Tochiro Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 Picked up a ticket for the cockpit exhibit on my way home from work last night. Decided to go with the Sheryl design. Valid for one visit at any time during the 4 months that the exhibit is running :-) ...OK I'll be honest - I'm jealous of those who can make it there. Tezuka and Macross all in one place. Well, honestly, as far as upcoming macross events go, its the Crossover Live 30 concert that has my attention first and foremost. The cockpit is just tasty icing on the cake. And even then, I'm not sure that either event will live up to some of the others we have had over the past couple of years. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=36562&p=970486 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=30573&p=798586 http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35968&hl=macrossmass http://www.macrossworld.com/3369/3369/ http://www.macrossworld.com/3186/megaroad-launch-ceremony-2012-event-report/#more-3186 http://www.macrossworld.com/4530/mylene-night-03-report-chie-sings-macross-plus/#more-4530 The bar has been set. Gubaba Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 DAT PRINT... Heh. You should see the near-life-size cardboard standee of it that Save and Tochiro have at their place... especially when there are a few young women standing next to it, trying mimic Sheryl's pose... Quote

Tochiro Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 (edited) Two pieces of art have been merchandised for the upcoming exhibit. The first of these is the previously previewed cockpit illustration by Hidetaka Tenjin. It will be available as a wallscroll (8190 yen), B2 poster (525 yen) and artcard (630 yen). The second is an original Tezuka/Macross crossover illustration - more specifically Princess Knight x Macross Frontier. This will be available as a wallscroll (8190 yen), artcard (630 yen), smartphone case (2100 yen), Super deformed artcard (630 yen) and deformed totebag (2940 yen). Four varieties of photo booth stickers exclusive to the event have also been announced. Edited June 14, 2013 by Tochiro Quote
Tochiro Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Some more news has trickled out regarding the cockpit exhibit. Firstly, an app. is currently being made which looks like it will superimpose a picture of the cockpit over what is going to be a Tenjin pic. Development is not yet finished, but so far its looking like this: Secondly, Hidetaka Tenjin will be holding a talkshow and signing event at the cockpit exhibit on July 27th. Each will be limited to 50 participants. Finally, the canned bread 'kan-cho' illustrations that were revealed previously will also be made available as art cards. These will be available at the exhibit for 630yen each. Edited June 21, 2013 by Tochiro Quote
Britai 7018 Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Is there any way to get any of the item goods for the exhibit without going to the actual exhibit? For example, is there anywhere in Tokyo to buy those tickets or art prints? Do places like Mandarake normally carry items from the exhibits or live events? Quote

For example, is there anywhere in Tokyo to buy those tickets or art prints? Do places like Mandarake normally carry items from the exhibits or live events? It would be nice huh?....But, I cannot tell if any of the items are available via a museum webshop....I don't think there is one...otherwise a proxy service may assist you. I believe the special "art cards" can be bought online via the "Animate" online shop using a proxy service....basically you get the special cards with the purchase of advance tickets to the Macross the Museum event: http://www.animate.co.jp/ticket/ticket_20131028macross_m/ I honestly don't care for them.... Mandarake would probably not have these items...unless they announce some companion book for the event....in which case they may eventually have one used....your best bet may need to be YJA.... Good Luck, if you find someone going there that can help you, let me know....so far I'd be interested in the poster.....I'm guessing the new Tenjin "captain portraits" will eventually be available in some upcoming Tenjin art book...or maybe, like I mentioned, a Macross the Museum event companion book...... Valkyrie addict Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Wish I could be there. Finally a Macross app. Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Man, why the hell does this museum have to be all way near Osaka? DAFUQ?! Tokyo or Yokohama would be a much better venue for the damn exhibit. If our son was a at least 1 it'd be a doable trip. Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Pfft. Whaddeva. Tokyo is overrated. Must be why the Macross Frontier Final was set at Budokan 5 years ago eh? Still remember the cost of those tickets my wife and I scored at the Yahoo Auction... Quote
Renato Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Osaka has the Fire BomBAR, too, so you can make a day of it. The only thing that annoys me is that nothing cool like this ever happened when *I* was living in Osaka. They wait till I'm GONE, and then they break out the champagne and party. Quote

Haha, I know I saw that too on the MW FB page. Same here dude, had to rotate back to the States and then all the Macross celebrations explode all over Japan and my vacations don't run at the same time as the celebrations. Quote

Jefuemon Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) Tenjin-san posted one, too. EDIT: Just took a closer look at the picture. Someone on the build team is a Star Wars fan! Edited June 26, 2013 by Jefuemon Quote
antibiotictab Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Tenjin-san posted one, too. I wonder what kind of information this console shows. I am qurious. The fly-by-wire system was not so popular in aviation in the early 80s. But the mecha designer had already known it and adopted, right? I have a DVD about B-747-400. It was shot in the early 90s, and the system was just like brand-new in the commercial airplane. So interesting. Quote

sketchley Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) EDIT: Just took a closer look at the picture. Someone on the build team is a Star Wars fan! I don't think it's the build team per se. There are a few Star Wars references sprinkled throughout Macross. Anyhow, do you have The VFMF: VF-1 book? Check out the cockpit panel display on Pg 043. Specifically right next to the "Helvetica" switch (which I'm glad was NOT included in the cockpit mock-up). Edited June 26, 2013 by sketchley Quote
Save Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Tenjin-san posted one, too. EDIT: Just took a closer look at the picture. Someone on the build team is a Star Wars fan! Actually Tenjin is a active member of the 501st Japan Garrison. He is also overseeing the cockpit so my guess is that he snuck it in. Quote

These will be released over several different dates between today and July 27. Edited June 28, 2013 by Tochiro Quote
Graham Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Just wondering is that Minmay a real person or one of those creepy real dolls? Difficult to tell from the pic Graham Quote

jvmacross Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 kinda liking the poster with all the valks on it rather than the one with the Tenjin VF-1 cockpit (nice too, but...).....is that one also for sale? Quote
Bariaburu Faita Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Ok lets get some time and dates up for when everyone will be able to go so we can meet up. Aaand... Macross the Museum is OPEN! http://www.macrossworld.com/5106/macross-the-museum-is-open/ Quote

locidm Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Apparently one can enter a vf-1 cockpit by opening a door on the side!! Talk about an accurate model! Pity that Minmay cosplayer was blocking most of the view of the cockpit interior. Thanks for the links and pics guys. Quote
Murphy Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Can somebody in Japan buy me those 2 pennants? Ill pay price+shipping costs! PM me! Quote
