Loop Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I don't really care for how the gun pod barrels are basically touching the stand connection piece. This may still be another double dip for me lol. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 It appears preorders for the Hikki 1S will come soon https://twitter.com/ARCADIA_Co_Ltd/status/370022085793300480 Quote
Scyla Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Is there any difference between the DYRL? VF-1S/A besides the head. The Macross Mecha Manual shows a black canopy cover on the A but iirc the VF-1A from Yamato had also a red canopy cover. So is it possible that Arcadia includes two heads for the S and the A similar to the new Bandai kit. Or would it be impossible to swap the heads out because of the attachment to the main fuselage? (I don't have a Yamato VF-1) On the other hand that would prevent us from double dipping so I'm not sure that Arcadia wants to do that. The reason I ask is because I'm not sure if I should buy one but since I don't like the head of the A that much I could live with a squad of 3 VF-1S and 1 VF-1A. Quote
jenius Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The squadron number is different and they probably paint that on the toy. Quote
Scyla Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Ok thanks for the quick reply! Btw jenius are you planning to do a review for the Super VF-27? Quote
jenius Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Yes, and the Arcadia VF-1J. I won't be doing the Arcadia VF-1S toys though. That said, I ordered my VF-27 using SAL and don't have as much time to do reviews as I used to so it probably won't be up for like a month. Quote
Mechamaniac Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I might have missed it, but is there any difference in the actual toy or are we just expected to shell out full toy price for a nifty stand? Quote
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I might have missed it, but is there any difference in the actual toy or are we just expected to shell out full toy price for a nifty stand? The only difference is they will include waterslide decals in addition to the stand. the valk itself will be identical. Mr. K on his twitter said all future releases will have raised prices to keep their business afloat. Quote

Hoptimus Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 For that money they better have flawless shoulders and other parts. Shiieeet. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I wonder if Arcadia has somehow improved the assembly production and QC... Quote
Duymon Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) Their business won't be afloat too long if they expect us to fund them by offering the same product at an 8000 yen markup with just a stand and decals to add to the value. To put it in perspective, the VF-1 30th annis were 9800 yen. An 8000 markup on a 9800 yen product is an 81% increase in price just for the stand and decals. The VF-1J 30th I've already preordered and prepaid because it's a limited release item but I'm on the fence on these. Edited August 21, 2013 by Duymon Quote
technoblue Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) The only critique about the stand that I agree with is the one where someone pointed out that the "support" blocks the gunpod. That's a little strange given how nice the VF-1 mold looks from most angles. Leave the base alone or make it smaller--Arcadia should do what it has to do--either way the rest of the stand should get out of the way when posing the figure. That said, I'm looking forward to having option parts and waterslide decals, as these are nice extras for us late collectors. I think reconsidering the weathered paint jobs would be nice too since these seem to be limited pieces. Edited August 21, 2013 by technoblue Quote

I'm sure new collectors coming into the fray (like me) would pay this price rather than the marked up Yamato versions. It's better to have one than not have one at all. I'll just have to resign to the fact that, as long as I don't want to just by leftover Yamato Hayao's or CF's, I have to pay the new price tier. Quote
Mommar Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Yamato hasn't had shoulder problems in years. Obviously they had to increase the price to not lose money, there's nothing they can do about that, but they're including Waterslide decals and a stand, two things many people have wanted them to do to compensate for the issue. It's unfortunate, as when I started collecting I'm not sure I would have jumped at that price like I did for my $120 1A with Fast Packs, on the other hand it's not a charity. If they weren't selling at a profit then that as they say is that. Quote

Guest davidwhangchoi Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) Yamato- Bankrupt-Panic ensues-prices skyrocket-Arcadia relaunches- learns lessons -from over printing variants for a mold that become shelf warmers- very careful in future releases- fewer printing-adjusted higher prices Citation needed (?) Edited August 22, 2013 by davidwhangchoi Quote
skullmilitia Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 We don't know if that price includes Tenjin art work. If it does, then let the empty bank account year cometh. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 LOL! Considering that scalpers are selling non-30th VF-1S Hikaru for 200, the 30th for 250+ and bundled with Super parts for 300+, I can live with Arcadia's mark up. Besides, I've been begging for waterslide decals since I came back to the hobby. Quote

arrow Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 it would be cool if someone from yamato could give an account of what happened the last few month. Quote
skullmilitia Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 From info gathered, Yamato still exists just not in the same spirit. They are still making boob statues and such. Arcadia seems to be a split off of the.. Better designers. Fewer paint schemes? On more valks right? Lol Quote
Gakken85 Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Id like to see an armor parts redesign. But yeah I'm holding off on getting some until Arcadia re-issues. Quote
