Beltane70 Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Heh, I can see subbing two red mages for a white mage... But to use just a person with white mage as their subjob is just plain crazy! I had the shortest party membership today. I was in a party for a mere 30 seconds only to be kicked without any explanation. My only guess was that my level (19) was too high. I finally reached lvl 20, buit still don't have a subjob. None of the parties I was in fought any ghouls. I've spent almost a full week trying to get a magicked skull, the one item I still need. I nver thought it would be this hard At least I have no problems finding parties. Being a red mage does have some advantages. As Abombz!! and Vostok 7 said, Valkurm is a good place to party. Quote

I've spent almost a full week trying to get a magicked skull, the one item I still need. I nver thought it would be this hard It really isn't, you just gotta know where to go. Get a party and head to the NW corner of Valkurm from approx. 2200 to 400... This is the corner where the beach for the second part of the Bard quest is. There's at least 2 - 3 ghouls that spawn in this area, usually only toughs or decents. Another area is J-6 and J-7 in Valkurm, but you have to kill bats to get the ghouls to spawn. And finally, there's the Gusgen Mines, but I wouldn't go there with out some really high level support. I made it to Jeuno. It really wasn't as hard as people make it out to be ( ) and I'm about 3/4 of the way through the chocobo quest. There's some pretty amazing stuff around Jeuno... It's nice having a change of scenery. And it sucks because I'm totally broke. Once I get my chocobo I guess I'm gonna have to go farming. I'm shocked and amazed how many ~lvl 20 n00bies there are. And how they got to Jeuno blows my mind. Vostok 7 Quote
Yohsho Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 They made it like me, pure and utter luck! The only reason I made it the first time and I"ll never try to walk there again unless I"m megapowerfull and nothing will tempt to aggro me. Quote
Abombz!! Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 The best place to party between 17 to 20 is the Korroloka tunnel. Anyone heard anything about FF Crystal Chronicles (for the Gamecube) ? Just wondering if I should bother pre-ordering this one. If it makes any difference, both EB and Gamestop are giving free GBA/GC link cables to those who pre-order. What think? Anyone have any news, screeens, or opinions for this game? Thanks in advance! If you have a few ppl to play with you..... get the game. Its a great multiplayer experience. Now, if you plan on playing the game alone, I have to warn you that the game won't be nearly as fun. Playing with 4 ppl is the main attraction of the game, it has no plot at all. Its looks great, and its fun when you have 3 other ppl playing with you. Quote
Vostok 7 Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 The best place to party between 17 to 20 is the Korroloka tunnel. Gee thanks for telling me NOW after it took me so long to get from 18 to 20 The easiest levels to party in the dunes seem to be the lower end (10-15) and then again in the higher levels (18-20). In between seems tough, though there's not many low levels either. Yoh, I think your bro is pissed at me... I spent all the time he and I were on last night bragging about how I was in Jeuno and then had my Chocobo I told him "Hey, I had to hear it from both Abombz!! and your brother" so I know exactly how he felt Vostok 7 Quote

Do you have your advanced classes yet? Do you have the keys to reach Kazham yet? No? Well.... I don't see where you stand to brag about anything. Yohsho Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Ha ha, try to look all special and get knocked down. I guess if your first and second to do something it kinda makes you special. So all we have to do is get DT up to lvl20, get him a chocobo. Then we're all off to do that emissary mission. Hey imode when you say put the dragon to sleep then kill one eyeball then the other, are these on the dragon or like a whole seperate enemy? Planning something here. And NO I have gotten a advance job yet as I want to do the mission first and then get to lvl30 to try for PAL. Although I do have the first item for it. Quote
Vostok 7 Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 (edited) See? Thats my point... You guys BOTH bragged to me up and down about how cool Jeuno was and when you got your chocobo and stuff... Then, I get one, brag about it to ONE person, and suddenly I just suck. I can never win. Story of my life. I told your bro to get to 20 asap and that I'd help him get to Jeuno when he did (and I actually will which is more than I got from any of you two after all your promises ) but he's focusing on lvling MNK for his subjob at the moment. I got killed twice in Jeuno last night Once in Qufim and once in the area just before Jeuno on the San d'Oria side because I was with the person I came up with and they wanted to kill things so we got one other guy and I kept saying take toughs, but they brought this VT Ba and we all ended up getting killed Good thing I had gotten to like 1900xp in Qufim before dying... Abombz!! And NO I have gotten a advance job yet as I want to do the mission first and then get to lvl30 to try for PAL. Although I do have the first item for it. Warning..... on the dragon.... sleep has a 1% of chance of hitting the dragon. Its good to have the ugly thing sleeping.... but if you miss.... it won't let go of you, and I mean benediction lv hate. Don't expect to beat it with 3 ppl. You need a full party for this mission, either 6 average players, 5 good players, or 4 awsome players. Do not expect to beat the dragon at lv20, so get your act together and reach lv25, at least, and get yourself a lv35 to 40 whm to tag along. Why? I will explain next.... I did the mission with 4 other ppl, and what we did was, I provoked the dragon, used defender on myself (I also had protect II on me and several other buffs), and kept hitting hit and getting hit while the rest of the party went to attack the Searcher (how many there are? Not sure. I could only see 1). The searcher went down in a couple of seconds, while the dragon lasted 3 whole minutes. It died just as we were about to start a skill chain, and just as our whm ran out of mp. One of our tanks got hit by the dragons curse. His hp was decreased by 90%, and this is the reason why you need a high whm... so you can get cursena(sp) cast on the afflicted member (it won't go away unless you die). The fight happens in a battle field... so you have to fight both at the same time. A lv20 rdm will not be able to fully replace a whm in this case.... so get at least 2 tanks, 2 attackers, 1 blm and 1 whm. On a funny note... our blm did not cast any spells.... he meleed the dragons candy ass. P.S. you have all the items necessary for the pally quest... the second item requires you to go to a cave and grab a player specific item. Edited January 26, 2004 by Abombz!! Quote

It wasn't half as bad of a trip as Abombz!! made it seem We've got four to do the Emissary mission btw. You, your bro, myself and a lvl 20 THF / 10 RDM. So we'd need a BLM and a good WHM. Things around Jeuno? Bad idea!! Specially at lv20. A lv30 would be easily raped by someone the mobs that like to hang around the city. You are much better off in Qufim. And you guys know the big tower in Qufim? Thats the last rank3 mission.... you have to climb 10 floors of nothing but gobs, bats and giants. Quote

Yohsho Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 You know me, I went there thru the Bastok side. I think you've heard my story Marshlands running along the edge, got aggro 2 times, killed 1 ran from the other. Walked by a lightening elemental. Rolanberry, ran with Sneak cast on me until almost at the end then a nice little taru dragoon pointed to where Jueno was cause I got lost. Jump looks funny with taru I might add. Quote

Got pwned 3 times in a row (DAMN YOU SLEEP SPELL), but I had the most fun I've ever had in that game for awhile now. Can't wait to get pwned some more next weekend! Btw, high chocobo cost = high rental amounts. The more people running about on chickens, the more it will cost. *edit--Ahh, one more thing. If youre going to try sleep the dragon, make sure your blm casts elemental seal before casting sleep. With it, you're almost guaranteed to sleep him. Without it, you're just wasting MP. **editx2--My handle in FFXI is Imode. You can add me to friendlist if you want, and I can answer any questions you might have while playing. Yohsho Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 I had a map. Odds are I wouldn't pull it out to check in the middle of an area full of monsters that would turn me into a pile of Elvaan goo. Pulled it out at the start of the area, remembered the path I wanted to follow and ran it. I have to say I have a pretty good idea where I'm going sometimes. Quote
Abombz!! Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 Walking from Windurst to Jeuno is the easiest way. I wasn't aware of being able to reach Jeuno from Sandoria. I always do Sandoria, Latheine, Valkurm, Highlands, Passhow, Rolanberry and Jeuno. As far as walking.... I had someone who still con IT from creatures in Passhow and Rolanberry, and we got agroed by a pansy Quad that got killing in a few strikes. Errr.... BCNM40? Quote
Vostok 7 Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 (edited) Yeah you can get there from San d'Oria and it's way shorter than going the way you did... That's an awful long walk... You go La Thein to Junger Forest (sp?), to some "hollow" place (can't remember the name off the top of my head) then to Jeuno... La Thein is just the San d'Orian version of the Highlands, and as such, there's a San d'Orian version of the Pashow. Really, the setup of Vana'diel is really simple. Jeuno is the center, and there's three arms that are basically the exact same of each other, with one exception... Only San d'Oria and Bastok are directly connected. Windhurst isn't connected like they are. meh, I can't make a map thing... Jeuno --> Windhurst, Bastok, San d'Oria Windhurst --> Jeuno, Selbina (centerpoint to San d'Oria and Bastok) Bastok --> Jeuno, San d'Oria San d'Oria --> Jeuno, Bastok Each country has 2 close in zones, 1 farther zone, and 1 "centerpoint" zone... IE Bastok, South Gustaburg, North Gustaburg, Highlands, Selbina. Jeuno has 2 zones in each direction, IE, Rolandberry and Pashow Meadows. Vostok 7 Edited January 26, 2004 by Vostok 7 Quote

Really??!?!?!?! <_< Well... I didn't know where the short cut was. Theres a short cut to Jeuno from Windurst too... I don't know if theres one from bastok to Jeuno. As far as Jugner goes.... I wouldn't walk alone in there. I was helping a whm friend of mine do a quest... and I saw mobs that ranged from easy (gob), to decent challenges (orcs and leeches) to ITs (treants and tigers). And besides... thats where you do the Paly quest. Its around the lv of Passhow. Quote

Effect Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 I didn't think FFXI had that many zones. Very nice. Then again I had such a hard time finding groups the Valkrum Dunes due to the times I played. Either I'd get a group and not long after that it would break up or I would have to constantly search the zone for people of similar levels and politely tell them to see if they were in a group and ask to add me to a waiting list. By the time their was room, 2 hours later I wa so burnt that I needed to log. Oh well I really would have have wished to check out more of the game. I think the furtherest I've been had to be La Theine and that was only because I was being chanced by a gob and I had to zone. The highest level I got was lvl 15 I think. I didn't have the patiance needed for this game, among other things which were in my previous posts in this thread. I'm glad to hear others are still enjoying the game . I love reading about your accomplishments. Quote
Beltane70 Posted January 27, 2004 Posted January 27, 2004 By some miracle I made it through the Jugner Forest (and eventually) Jeuno)at lvl 14 without getting killed. Jeuno is quite an amazing city. I don't know if this appllies to other servers, but I found on Ifrit that Jeuno is populated mostly by Japanese players. Getting back to San d'Oria through Jugner was a different story,a s I wound up dying and losing a lvl To make it worse, my homepoint was set in the beginning of the forest, makingg me have to go through the entire region again. Luckily, two players were kind enough to escort me safely through the forest to the La Thiene Plateau. Quote
