SPECTRE, aka, Bond 24

EON Productions is currently working on SPECTRE, the 24th James Bond 007 film. Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Jarhead) will return to the director's chair to follow his successful stint in Skyfall. This will be Daniel Craig's fourth appearance as James Bond.

Also confirmed to reprise their roles from Skyfall are the following:

• Ralph Fiennes (Amon Göth in Schindler's List, Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter) as M
• Naomie Harris (Selena in 28 Days Later, TIa Dalma/Calypso in Pirates of the Caribbean) as Miss Moneypenny
• Ben Whishaw (Paddington, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) as Q
• Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner

In addition, Jesper Christensen reprises his role as Mr. White from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

And here's the guest cast for this film:

• Christophe Waltz (Benjamin in The Green Hornet, Leatherhead in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2) as Franz Oberhauser
• Léa Seydoux (Charlotte in Inglourious Basterds, Sabine in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) as Madeleine Swann
• Monica Bellucci (Sylvia in Brotherhood of the Wolf, Persephone in The Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions) as Lucia Sciarra
• Andrew Scott (Moriarty in Sherlock) as Denbigh
• Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, Brass Body in The Man with the Iron Fists) as Mr. Hinx

The screenplay is by Neil Purvis & Robert Wade (all James Bond 007 films from 1999 onwards), and John Logan (Gladiator, Hugo) - the trio behind Skyfall. Thomas Newman (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) also returns to compose the score.

SPECTRE hits theaters on November 6, 2015.

I think Pierce fit the role of the suave and daring English super-spy better than Craig does, however Craig is a fine Bond in his own right. I think both are leagues beyond Connery's Bond; I don't think I'll ever understand what was so great about his particular Bond...

I liked Pierce Brosnan as bond, I think he's a good actor and he fit the role well, it's just that he was saddled with some of the worst scripts ever. Craig plays a completely different type of bond from any of the previous incarnations of the character and he plays it perfectly.

Yeah if by playing it perfectly means a drug addicted raging alcholic that can't hit crap with a gun unless the person is sitting at a desk two feet across from him, and manages to get EVERYONE under his protection killed(including his boss) while being both too new to the job AND too old for this crap at the same time. Yeah, but who cares about that stuff when look OMG six pack abs and gay innuendo!

Well, you can't blame Craig for the writing, or the innuendo. Writers are the cause of those ills.

As for new guy to burnt out, the first movie was Craig had him as the new guy, this one was released 6 years later and the actor has aged, even though we have only seen 3 total movies in that time a "real" person in that amount of time doing that amount of crazy spy stuff would get burnt out. I think the main problem was that Craig looked too old to be "the new guy" back in 2006 to begin with. (he doesn't look old but he never had that fresh faced kid look)

i like Brosnan's Bond too, but the scripts in his movies didn't really present a lot of opportunities to showcase the ruthless streak of Fleming's Bond. Connery had some of those opportunities (at least with his earlier Bond films) and to some degree, Dalton had those moments as well.

Not really, I have no intention of ever reading the Bond books, may be heresy to some but I don't care. Anyway, picking the perfect Bond is like choosing the best Doctor Who.

It should also be noted that Connery's performance as Bond influenced Flemming's approach to the character in the later Bond novels.

On a side note, I always thought Dalton's Bond was under-appreciated.

I think every actor has played Bond in their own way and they all have some merit and some down sides. I honestly don't dislike any of the Bonds. Dalton seems to take the most flak these days. He was definitely more sardonic then the rest.

I tend to avoid topics that aren't Macross or space related stuff here. But I can't believe anyone that's a Bond fan or movie fan wouldn't like Connery's Bond. That's crazy. Connery's Bond films with the exception of a few (DAF, NSNA, and some argue YOLT) are still the ones to beat. I've seen some say that Daniel Craig still hasn't really played Bond yet. Remember Casino Royale was the origin of his Bond. He was supposed to be Bond at the end. Yet in Quantum of Solace he is kind of on a revenge mission and not really Bond. Some see Quantum of Solace as a two part with Casino Royale ending with the full formation of Daniel Craig's Bond. But then in Skyfall, he starts as Bond and once again goes to something else. Only at the end to we see him as Bond in M's office like the vintage Bond films. But what will happen in the next movie? At this point, even though I like Daniel Craig's films, Casino Royale being the best and closest to a real Bond movie. His Bond is kind of an alternate universe Bond like the new Star Trek. Both are reboots and use stuff from the past movies to say, yes you are watching a Bond movie. But in many ways they don't make a strong statement of their own. You can't say that about the Bond films ending with The World is not Enough. I don't include Die Another Day because that's the film that started all the references to past Bond films.

Dalton wanted and played it as close to the books as the people in charge would let him. Remember coming off the Roger Moore Bond films I think people thought Dalton was far too serious. Dalton got to smoke too.

it's really a shame that the franchises' legal troubles coincided with Dalton's tenure. from what i heard, the treatment for his 3rd movie was actually pretty far along.

i can understand Dalton being daunted to take on Bond immediately after Connery and being only 25 years old, but it's just tragic that when he felt ready to do For Your Eyes Only, Moore decides to exercise his contractual option to extend his tenure.

i grew up on Moore's Bond and at one point thought Moonraker was the best ever (in my defense, i was but a kid), and fell asleep when my Dad was watching Connery. It was Dalton's Living Daylights which made me re-watch and appreciate the Connery films, and from there, started reading the Fleming novels.

I had a Bond marathon, watching all the films before watching Skyfall, and I have to say that I'm pretty happy with Craig's Bond. When I was a kid, I grew up on Moore, and as some else said, I snored when my dad watched the Connery films, but as an adult looking back, my views reversed and I now like Connery's Bond over Moore's. The Moore films started getting a bit outrageous and I started to realize I could only like them as a child. Brosnan's Bond was good, and it started out a bit darker and grittier, almost believable, but then stories themselves just got too over the top. I just hope that the Craig films don't start going the same way.

This Just In: Sam Mendes will return to the director's chair for Bond 24, which has been slated for a 2015 release (October 23 in the UK and November 6 in the U.S.). John Logan (The Time Machine, Star Trek: Nemesis), who co-wrote Skyfall, will also return to pen the new screenplay.
