areaseven Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 So this is what you get when you mix Men in Black with Ghostbusters. R.I.P.D. is a 3D supernatural action film based on the Dark Horse Comics series Rest in Peace Department by Peter M. Lenkov (Demoliton Man, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever). The film is directed by Robert Schwentke (Red, Flightplan) and stars Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon and Mary-Louise Parker. R.I.P.D. hits theaters on July 19. R.I.P.D. @ IMDb Quote

EXO Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Lonely Soldier Boy from these forums illustrated some of the comic books that this was based on. Quote
DarrinG Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Well I'm a HUGE LSB fan - so I will have to check out his work on it! I am not the target market for this kind of movie as I never even saw MIB... Quote
EXO Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I recommend LSB's work on Star Wars Tag and Bink are dead... freakin hilarious! Quote
Dynaman Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 First reaction - sounds like garbage. Second reaction - I liked "The Frighteners" so who am I to judge? Quote
anime52k8 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I like Men in black. I'll probably go see this at some point. Quote
TehPW Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 interesting... though the cowboy-act seems a bit forced, i cant think of anyone else being able to pull it off... Quote
Dynaman Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 The title alone puts me off ever seeing this. Quote
myk Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Well, if I can see Marisa Miller's stellar body flattened across a windshield it might prove to be worth it... Quote
Black Valkyrie Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Indeed Ghost Busters meets Men in Black. Quote
big F Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Could be interesting, but lets just see how it pans out. Quote

areaseven Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Ouch!Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 9%Metacritic Score: 14"The worst comic book adaptation since Jonah Hex." - Roger Moore, McClatchy-Tribune News Service"For a movie that so strenuously rips off Ghostbusters and Men in Black, R.I.P.D. manages to come up with fresh new ways of being absolutely terrible. The plot manages to be fully predictable and freakishly bonkers at the same time, seemingly born of the same kind of brainstorming-on-L.S.D. session that must have given us Howard the Duck." - Kyle Smith, New York Post Quote
Duke Togo Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Obvious bad movie is obviously bad. I'm shocked. Quote

David Hingtgen Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Yikes...has Ryan Reynolds jumped the shark? I think he did right after "Two Guys, a girl, and a pizza place" personally. Quote
Hikuro Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Yikes...has Ryan Reynolds jumped the shark? Just the name alone makes it bad. I think Jeff Bridges just didn't have anything better to do at the time. Quote
areaseven Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 The only good performance Ryan Reynolds has done was in Ted. And he wasn't even credited in that film. Quote
