Hikuro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 So I wonder what happened to his son, will he be in the movie, overshadowed by the story of his heroic father? think he's the black guy we see in the trailer...I think. But hey at least they did take the time to write off smiths character that's not done to often in film. Quote
taksraven Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 The only original cast member who doesn't seemed to have aged a day is Judd Hirsch. LOL!!! Quote
electric indigo Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Love the Sukhoi x YF-23 Fighters Quote
mechaninac Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 ^ Can't wait for the kits, maybe even toys, of this fighter to be released; although, I don't like the grafted "alien tech" under-wing glow-y boxes... they're too bulky, do not match the aesthetic of the craft, and break up the sleekness of the fighter way too much, but with a kit they can be easily omitted. But who knows, seeing them in action and context may yet change my mind. Quote
myk Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 They look like Transformer jet toys with the typical kibble underneath... Quote
Mr March Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I've long since discarded the rose-colored glasses through which I used to gaze at ID4, divorced from the nostalgia that tried carrying that lousy film for over a decade now. So to me, this sequel trailer seems like a very typical Hollywood blockbuster without much to distinguish it. I'm not really feeling it. However, I will say that it didn't look awful. The trailer is actually better than a ID sequel has any right to be. I suppose that's saying something. Quote
Thom Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Yeah, the alien tech is really something that turns me off about the fighter. Sleek and beautiful otherwise. Have to see how it works on film. I kept hoping they were retractable in some way. If they make a kit, I'll have to see about integrating them somehow so they're not so obnoxious hanging out there. Really ruins the lines! But the movie looks good. Or as good as a sequel to ID4 can be at any rate. And did anyone else notice that that was Washington DC being scooped up by a big alien 'shovel...' I'll be going to watch! Edited December 14, 2015 by Thom Quote
TangledThorns Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Of all the trailers released this past week this one is my favorite. Quote
F360 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 So it's also a live macross movie without the transforming valkyries. Quote
azrael Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 So it's also a live macross movie without the transforming valkyries. And still coming out before a Robotech movie. Quote
areaseven Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 And still coming out before a Robotech movie. Robotech? What's that? Quote
anime52k8 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 So it's also a live macross movie without the transforming valkyries. Maybe it's wishfull thinking, but the hybrid fighter reminds me of the F-203 Dragon II. Quote
sh9000 Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 We just saw the trailer and both think it looks good. Quote
Mr March Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Maybe a little of the VF-19 Nothung too? Quote
mustang1 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Hi all, just wanted to give you my thoughts on the Independence Day official trailer . I put in a shout out to Macross see if you can spot it 😉 Enjoy Quote
spanner Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 We just saw the trailer and both think it looks good. agreed! I don't mind it at all actually! looking forward to seeing it. Quote
big F Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 My expectations are quietly optimistic about this. Quote
Nazareno2012 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 For me the fighters look like the VF-31A with the nose of the VF-19. Quote
Jefuemon Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 "They like to get the landmarks" Nice to know that the writers can poke fun at themselves. Quote
areaseven Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 How is spiner in this movie?! He died! I think it's implied that the alien just wrapped its tentacle on his neck to communicate with the President and didn't strangle him. Or they might use the twin brother trope just like every other sci-fi film. Quote

It's STNG thing, makes more sense but he was clearly dead, pulse was even checked by a area 51 guy who gave the he's dead Jim look. Edited April 23, 2016 by Hikuro Quote
areaseven Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) I went and rewatched this scene: Yes, the new film should explain how Dr. Okun survived this ordeal if he was confirmed dead. Furthermore, if the lab windows were not bulletproof, why didn't the alien attempt to break them in the first place instead of this long exposition? Edited April 23, 2016 by areaseven Quote
big F Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Handy tips there from director Levenstine, although I'm guessing most people will want to just take option four, as it can help solve options 1-3 Quote
sh9000 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Brent Spiner explains. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/brent-spiner-explains-how-his-1412050054438966.html Quote

That movie, probably more so than most others, is one where the viewer should just go to the flow. There's no real need to waste energy on deep thoughts. Quote
TangledThorns Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) Not the first time a character was brought back from the dead. Good example is Ian Malcolm in the Jurassic Park books. Which interestingly is Jeff Goldblum's character in the movies. Must be a conspiracy Edited April 23, 2016 by TangledThorns Quote
