I chose 1/700 scale for my scratch build SDF-1. That's a ship scale.

I can use etching parts for ship models, for this SDF-1 I used human figures only though.

It's made of cardboards, wood, plastics, etc. Kinda multi material model.

Damn son!

How big is that, exactly?

Posted

It's around 190 cm... is it about 6 feet? Human size.

You can put your hand in Daedalus and make Daedalus attack! :D

OK, that's taller than me by 9 cm. whew!

That looks awesome! Great job.

In a few years, when all this 3D printing hits the mass market pricepoint, we should design a printable version of this at about this size. It would be a collaborative effort.

The frame body transforms.

These frame parts are connected by bolts.

Each bolt doesn't hold the degrees of parts. Parts touch each other and gravity holds these degrees.

Thank you for your comment.

I'm wondering to add more details by building parts by 3D printing. And the city buildings inside, aircrafts and destroids... dreams never complete.

Nice job!!

...and welcome to the Forums!

Thank you!

and as a newcomer I didn't know a proper forum and have made another topic in artworks forum.

would you tell me how to delete a topic? I want to continue this topic and delete another one.

Here explain CVS-101 Prometheus.

On a plate of wood I made the ship body with cardboard.

As for curved surfaces, I used wall repairing putty bought at a DIY store. But it was very difficult to make smooth surfaces.

After struggling I used lacquer putty and sanded.

Body and details are made of cardboard, paper, wood and putty.

Prometheus and SDF-1 are connected by a metal item. What's the name? For fixing slide doors. It can be released.

Prometheus is made of wood if I understand?

Flight deck is cardboard. For durability under the deck there are some wooden frames.

Ship body is cardboard. Here cardbord is as is to say, well, corrugated cardboard? From a cardboard box for vegetables or so.

Wow, that's really cool. Thanks for sharing! Keep posting if you decide to detail up!

That's a great build and in a "normal" scale that is practical to get other accompannying items like aircraft and figures. Great engineering and use of common materials! Congratulations! - MT

Oh MechTech thank you your comment, and I respect your 6 feet Daedalus which is official scale for Nichimo Macross kits. It is a small scale for destroids, battroids and human, but a gigantic scale for spaceships.

Here is my current Prometheus.

In fact I have current finish for SDF-1 and Daedalus, and I'm going to post step-by-step descriptions in several timespans. But more details and inside structures are in my further construction plan.

Love it its just awesome! And how long did it take you to make Ichijyo's Valk?

Thank you for your comment.

I don't know exact length for making, about 8 days in 6 months of Prometheus project.

day 1: cut a plastic plate in a VF-1 shape

day 2: put putty on the plastic plate for a body.

put a etched human figure in the cockpit.

day 1

day 1

day 3 to 5: sand the putty and make the surface.
cut a paper into four bits for tail stabilizers.

day 4

day 8

day 6 to 8: cut a plastic rod into bits for missiles.
put clear glue on the cockpit for a canopy.
paint the base color and markings.
(It would be better to digitally print the markings on a plain decal sheet, but I didn't. When I make squadrons, I want to try it and... use a 3D printer if I can get or use one available for enough resolution...)

Now move on back to SDF-1 body.
I mentioned that the body has wooden frames inside. I put cardboard parts on each frame. These cardboards are from cardboard boxes for vegetables or so, you can get them at supermarkets or you may get too much boxes including presents sent from your family. :D Just use them. You should not trash them and should not buy them. You have to use huge amount of glue though. :o

3 mm etched Mimmay is in the bridge. I can't see her face. In near future we should construct such figures with digital micro-printing technology.

DSC01055

The metal materials on the bridge is not etched parts, they might be laser cut parts from metal construction kits of the empire state building or so.

On the breast there are egg packages as rocket boosters.

I have not built inside mechanics, there bare cardbords are seen. It'll be a long way to build the city, structures in Daedalus, destroids and so on.

You may want make Daedalus attack.

Hello, thank you for your views and comments.

I attended to FabLab last year, planning to build 1/700 mechs by 3D printer, not achieved though.

Today I published a movie on YouTube.

Tried a projection of landscape by a projector.

I should make a projection mapping on SDF-1, like barrier system, pin-point barrier, Macross cannon launch and...

Many dreams but I'll do step by step.

I started to build the town in SDF-1.

As a beginning I made the landscape roughly by a cardboard and a polystylene board.

Town landscape in SDF-1

The center road goes through the knee of SDF-1.

Town landscape in SDF-1; highways and a park

A road ahead to the knee of SDF-1

Trying to make the landscape transform. As SDF-1 stretches the knee, the road and buildings crash.

Transformation makes the road und buildings crash.
