HLJ's sale was able to persuade the wife to buy one for me. Thank you HLJ.

This opened up a great opportunity. Just preordered mine as well with this price.

Calls it "T-2" = test shot, 2nd one came from the factory to go through inspection tomorrow and see the correction/improvements from "T-1" (There is no spare time to write a blog)

The intake lip looks thicker!

Test shot looks good to me, I just can't wait to see some shots in color and in different angles.

I think it looks great, but if you stick it right next to the line-art there are still going to be people who don't like/want it because there's obvious deviations.

I think they have found the balance between fighter and battroid mode despite the thickness in that area.

The line art is basically just a result of anime magic with tear drop shape intake in battroid, but VF-1 style intake in fighter mode.

There are but we should just accept that this is as close that we can get to a good representation of the YF-19 as possible due to the anime magic involved in it.

Like Vi-RS said, we have a good balance as it is. If you can overlook that one/two deviations, everything else is pretty looking.

All I said was some people aren't going to like it still. Really, when the last YF-19 came out and it had that ridiculous Turkey Waddle people said "it's the best we can get" and it turned out not to be the case. Anybody who doesn't like this now could still be correct.

Looking at the line-art some more (for curiosity, not nit-picking), the intakes in fighter are so impossibly close together the shield/legs in back would never work and the wing roots would never be able to transform the way they do. I do still think reusing the same crotch piece as the VF-19 series is a mistake however, as that part isn't shaped the same on the YF-19, however they still would have to take liberties with the transformation as that part is also impossible to shape correct in both modes without some sort of malleable material that doesn't exist.

The squared off intakes actually kind of compliment the more square/blocky styled shoulders up top IMO.

Yeah, true. You never know what kind of engineering we'll get in the future.

Looking at the intake over and over again, it really isn't that bad. Looks quite good actually :p

wow you really can't take any time off this board or hobby....was busy black friday doing other stuff and missed out on the change to save like $30 basically (hlj cancel and reorder on black friday). **must check MW daily minimally, adds to daily ritual**

That new test shot looks great. i'm sure people will complain as usual but for better or worse this is the state of the ART...and that is what this is...an artistic decision to strive for a compromise between the two modes. As far as engineering....no new developments have been made in toy engineering recently really. Its all about what the team decides is the best direction and how much they want to spend making it etc. The engineering will fall in line with those decisions and be figured out. The end product will be a result of what arcadia decides on and what it is willing to do/spend to get their ROI in line with their expectations. Mini rant....every time I hear about "Advancements in toy engineering" on a toy forum i cringe a little bit....people actually think that this very same thing we will be getting in 2014 couldn't have been engineered in what was it.....2008 or so is kind of naive (or even the late 90's truth be told). Everything just depends on what the design team is willing to pursue and take on vs. when is it "good enough". As fans have gotten more demanding...companies have had to take on more - its as simple as that.

Actually, new method can greatly affect how easily toys (anything, really) can be engineered. Possibly it could have been done in the 90's, but at what cost? Considering the 1/72 and the first iteration 1/60 weren't nearly this good could it REALLY have been done? Digital cameras have been around since the moon landing in the early 70's, but could it be done at any sort of cost effect price? No. It took further engineering across multiple disciplines before it became practical/cost-effective to market a digital camera to mass consumers. So there could be further advancements in materials, manufacturing, design, software, etc... that could change many things, and could address problems people have now.

You never know what can be achieved. Advancements can be unpredictable. What we thought could never be achieved have proven us wrong many times. All these advancements may make things much easier and more cost-efficient which in turn benefits us, consumers.

Although we treasure these things so...there really is nothing that advanced or special in making anything that goes into one of these valks. The design software people use is marginally better. Plastic injection molding etc. hasn't changed that much. Cost is really the only thing that really changed a lot in 20 years due to outsourcing of mold making/molding to lower cost countries etc. Even that hasn't really changed for the better in the time since the last yf-19 came out. everythign is really about direction, time, money, market pressure.

That's what I thought too... taken in isolation, I think it looks worst. However everything else looks better (except for the glossy finish).
