Valkyrie addict Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 LOL... well, the Arcadia scheme matched perfectly with the kit kat I had in there Quote
Loop Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I also love freezing my chocolate covered anything . Quote
troyness Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Damn!! Puttin' toys in the fridge, there's some crazy sh#t going on in this thread I LIKE IT. Thanks for the review Valkyrie addict!! Love the grey goggles and the black side covers. I hope the pilot seat goes back to tan on the TV releases if any. Quote
technoblue Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Nice photos Valkyrie addict! That translucent gold-ish canopy is mighty fine. And although it was already said, I really, really like the kite effect in fighter mode. Hm, do I really need this or should I wait for a TV accurate scheme? Decisions, decisions... Quote
derex3592 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Valk straight up IN the freezer! HAHAHAHAHA...God I needed a laugh tonight. THanks! Mmmmmm....Kit Kat.... Quote
master of macross Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 my 3 copy of 30° and second of vf27 Quote
Mommar Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Wow, what are you going to do with 3 30th Anniversary valks? Quote
TCracker Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 he is the master of macross. to him multiples is a must for displaying them in all 3 modes. Quote
charger69 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 If you declare yourself as the master of macross, you should buy 30 of 30th anni. VF-1J, am I wrong? Quote
bhchan Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 or at least 5 of them, 1 in each mode + 1 in super/striker pack (customized with similar anniv. stylings) + 1 in GBP (also customized in similar anniv. stylings) Quote
Mommar Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I think bhchan is suddenly making a run for "master" now. Quote
SuperSenpai Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Yes, but if you are taking "canonical" configurations into account, you would really need much less right? Like Hikaru's 1J was never seen with super parts, so you'd only need three for each mode plus one for GBP. Quote
Mommar Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Yes, but if you are taking "canonical" configurations into account, you would really need much less right? Like Hikaru's 1J was never seen with super parts, so you'd only need three for each mode plus one for GBP. The 30th Anniversary scheme is already not canonical so all of that other stuff goes out the window. Quote
Jasonc Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Glad to hear the leg connector is not plastic. I wouldn't expect it to be though. Maybe it's just a different paint that gave it the different feel. In either case, I'm really starting to like mine. Not sure why. It's still an assault on the rods and cones in my eyeballs, but despite the Studio 54gasm that's going on with it, it does breathe celebration life into it. Quote
bhchan Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 despite the Studio 54gasm that's going on with it, it does breathe celebration life into it. someone should custom repaint it with fluorescent or glow-in-the-dark paint Quote
Jasonc Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 someone should custom repaint it with fluorescent or glow-in-the-dark paint Hahaha, definitely won't be me. Quote
recon Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 Still not be drawn to the paint scheme to consider getting one, but however if a minmay guard or paris moon act 30th Ann was produced, i would be all over it Quote
master of macross Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 yes 3x for multiples is a must for displaying them in all 3 modes, but I was born in 1982, I just need this to be the same age as macross;) 30 models would be too many ahahahhaha Quote
jenius Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I finally started handling my 30th VF-1J. Even after all these years the V2 is still a great toy. The fit, finish, and paint job are superb. I hate to go against the freezer technique but I'm pretty sure that T-bar is POM, not metal. I'll be pulling out one of my old Yammies soon to double check but I wouldn't be worried, if anything I think it's a durability improvement. The metal bar was prone to scraping and it never seemed like it was under enough pressure to break. Quote
Loop Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 (edited) Mine is still trapped in it's prison. I never really had any problems with the die-cast swing bar. Has anyone tried to weight this version vs one of the older Yamato v2 1J's just to see if the weight differs? That would most likely answer the POM vs Die-cast question. I do agree though that it was never under enough pressure if any at all to crack. Edited September 22, 2013 by Loop Quote
Rusty Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 The Carnivalk!!! In reference at the colored scheme, But it looks fine and other order te box design it's great!!! At last an style in line with the product with in. Quote
ChaoticYeti Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Anymoon, gonna do a youtube for this? Quote
SuperSenpai Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Jenius, are you planning on doing a standalone review for the Arcadia valk, or will there be an update to the existing v2 review? Quote
jenius Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I haven't decided what to do video-wise yet, I'm sure I'll do something but I might wait for the Arcadia vf1S Focker to really go video crazy. Quote
Gakken85 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 POM probably won't paint chip as badly as metal too. Quote
Mechapilot77 Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I haven't unboxed mine yet but, if its painted...it ain't POM. POM aka acetal, aka delrin pretty much can't really be painted. amont affordable materials its one grade away from teflon in terms of being relativcely fricitionless. yes there are many grades of POM but i doubt there is one that is good to paint, so like i said if there is paint on that bar, it ain't POM. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I agree it can't be POM. Haven't received mine yet, but I'm sure it's a flat painted metal bar. If it was black cast POM it should bend a little. Quote
jenius Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I'll be interested to hear your opinion when you have one in hand. Quote
Ignacio Ocamica Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I'll be interested to hear your opinion when you have one in hand. It's very interesting that you believe it's POM, you are very versed when it comes to these toys. Although POM is very strong I still want the bar to be metal. The whole bar system feels like POM? I mean the T-bar that goes into the nosecone but also the bar that connects the fuselage/back plate? Quote
jenius Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I may be wrong, I'll be looking at it much more closely after I get my vf27 toys put away. Quote
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I may be wrong, I'll be looking at it much more closely after I get my vf27 toys put away. if you put a kitkat next to it, it'll help reveal the material Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 hehehe, someone should ask MrK about it. Quote
Valkyrie addict Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Finished with all the decals on this bird. Also added the standard VF marking decals. The 30th anniversary logo on the fuselage and forearms need to be cut to allow transformation, otherwise you lock it in fighter mode and if you try to transform will destroy the decal, the fuselage decal was a pain to cut and fit. You also need to apply a LOT of decal softener. In case anyone is wondering, I've transform this things over a dozen times and all the tampo is pristine. Sorry that some pics came out a bit grainy and washed out, don't know what happened to my ISO settings, realized after I passed the pics to the pc and had put everything away, too lazy to reshoot. Quote
alchemo Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I also decaled mine over the weekend. Messed up a bit on the big 30 anniversary logo. Quote
