Certain things were left open ended, which I liked, but I do have some critiques. I like that they left Ezra and Thrawn's fates open ended. They needed to kill off more characters. Why can they not kill off a certain character who should have died during Clone Wars to signal the beginning of Anakin's Fall? Inter-species breeding? Come on. This is something in sci-fi that has always bugged me and until now has never been canon in SW. So time to speculate on the next animated series: 1) An original trilogy era story following the rest of the rebellion (Rogue Squadron *crosses fingers*) 2) Sabine and Ahsoka searching for Ezra and creating a link to the new trilogy. If they do this, then Thrawn had better be alive too. I guess we're not doing spoilers? Lol, well, I avoided this thread until I watched the finale, hope others have done the same The one you hope to be alive is confirmed to be alive by Dave Filoni. He left them alive because the direction they want to take with these characters is uncertain and he didn't want to seal the deal with them yet. I liked the ending as well, though I felt that the season could have been just a bit longer. As for the interracial breeding, I'm trying to figure out when they shagged. I guess their first on screen kiss wasn't their first kiss? Quote

Did she just hang out there for the duration. Spoiler In the World Between Worlds episode, Ezra tells Ahsoka "When you get back, come and find me!" We all kinda figured that she'd take a while, or knew better than to interject herself before the events of the episode, and maybe show up for the final battle of the show. It seems that Ezra knew in advance that he would be lost somewhere - he did basically task Sabine with the same thing after all. Who knows how long Ahsoka took to find her way off of Malachor? Also, if we look at the card that Dave Filoni drew a couple years ago, maybe Ashoka went back through the Lothal temple at some point? Maybe that's not the end of the series of images and should be at the halfway point? So basically, maybe it took her a long time to get back from Malachor. Perhaps not until after ROTJ. Obviously, she made it back and connected with the Alliance at some point, cuz she got a sweet old Jedi shuttle & and X-wing escort back to Lothal. Maybe she battled on other fronts, knowing that it wasn't her destiny to defeat Vader. And now that she's "gotten back" to Lothal, it's time to go find Ezra. Edited March 7, 2018 by Kelsain Quote

Roy Focker Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 Good ending for a cartoon but doesn't make sense if it is part of Star Wars as a whole. 1. Was nice to team them up with all their allies from the past. I too think more character's should die as the first step of Ezra plan was risky one that could easily lead to some rebels getting killed. 2. So our heroes committed mass murder? Blowing up fully crewed Death Stars is one thing. Those are weapons of mass destruction. If Luke had to fire or Yavin would be destroyed. In this cartoon the heroes trapped all the Imperials in one place and then blew them up? It looked they were capable of kicking them off the planet. 3. Why is the Emperor still so confident in his dealing with Luke Skywalker when he failed to best Ezra? You'd think he remember that time one a couple years ago when he was bested by that other teenager. 4. Why do they need "hope" and the think of the Jedi like a myth in Rogue One and Episode IV? Don't they remember that time last year when Rebels on liberated their planet against incredible odds and had all those adventures with light saber carrying force users? Did Ezra's gang heroics fail to inspire anyone outside of that one planet? Quote

The Rebellion already declared Lothal a lost cause after they lost a squadron of fighters to clear the airspace. Lothal was on it's own after the Rebellion tried to liberate the planet. The Rebellion lost most of the ships in the Lothal system after Thrawn blew up the Rebel base at the end of Season 3. Quote
mechaninac Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 couldn't find the Rebels thread so I figured this was a good place to post this positive tidbit of possible news... Quote
Chronocidal Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 (edited) Really nice how TRoS pre-spoilered everyone for this. I haven't followed much of the animated series, but if we're getting any New Republic era content, the only thing I really want to see is some kind of assimilation/adaptation of the X-Wing and Rogue Squadron books, and maybe the comics. The majority of those books could easily still fit in the new canon with minor modifications, and I would love to see some Wedge/Janson/Tycho/Hobbie shenanigans in this format. Seriously, all I want is to see Lieutenant Kettch in some format. Edited February 18, 2020 by Chronocidal Quote
